Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Marina

4.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Close to the Marina and within walking distance of Cruise Ship dockings. Also within walking distance of Old Town Reykjavik. Unfortunately even from the marina side of the hotel, a view of the harbor is blocked by ships in dry dock which are being repaired.

An example of the perfect location is on one day of my trip I had just finished a long hike(Mount Enja just 30minutes by car), got back to the hotel, was laying on the comfortable bed looking at the activity guide provided by the hotel, and 10minutes later I was on a speed boat looking for whales. This hotel is located at the marina making it perfect to walk out the door to excursions such as bike or walking tours of the city, bike rentals and whale watching. Also the harbor walking path is right there. The decor is fun and modern, beds very comfortable, well appointed gym with a little climbing wall for kids. The lobby seemed like a destination itself with foosball, books, comfortable sitting places.

We stayed here with our two kids and loved it! Great location, the room was so fun with the double bed bunkbed (I think they have multiple room configurations - the one we were in had a double bed bunk). Would highly recommend!

nice hotel, helpful staff. no early check in available.

Nice hotel with unique character. Easy walking distance to waterfront and city centre

This hotel is a very good value. The first floor turns into a hot spot at night time with a DJ and a lot of comfy seating. You can't hear any noise in your room (at least we couldn't but we were on the third floor). The bartenders and all other staff were extremely nice and helpful. Prices at the bad are very high so I would go somewhere else for dining (although the cocktails and appetizers that we tried were very very good). Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel based on the close proximity to the downtown and friendly staff.

The hotel is on the harbor and had amazing views from the balcony. Not all rooms have a balcony or a view, so watch for what you book. I was happy to find that the town of Reykjavik truly was a 5 minute walk from our hotel. The rooms are efficient and small, but that is common in Iceland. It was a really nice surprise that they used L'Occitane shampoo, conditional, and shower gel, they were mounted on the walls in the shower. I want to buy some after using it! The check-in process was quick. Iceland is very expensive, so be prepared!

Very nice hotel. Only downfall was breakfast at the hotel was a bit pricey.

This is only our second trip overseas, so we didn't know what to expect. The staff at the Icelandair Marina was more helpful than we could imagine. They helped us get settled, find great activities and helped direct us to areas we wanted to see. The hotel was very nice, but it was the staff that really made the difference,

Great hotel - has cafe, bar, restaurant, gift shop, inviting reception area, movie theater, experienced and courteous staff. It has free parking and is an easy walk to downtown shops.

Great stay. The location was really good. The staff was friendly and helpful. Best of all we were able to see the northern lights from our balcony (we stayed in an attic room facing the marina). The room is a little small, but very clean and comfortable.

Quirky, cool hotel. Beds were comfy, with nice linens. We had the deluxe room, which entitled us to a free happy hour 6-7pm, with little charcuterie spread. Awesome! There is also a free yummy breakfast. And free parking. Close by to all the tourist sites and great restaurants. View of the harbor in some rooms. The only downside was that with our window open (bcs it was too hot), we were awoken by lots of noise coming from the parking lot outside early in the morning (slamming car doors, etc).

Only complaint is regarding breakfast. I'm almost positive that it was supposed to be included. And the 1st morning we were told it was by the front desk and given crap by the hostess for not being on the list. The 2nd day we were told we had to pay and it was $30 per person which is ridiculously overpriced for what it was. Otherwise the hotel is fun and gave off a very Ikea-like vibe. Walking distance from downtown. We recommend it. Not sure it's worth the extra for a room with a view. It's still a tiny room.

Great hotel and perfect location. Nice rooms, great restaurant and bar downstairs, very walkable to everything.

Love the lounges and ambiance. Close to downtown perfect location

Fantastic marina view if you have have a room facing it instead of those facing the road. Accommodating staff when I requested to change my road view room to facing the marina. Staff was also responsive when I asked for a kettle but instead a complimentary coffee / tea making set was delivered.

Loved it and will stay there again on another visit! Wonderful gathering areas and libraries all over the hotel....jazz quartet in the bar area, comfortable and clean rooms. Great location for all ages and is a fun place for kids too with a play area.

much like the rest of reykjavik this hotel is overpriced, underwhelming and the staff is unfriendly and unaccommodating. the room was tiny, had the decor of a dentist's waiting room and was stuffed to capacity with cheap furniture that i had to awkwardly maneuver around to get into bed. the bed i will say was large, very comfortable and very clean, no complaints there. one thing worth mentioning is the bathroom "door" of the room which is a sheet of frosted glass with a hole in it that does very little for privacy, visually or otherwise. hotel breakfast menu and food was disappointing even for hotel food and staff was very, very rude. the lobby of the hotel is loaded with tons of common space, cafe, library, bar, small theater, and would probably be a great place to relax if and when you got sick of the dorm room that they stuck you in. i'm a low-maintenance seasoned traveler and usually very easy to please, but unfortunately the bad far outweighs the good in this case.

Right by the marina and surrounded by all the good food places. Love the room decoration and the amenities.
