This hostel is located close to the highway in a superb location with a mountain stream close by. Its accommodation is clean with dorm type rooms and a well equipped kitchen including a refrigerator. There is also a wood fired sauna close to the stream so you can indulge in a dry or steam sauna followed by an refreshing plunge. All linen is supplied so you do not require bedding. Joel is a wonderful host. It is wise to book well in advance particularly in the summer since this is a well attended tourist location on the Canadian Icefields Parkway.

Love this place and love the owner. Will stay again for sure. Simple but everything what is needed is here. No showers...if you need shower you can drive to Lake Louise Town and ask for free shower in HiHostel in the town(explaining that you are a guest of HiRampart Creek Hostel)

Always a good time here. I am happy that wifi is minimal, as you can actually talk to other travellers? The dorm rooms are clean & warm, as are the kitchen and pit toilets. And the night life is great! No, not bars, but sitting around a starry sky and a roaring campfire. And what is this about no showers?? Warm up some water from the creek in the wonderful wood fired sauna, and you will have the best shower EVER!!

We arrived quite late and only stayed one night, so our experience of this place is limited. There were several cars in the car park when we arrived and we nabbed the last spot. There are no showers, and the toilets are drop toilets (not too stinky or anything, they were very clean). There is water to drink and cook with, and electrical lighting in the rooms. Otherwise it's all pretty basic, but we really enjoyed the vibe. Most of the people staying there were hikers or families, so it was quiet and the people were friendly. Nice big kitchen. The dorm bunk beds were fine. Overall a very inexpensive place to stay and definitely worth considering if you don't mind not being able to have a shower!

Lovely and cozy location and lovely staff. Everything you need and a very good atmosphere with a camp fire at night. There is no running water but toilets and water to cook are provided. We would definetly book again.

Beautiful location along the Icefields Parkway. Large kitchen for the number of guests, and the drop toilets were very clean (considering what they are) and didn't actually smell too bad! There was electricity in the rooms and kitchen/lounge for lighting.

If you are travelling down the icefields parkway then you HAVE to stay here for at least a night. Staying here was one of the highlights of our rockies trip. When it gets dark all you can see in the sky is stars. More stars than you have ever seen anywhere. There is no light anywhere. Just you and the stars. Its incredible. Take a few cans of soup or stew with you to cook in the kitchen for dinner and eat outside. There is everything you need here, utensils, cooking pots and pans. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. There is no wifi but we didnt mind at all. Its so nice to just enjoy that moment sometimes without the distraction of your phone. Top tip though: take some mosquito repellent and bite relief with you! Really cannot rate this place highly enough.

This is, according to HI, the "most remote" of their hotels in Alberta. It is easy to find, though, just off the Icefield Parkway, and therefore worth a visit. It's pretty basic - small dorms and no showers - but the peace and quiet can't be beat. Guests here are really close to some amazing hikes and natural scenery. Manager Ken is great, and will suggest some hikes that suit the ability and objectives of guests. Meanwhile, the common space is cozy enough and the kitchen area is big enough to work with. Highly recommended.

HI Rampart Creek is a 'rustic hostel' so there is no running water, showers or flush toilets. DO NOT let that keep you from going!!' This hostel is located in a fabulous location along the Ice Fields Parkway one of the most picturesque places on earth. With a river turbine and solar panels there is electric light and for a few hours a day WIFI (but no cell coverage). The communal kitchen has refrigerators and freezers as well as gas stoves. Y son and I spend three nights there last week as a base camp for wildlife and landscape photography. It is the perfect location for both and a comfortable drive to either Lake Louise or Jasper and the countless sights in between. Over the three nights we spent there one of the Hi lights was meeting fun and interesting people from around the world; Holland, Russia, Switzerland, China, Taiwan, USA and Germany.

Although I did not get the chance to stay at Rampart Creek Hostel, I have to praise Ken, the hostel manager, for helping out a traveler in a jam. I had some serious car trouble near the hostel, in the middle of nowhere, and absolutely no cell service to call for help. I knocked on Ken's door, and he not only gave me a phone to call AAA, but also gave me recommendations for reliable mechanics. What a stand up guy! I hope one day I will get to return to Rampart Creek and enjoy this homey spot. Thank you Ken!
