Very close to freeway. Easy to locate. Great location as it was close to restaurants and food vendors. Desk clerk was polite and helpful. Got a clean room with no problems. Excellent breakfast. Would definitely stay there again.
The rate for this hotel is about $ 50 too much. We were given a room with dirty wet towels left on the bathroom floor.non flushing and leaking toilet. Realizing that we could not stay in this room we moved to an "Upgraded" room, by no means a suite, just a feet or so wider. Once settled and finally relaxed I sat down on the desk chair that rocked back and knocked me to the ground. This Quality Inn is one of the worst hotels in Northern California .
We got this room free with our points. It was okay. The TV stand/ dresser was closer to the bed than I would have liked. It had a microwave, fridge, coffee maker, tea, blowdrier. The Internet had no upload speed, Tiny download speed. TV was SD, and picture stretched. Bathroom looked like it was refurbished by someone who had never done that before. Wall paper peeling, bath tub had been painted...badly. Breakfast was hot. Scrambled, hard boiled, and round patty type eggs, sausage, bacon, hashbrowns, english muffins, waffles, yogurt, 2 cold cereals, apple and orange juice, tea, coffee, hot chocolate.
We were given room 214. When we approached the room we could see that the plastic flange that covered the electronic door lock was barely held in place with scotch tape which made it somewhat difficult for the sensor to read the key card. There was no clock or clock/radio in the room. There was some water on the floor near the toilet probably because the tank had a visible crack in it but it didn't leak while we were there. The metal flange around the tub grab bar (designed to cover the screws) was loose and dangling. One end of the shower curtain railing was held to the wall with masking tape (but it didn't fall while we were there).Neither the tub nor the sink drained very well. A five minute shower left about two inches of water in the tub which took a few minutes to drain away. When the air conditioner was running (which was 24 hours with ninety degrees plus outside) there was a constant drip of water which eventually soaked the carpet in a three foot diameter circle. The metal security lock which is supposed to flip across the door at night was actually broken in two. Only the pieces were still attached to the door and the door frame.
I have stayed at this property previously and saw some low reviews, but decided to give it a try based on previous experiences. Yes, it is in the process of some renovations, but I did not have the same challenges other reviewers had. The type of room we reserved was not available, but the front desk person handled it and put us in something that was acceptable. Not the nicest room, but everything was clean, the wifi worked well, had a fridge and microwave. Bed was comfortable, the bathroom has my pet peeve of vanities, no room to put a bathroom bag but worked around that. The breakfast buffet was the typical fare. This property is close to many amenities, you can walk to a few different restaurants, there is shopping and recreation opportunities in the area. The parking lot could accommodate oversized vehicles. I heard no complaints from the dog, he did not pick up any foot stickers and he had no complications with his visit that I am aware of. I am looking forward to another visit in the future.
The property is a bit dated but going through a remodel when we were there June 2016. Hopefully they will upgrade the room A/C units. Staff was freindly enough, breakfast the usual fare for a Choice Hotel. There's a pool, but we didn't have time to enjoy it. The family complained of sore backs from the soft beds, so that may be a consideration.
After our cold, wet continuing weather in BC I needed sun & warmth & chose Redding for my place to land. I began with a 2 night stay & ended up rebooking and in the end stayed 13 nights. Staff went out of their way to juggle other guests so I could remain in the same room during my stay. The housekeeping ladies were superb. I need just ask & it was supplied. The toilet began leaking & maintenance was there within an hour. A water main broke during my stay & although there was no water in the whole complex for a number of hours, management kept guests informed. I was so happy to see a pool with palm trees when I arrived but the pool was not yet functional. Unfortunately during the last 2 days of my stay the palms & other trees were cut down. Staff explained that management had begun renovating & upgrading & this was to include the rooms. The bed was very comfortable & the sheets & towels white & soft. The rooms are very worn. Old peeling wallpaper, old bathroom fixtures & some dirt accumulations in corners. I was eager to use my Lysol wipes & felt after that, it was livable for me. It was important to me to have a pet area & theirs was large & close to my room. It did not appear that any units were monthly rentals & the place was peaceful & quiet with no questionable people hanging around. Seeing the amount of rooms filled nightly it appears this is a popular place to stay. It is located within 10 minutes of all major shopping Malls in Redding. Breakfast is completely ample & there was never a shortage of food no matter the number of guests. The only thing missing for me was a guest laundry.
While travelling home to southern California from Washington, we made our reservation on the Choice Hotels app while about 2 hours out. Our request for a ground floor room was filled upon arrival. The motel is good for the low price. Our room was LARGE, clean, well appointed & well stocked with linens. One drawback is that ashtrays are mounted outside next to the room entry doors. Another is that breakfast is only available until 9:00 am. Front desk clerk was quite friendly & efficient. Overall a good stay.
Property is in need of maintenance (broken chair, burnt out light bulb, badly scratched toilet seat) but was clean. Skimpy on supplies like towels, cups and coffee. Garbage service starts at 6:15 am. "Hot" breakfast was pitiful.
This is by far the WORST hotel i have ever encounter in my life! I awoke at 1230 am to my 3 year old son screaming turned on the lights and he had bed bugs on his face and back! We further searched the room and found 5 more between our bed and my son and daughters bed!! I called the front office frantic ans asked them whay could be done and i couldnt believe that this had happened. The night clerk "Moose" seemed very upset for us and wasnt sure what to do. As we waited for him to call whoever his male boss was that night (i believe was the owner after hearing his comment you will later hear about) we calmed our children. He called us back and said that they would refund our money and send us on our way because they did not want US contaminating another room!! I was floored ! We started packing right away and again this is at now 1am and we are being sent out into the cold to figure it out... i told Moose i wanted him to call back his "boss" and have him explain to me how this was at all acceptable and was he now going to pay for me and my children to get another room somewhere? Where they going to pay for me to launder my entire family of four's luggage, since we were now " contaminated" from their hotel? Moose calls back and now says " well we can just move you to another room now... i said "well umm you already made us feel awful and we really dont feel like we should stay in any room at this hotel"So when i get to the office to turn in my key and checkout, Moose is now on the phone once again with the boss asking him my questions about iur laundry and how we handle this as we have never ever delt with bed bugs, I hear the boss say on speaker phone "well I'm not going to buy her lunch"! I cried for 2 hours driving over Mt. Shasta in the snow at 1am! I will say this, Moose did seem to try to do his best to be nice and compassionate.
