Marriott Puebla Hotel Meson del Angel

This Marriott property is caught between two worlds of time and clientele. The original footprint of the property is spread out over a spacious campus of 3-story buildings of outside access executive "classic" rooms/suites, of which they are renovating building by building. The main reception off the main Hermanos Serdan avenue is distant from the executive lounge and gym facilities. Recently added is a modern tower of more minimalist rooms that have more contemporary decor and inside room access. I had previously stayed in the older, executive section and wanted to try out the tower rooms. Unless your room is in one of the wings attached to the main building, it will be a bit of a walk over either tiled walk ways or cobble stones that will do a number on leather-soled shoes or your wheeled suitcase. I ventured out to find the executive lounge after unpacking and found myself lost and taking ten minutes and various stairs to get to it. The room itself was a general disappointment. It looks like they couldn't decide if this should be a room amenable to business travelers or not. As you can see in the photo, there is no real desk, only a small "TV Tray" like table to use with the couch - and no executive chair. This also meant that any electronic you use has to be strung out to a plug near the bed - no very convenient or safe. The bathroom has a walk-in shower that had great water pressure, a broad rainfall shower head, and attached wand. Marriott has also gone to limiting the rooms to one bar of Thann soap and a small tube of hand soap - your chose which you use for the sink and which for the shower. The tube of hand soap only had enough to wash my hands once - which leads me to believe housekeeping doesn't really check them often. Overall, my experience was underwhelming and doesn't motivate me to rebook at this property. My problem is Puebla doesn't have many options in the upper-scale hotel segment.

Last week I been in Puebla & stay a couple of Nights in the Marriott Meson del Angel Since the reception you have the opportunity to see that you will have a good stay with out any inconvenience I received a Room in a frequent members area and the place is very nice Separate Pool area and executive snack area with a Clerk that Can Assist you ,actually I'm request help and my request was done efficienty Bed and Pillow are pretty good as always in the Marriott ,Room and Bathromm very Clean and confortable ,products have a excellent Quality Too The Hotel have a couple of Good Restaurants and a Lobby Bar In General I Can Recomend Marriott Meson del Angel

We liked everything about this hotel...food, rooms, services. Grandchildren were sad to leave. The hotel is run at a very high standard, perhaps because it caters to the visiting engineers and executives from Germany working at the nearby mega VW plant.

With how much we were paying, we had higher expectations. The hotel looked very nice and well kept. But our room was a let down. It felt cramped and stuffy. We like other hotels in Puebla better that are actually cheaper as well.

-Perfect breakfast my panza has grown, and always smiling Paola -Friendly personal and servis, Reception guys like Erick, Beretrice, Daniela and many more, i dont know their names, everybody always helpful in everytime, even when we were drunk. -But there was one stalking Manager nobody likes him, very unprofesional to ask from guests in 3hours at night for ID card,

Best place to stay in Puebla. World class service is provided in the executive area by Luisa and Karla. Both of them will tend to your every need and assist you anytime. The food and snacks are made by a very good chef. If you want and enjoyable, pleasant, and quiet stay, this is the place to stay.

My room was in the newer building (the tower); room was clean, staff very friendly. Although the hotel is not close to any other restaurants, the 2 restaurants in hotel had good food and good service. I had dinner on the beautiful outdoor patio by the pool and gardens (recommend the salmon). The only con I encountered was the air conditioning had low output, even on high.

* Quality service at all levels: reception, guards, waiters, phone... Always helpful, always with the smile. (Special thanks to Erick and Ana at reception, and Gloria for the tasty omelettes). * Perfect breakfast and dinner delivered to room. * Confortable rooms. {Exception: showers not very handy in some rooms} * Great quality gym. Cons: * Location: close to industrial area, but far from city center, restaurants and other facilities... * Distances: hotel is pretty spacious. Some facilities of the hotel are far from each others. P.S.: this is a 5 star hotel . Maybe it has been recently upgraded. (I am seeing 4* in the website today)

This hotel is comprised by a number of scattered buildings, some newer than others, and a tower. Except for the tower, the buildings do not have elevators. Pros: Nice outdoor settings, with clean swimming pools and extensive, well kept gardens Both restaurants (steak house and local flavors) have good food, are reasonably priced and have good service. The coffee bar is also great (but that's where the good service stops). Location is convenient for business travelers visiting the industrial area (Volkswagen, San Felipe). Rooms and bathrooms are big, clean and quiet. Cons: Marriott/SPG "elite status" provides access to the executive lounge and lodging in the executive building. The building is inconveniently located far from the lobby/restaurants/business center area - which requires either a 7-minute walk (not bad when you don't have luggage) or wait for a cart service. Breakfast in the executive lounge lacks variety. In general, the lounge is poorly stocked - mostly sodas and coffee. No beer or wine. No non-carbonated options (except for breakfast). The air conditioner of the whole building was defective; even so, it took 3 days of reporting calls for the reception to acknowledge and provide a different room/building. Which only happened when I complained for the fourth time, at 3 am, when the heat was suffocating. The hotel is built next to a river-sewage that emanates nasty odors all day and all night; while Puebla's fresh weather would allow to sleep with the windows open, the smell requires to keep them closed and use the A/C. Final comments: Other than the hotel's, there are no other restaurants at walking distance. But in all fairness, taxis are very affordable and fine places are only at a 12-15 minute ride away. I also learned that the hotel has gone through three different owners in the last four years while keeping the Marriott brand. I believe that these frequent changes of management style have affected the quality of the service and the way budget is spent. It surely looks like gardens receive more $ than the A.C maintenance, the executive elite services and the reception employees' customer service training.

I travel to Puebla often and thoroughly enjoy staying at this hotel. It is consistently a very enjoyable experience to be surrounded by great people who go above and beyond to make md feel at home. Specifically the front desk concierge, Erick, is very accommodating and feels like a good friend who always takes care of me. I highly recommend this hotel for a great experience here in Mexico!
