Always impressed with the coffee bar at City Express. The great advantage is you are just ten minutes from the centro historico. You can walk or take a taxi (but don't drive down there the traffic is horrendous). Parking is secure and the breakfast is OK. The best thing is I got a web special at this property for 15% off.
We choose this hotel because we need a to stay close to the main highway in order to leave the city quick, since our Journey would be long (over 2000 miles). When I made the reservations using Trivago, I asked for a 2 adults and 1 Children, then I was redirected to Hoteles.com. The rate was higher than posted because the date and the additonal person in the room so I paid in the website. We arrived to the hotel at 3AM after drive 700 miles, I checked in and then get my daughter, son and the luggage from the car, when we entered to the hotel the guy at the front desk stared at us until we got in to the elevator. Once we got to the room, 3 minutes later, the security guard knock at the door (at 3:15 AM) to claim that we only have reservation for 2 adults not three. I argued that I made a reservation for two adults and one child and also show him my reservation in my phone, he insisted that I should go to the front desk to fix the problem so I went there. At 4AM I was continuning arguing about and also shown him that Hotels.com didn't required any extra payment for the children above 12 years old. He said that their policy was that a child must be under 12 years or lower. Also they had our reservation through Expedia.com and only for two adults. I didn't use Expedia.com, but Hotels.com. Bottom Line, I didn't want to argue anymore because of the time in the morning and I end paying additional $120 MXP to the extra, I had already paid in the website. Here the main problem for me is: 1 - Why they didn't wait until I check out to charge me the rest, we only slept 6;30hrs because this incident. 2 - The final rate I paid doesn't correspond to a hotel of this category, I could choose a better hotel for that price. 3 - It is very akward that a security gard get to your room like you did something wrong. 4 - If I show front desk person that the problem was caused by them why should I have to paid extra. I have stayed in City Express Hotel several times in the past and even in this trip in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas and San Luis Potosi, with no problems at all, but this hotel. I don't recommend to stay in this hotel or at least don't get at 3AM. I normally don't complain about the service when I stayed only one night, but I don't like to be treated as a criminal
The rooms are clean an modern. Nothing fancy but practical. It is located about 5 to 10 min with taxi from the city center. The breakfast is included but quite simple. Don't expect a huge buffet but at least it is enough to start the day.
Good hotel for an over night, good breakfast , hotel suitable for little noisy children, and families in general . Off the historic center , something like ten minutes from the center , need a car or taxi to get to the center but because he margins , if you do not want to enter the city so is ideal . Was a bad smell when we entered the room , you cant open a window so we had to wait for the air-conditioner will work , but you can not sleep with the air conditioner because it got too cold so we suffered a bit with the smell ..
I stayed just one night, and that was enough to see the lot of improvements the administrators should need take note in order to be considered this hotel as a real option for a business hotel in Queretaro. The room conditions, the cleanness in general, but the most frustrating was the deficient air conditioner (more than 26 C inside could be the anteroom of hell). I asked for help at the reception even though they said "somebody is going to you room for assist you, nobody came" I preferred close my eyes trying to sleep. The morning after, I saw the included breakfast, and my decision was "Mike: sincerely, take your belongings and look for a restaurant for a real breakfast".
We were looking for a place to stay closed to the Downtown and we found City Express. It looked great in the pictures but the experience was one of the worse in my life. We decided to book online so we do not have problems when we arrive because was going to be on the evening. We did so but when we arrived to the hotel we were told that our reservation did not come in yet and if we could wait for 20 minutes. That was fine but those 20 minutes became one hour and when we asked at the reception we were told that still our reservation was not in. When started getting worried about our stay we asked the reception to check us in and if the problem will not be sold by the next day we will pay in cash. The receptionist was very nice to check us in but we needed to pay the room so we could get in. After one and a half hour waiting on the lobby finally we got in our room. We asked on the reception at what time we needed to check out so we can plan our time accordingly. After told all the information that we needed (the check out was at 13:00 the next day which, as per the receptionist could be extended) we enter our room. The room was ok for the one night stay but the next day we left the hotel early to take care of the business we came for thinking that we will come back around 11:30 AM to have enough time to take a shower and a power nap before the long drive to Mexico D.F. SURPRISE!!! When we came back at exactly 11:30 our room did not have any bad sheets, nor towels in the bathroom. When asked at the reception what happened they were not able to give me an answer. Getting more frustrated about the situation I asked to speak with a manager in-charge the sales manager came out but when tried to explain the situation all he could do was handing me his business card (he did not speak English at all). The receptionist (who spoke a little English was giving me an excuse that the boss was not there...:)). I could not say anything anymore and I decided to leave the hotel (WITH A VERY BAD TASTE). Will never book on City Express again. P.S. I wrote on the digital comment card that I wish to speak with a manager and yet after a few days nobody got the time to write an e-mail. Very bad customer service...
The service was as expected in a limited service hotel. No problem during the day as it is close to downtown, but take care at night as the area turns seedy.
Great location, well maintained clean building and facilities, and comfy bed. I quite liked this hotel. Perfect for business trips. What bothered me is that i could hear toilet flush from the surrounding rooms all night long and the room got wee cold at night and in early morning. Internet was bloody so slow i had to renew the faceboook page umpteen times. I commented what i thought of the hotel through my assistant and their feedback was so quick and polite.
See the price and do the math....the facilities were OK, but the Customer Service was simply terrible, I have no words to describe how frustrating was treat with the front desk people... Their website says they speak English, but they DO NOT, they are not very smart and they are very very slow....Any way , I would not recommend this hotel...
I stayed at this hotel with my baby, husband, mother and aunt and it was a great experience. We shared two rooms and both were comfortable, clean and in excellent condition. The hotel is quiet despite being next to the highway. It's a hotel where you'll get everything you need to spend the night... and have a nice breakfast.
