This is our second stay and the apartments are still fantastic. Check in with the lovely Ann was friendly and seamless. The apartment was clean, well maintained and as described. The view is spectacular as is the location with the town centre a five minute walk away.
Positives: The place looked like it had been recently renovated. All the apartments were large, spacious, modern, with great appliances for everyday use. The location was great - just a few minutes from the city centre. 2 of our 3 rooms were upgraded which was a lovely perk! The staff were great and very accommodating, and they had lovely barbecue facilities for everyone to use. Negatives: Firstly, it's on quite a slope so if you're coming with older people with knee problems and such it might be a bit difficult walking up and down the hill to get to and from the apartments. Secondly, we came in a 12-seater van which unfortunately was oversized for their parking garage. Luckily they had availability in their oversized parking spots but that is quite limited (they only have 2 spots) and I think in the high season we would have had major parking issues. Other than that, we loved our experience at the Glebe Apartments and we'd come back!
VERY close to ALL the best of Queenstown in all aspects - touring, eateries, recreational sites, shopping, ships and more. Excellent rooms and furnishings. Excellent and responsible management staff and parking on site as well.
Booked a 2-bedroom Apartment (facing the road - Room 202) which is the cheapest option because the ones with the Lake or Mountain view costs a lot more. Although the windows and glass sliding doors were double-glazed, we could hear the heavy traffic when we opened up the doors for some fresh air. The Self-Contained Apartment was clean, well equipped with a great kitchenette, huge bathroom and spa. Also comes with Foxtel/Sky with 40cm LCD and all blu-ray, CD and VHS player. There is also your own washing machine and dryer which is a plus point. The Apartment is not serviced but can be done for a fee. It is located up a steep hill and a few minutes stroll to the centre of Queenstown. Free WiFi and undercover parking as well. Would highly recommend it except don't get a room facing the road.
Location was great. We had a roadside apartment so knew there would be noise but the double glazing meant no noise while we were sleeping. The apartment was spacious with great amenities. Being able to order room service from next door was an additional bonus after a hard day of travel. Overall a great apartment and we will be back.
We are a family of four with two older children (18 and 21) We booked the lake view 3 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment and it was perfect. Spacious, well equipped, clean etc... absolutely no issues whatsoever. It is on a corner and I had read that the main road side can be busy and noisy so we booked in the second of the two blocks (ie the one behind). You will need to go up higher to get the views so we booked room on 7th floor. 702 or 704 not sure which. Staff were lovely, friendly and knowledgeable. Not the cheapest option but very good value, and it's a long way to go if you don't get the accommodation right! Brilliant option for being close to the town centre but far enough away to be quiet/ 5 minute walk.
Booking studio style Apartments can be real hit and miss. Everyone has been there before. It has a great kitchenette, huge bathroom with separate shower and spa. Foxtel/Sky with 40cm LCD and all blu-ray, CD and VHS player. Highly recommend, it is located up a steep hill but its no big deal. We are about a minutes stroll from the centre of Queenstown. They have onsite, undercover parking as well. We stayed in room 801a and couldn't be happier!!
After an initial check-in hiccup (stuff up more like it) our 2br, ground floor, courtyard 'view' apartment was ready. I can only speak for the 2br apartments as there are various shapes and sizes. The apartment is large and very well equipt with full kitchen, washer/dryer and the usual bits n pieces a hotel has to offer. the room looked out onto a courtyard which wasn't bad, as we still had a glimpse of the hills and it didn't feel too cramped. Once the doors were closed, only the noisiest of noises crept into the apartment and it was never an issue, the rooms are very quiet. HOWEVER, all was looking good until it was time to go to sleep. The bed (in this apt anyway) was horrible. The worst I have slept in, in all my travels, including $30/n hotels in Vietnam and Asia. Sleep comfort was terrible. I took a look at the mattress and saw that it was one of those multi-colored ones that cost about $80 for a queen size and it felt like a $20 mattress. For the appointments around the apartment and the cost per night, this was a real let down. And to endure 8 nights was not pleasant. Gripe number 2; On sunny days it was nice to have the doors open to let a bit of fresh air into the room, well that was until a smoker decided to light up in the courtyard and reduce their life expectancy. You are allowed to smoke on your balcony AND in the courtyard which (in my humble view) is disguising. The majority, if not all, hotels I have stayed in, smoking is relegated to a corner away from the rooms, but to allow it in the courtyards is really off putting. For a set up like The Glebe, there is no escaping the smell, especially if it is a nice clear still day. Those two major gripes out of the way, This is a great place to stay, helpful staff, close to town, very quiet, large well appointed rooms and all the things you need for a comfortable stay. Shame about the bed and the smoking. If returning to Queenstown, this place would be where we would stay again.
We have 2 large families staying at the Glebe for a wedding and the apartments have been perfect for both sets of families. We have couples and children that are able to have their own space as there are 3 bathrooms! It's a short distance walk to the town making everything very easy! The wifi speed is great and the family has 20GB of data to use while at the apartments. The staff are very friendly and offer great recommendations and helped to make the stay more enjoyable by assisting with any needs. Great place to stay!
Having stayed at the Glebe on visits to Queenstown over many years, I can thoroughly recommend this apartment complex. Our family of four stayed in a 2 bedroomed apartment with lake / courtyard views. The apartment was spotless and very well equipped for self catering. It is easy to order takeaway from several nearby outlets, e.g. Pedro's HOL, who deliver if ordered in advance. Staff at the Glebe are friendly and nothing is too much trouble re booking trips to the stunning scenery & activities around Queenstown, car rental, airport information etc. With underground parking available, you can leave your car and walk into the central area from the Glebe in minutes. A 'home from home', the Glebe is our preferred choice when visiting this stunning part of NZ - give it a try!
