Pleasant hotel with a deceivable little foyer. Bar staff were pleasant and drinks we're not over priced. The room was clean and pleasant and felt modern. Maybe a little small. The Spa and Pool was beautiful and is carved into the mountain side.

We stayed for one night at this hotel. The spa is really very unique. Full size swimming pool, jacuzzi and underwater massage from Thermal Water. It feels different on the skin. Very relaxing environment, very nice spa.. we had few massages and therapies which were excellent and very well priced. The food is great, we had one breakfast, lunch and dinner and it was just great food every time. I would definitely recommend the hotel and strongly recommend the spa and restaurant.

We stayed at this hotel and we loved it. But The only downside is if you have to travel to big cities by train -example, Florence- you have to return early, otherwise there is no chance to find a train to Porreta Terme after 7pm.

I would recommend Hotel Helvetia to anyone who is interested in a comfortable Spa vacation in the cold season in a charming small town. I visited with my daughter as s special get-away and we loved our short stay. Very flexible staff and great hours of spa, restaurant and check-out.

I have been going to Hotel Helvetia and Spa for several years now; it's my favorite place to go to escape the coldness of winter in Bologna. But I have noticed that there have been some changes since the last time I was there. New management, perhaps? First, you are now required to wear bathing caps in the pool, but no one told us that when we checked in. We found out after we were already in the pool, when a staff member corrected us. It was not a big deal, really, but it was strange that the rules had changed and no one informed us at the front desk. Also, what happened to the salad and vegetable buffet in the restaurant, the reclining chairs in the caverna, and the mood lighting in the hammam? We happened to really enjoy these particular aspects of hotel. Don't get me wrong, Helvetia is still a wonderful place, with a fantastic spa, relaxing ambience, courteous and friendly service, and decent food in the restaurant...but I am kind of wondering what you will decide to change next. Don't tamper too much with a good thing!

A fleeting visit, staying only one night, with not even time to use the lovely-looking spa or gym. The staff are helpful and very nice. Our room was large and comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and typical of breakfasts in Italy. The dining room was just too brightly lit to consider it for dinner - get a dimmer switch!

This was the beginning of our Apennines hike and it was wonderful to step off the train from Bologna and see our beautiful hotel! We immediately went for a pre-hike up in the hills around PT -- great views and lovely woods -- then came down and had a great dinner at the pizza/pasta place across the street, on the bridge. Our room was very elegant and lovely ... with thick cotton robes and slippers on the bed -- great bathroom, and we were just sorry we weren't told about the fabulous rooftop area with tanning chairs and hot tub with nice outdoor showers! (The spa charges a substantial fee to use the pool but the rooftop is free!) .... GREAT breakfast the next morning, too!

You must visit Porretta, and this is the hotel you must stay at. Friendly staff, with a wonderful spa. I found my stay to be very relaxing, and I was very sad to leave. Looking forward to returning. This is where they have the Porretta Soul Festival. I highly recommend you attend it if you can. But I also think it would be wonderful during the winter as well. The little town of Porretta will capture your heart like it did mine.

This hotel is awesome, very clean and comfortable rooms, the staff are always friendly and helpful and eager to please. Restaurant offers a high quality and varied menu and the bar terrace is the perfect place to relax with a nice chilled beer or glass of wine. Breakfast is simple but plentiful and the coffee always fresh.

Excellent stay with excellent service , exactly what one one expects from a 4 star hotel. Nothing to complain about. What more do you need? hotel, Spa, restaurant and soul music festival??? This hotel continually improves itself.
