We stayed as a group. Our bags took forever to arrive at our room, house keeping didn’t clean properly only made the beds and changed the towels and was always done when we wanted to get changed to go out for dinner was always told we are busy. It took two lifts to get to our room. On the plus side beds were comfortable.
Was a nice surprise staying at Scenic Suites this weekend. It was everything they said and then a bit more (if that makes sense) The water pressure in the shower was amazing! So much that I wanted to shower more and nice towels. Great beds and nice linen. Good spacious layout in the room (we had 2 x queen beds). Nice balcony. Little things to make life easier i.e. mini bar that wasn't over the top for my late night chocolate craving, plunger coffee ++, all the normal bathroom freebies but I was impressed that they had hand-washing powder too. Slippers & robes, a fan which you don't get often and great heat pump. It was a bit different to navigate around the place but not hard (not sure if you had been drinking though :) ) The walk to town was only a few minutes down but a bit harder on the way back as its up hill. Overall a nice place to stay with everything you could need for a reasonable price in Queenstown
Located up the hill and looks like a maze inside. Be prepared to use 2 elevators and get in and out through the cold to get to your room (up and down as well). Room itself is okay, has a heater and aircon, beds are comfortable. Housekeeping was awful, never vacuum cleaned and left behind last night room service leftovers.I would not stay here again as many better options are in town.
I stayed here one night recently. The positives include a really excellent modern room which felt like a proper apartment. Clean and cosy with good amenities. Would be very comfortable for a family with children. The reception desk was very efficient and helpful. My luggage was stored for 3 day trip to Milford Sound. The negatives if any is the slight hill that needs to be climbed to et back to the hotel from Town. If you are planning a late night revelry in town then walking back inebriated without falling over maybe a challenge. If on the other hand a moderate amount of exercise doesn't leave you breathless then it is of no consequence. The hotel is essentially within the town and in walking distance of everything. Having stayed a second night in the Lofts Apartments in town and being able to make a direct comparison between two somewhat equally priced places, I would stay stay here - a much higher quality and accept the hill. After all this is the activity capital of New Zealand
I really enjoyed staying here, it was a 5min walk downhill to downtown Queenstown, however the return is a little harder cause it's a steep uphill. Keep in mind if your traveling with elderly, disabled person, or someone who's not in the best of shape this hotel won't be suitable unless you have a car or get taxi rides back. The hotel is also very close to some nice walking trails in Queenstown. And it's a very safe area. The rooms were very spacious and so were the bathrooms. The beds are comfy. I also liked that the room had a separate door that connects to the outside walkway, and a separate door into your room and a separate door to your neighbors room. The hotel doesn't have shuttle transportation to and from the airport , but there's a shuttle company Super Shuttle that charges $26 each way for two people. We didn't have breakfast since we were doing a tour, but there's several cafes and restaurants nearby. A few cafes open very early to accommodate those guest going to tours to Milford Sound. There's also a grocery store nearby. Great hotel.
Comfortable beds and great shower. Great free guest laundry with clothes airer in the room. Great storage in the room and great secure parking. Close to town centre. Only downside is the walk up the hill.
Considering the size of Queenstown, the location of the hotel is actually out of the way. Still within walking distance of the main street, but you would have to climb up a steep slope (there are loads of better and less "strenuous" options) for similar prices. The hotel itself was really old and run down, and not very clean either (crusty carpet that you really shouldn't walk barefoot on). Service was equally disappointing - check out was at 10AM and when we requested for a late check-out we were told they could give us an extra 30 mins at most
There is no bureaus or dressers in any rooms to store your extra clothing or personal items so plan on living out of your suitcase. The items in the refrig and on top are quite expensive so look at the price sheet first. This is a very confusing hotel to get around and the steep and we mean steep. hill you need to navigate to downtown makes this place not worth it and not happy with our agent for changing our original booking from Peppers Beacon which was a flat 5 minute walk and also rated 4 stars. We are not spring chickens. Breakfast is $25 per person for hot $19 for cold. Staff is friendly and service is courteous. The room views are so-so depending on where you get placed and groups seem to get preference. Rooms are somewhat dated with furniture
Yuk! Hair in my room service dinner, dust on my drinking glass rim and generally worn out dated room. Stains on the carpet and couch. At $190 per night I definitely expect more......will never book/stay again
The hotel layout takes a while to get your head around. There are three blocks with three levels but each level has sloping corridors. The suites consist of a large double bedroom, bathroom with separate bath and shower plus any open plan living area with a kitchenette. A washer and dryer are provided plus micro wave, hob and coffee machine. The windows and blinds in our unit had not been cleaned for some time. Overall the decor and furniture were dated. I would not stay again.
