Lovely Hotel

This hotel is lovely! The staff was kind and they have an amazing spread for breakfast (which is an extra fee of $32 USD/day), which includes hot foods like bacon and eggs. Also loved the eco-friendliness of the hygiene products and room servicing. Thank you for a great and welcoming stay!

The hotel’s rooms and public space was clean and nicely appointed. Staff was great, helpful and kind. Food was delicious and enjoyed coffee/tea all day. The only negative was the area around the hotel was a little rundown and parking spaces were narrow.

A comfortable stay

I enjoyed the friendliness of the staff. The room was comfortable for myself and well-kept. I read some comments about the location, that the hotel seems remote to some. That entire area of the city is walkable, and Laugavegur Street is only a couple of blocks away. That's where the entire walk towards the center of town begins with multiple shops that distract you while you do a 15-minute walk or so towards the harbor. I didn't find the hotel "remote," in other words, but I understand that it's not in the center of town, which was fine by me. The weather was perfect for walks. My only concern would be true of most of the hotels in this area, which is that none of them came with breakfast included but the approximately $30 fee wasn't unusually high if you compare prices at similar restaurants in Reykjavik. The city restaurants are pricey. I usually prefer for breakfast to be included. Other than this, I appreciated how the hotel coordinates well with the bus services that take one to excursions and to the airport.

This is a quiet hotel and we found it great value. We had a room with a view of the harbor and mountains beyond. Hot complimentary coffee and tea were always available. We ate breakfast there several mornings- the buffet is lovely. It is an additional cost, but all of the food tasted homemade with a wide variety for a range of tastes. We did have dinner there a couple of times after a long day touring, and enjoyed Gull beer, a local draft quite a bit. The food was simple but tasty. There were a couple local restaurants nearby, but we didn't check them out, preferring to relax in the hotel after our long days touring. Although this is a few blocks away from the city center (tourist area), we met our tour busses at a bus stop nearby or they met us at the hotel itself. We easily walked over to the city center each day. Our room was on the small side, but comfortable for two. The staff are friendly, and helpful. We really enjoyed our visit and will definitely recommend.

Overall, loved this hotel. Lovely style, great view and the breakfast was delicious (didn't try dinner). Walkable to the main shopping & restaurant areas but is far enough that it's quiet. Flybus Iceland provides drop off/ pick up from for airport transfers. Most attractions (lagoons, tours, excursions) also offer pick up/ drop off at this hotel, which is convenient if you're not planning to rent a car. I would stay here again if I am lucky enough to go back to Iceland.

Property was extremely clean and the chef was amazing. But the customer service in the front was horrible its almost like they never really wanted to help or assist right away. Rooms are extremely small and I do mean small. Also you only get 1 housekeeping day for your room to be cleaned and restocked. Even after picking that 1 day I was left going back downstairs to retrieve my own clean towels. Overall I would never stay there again when I could pay the same price for a better hotel.
