Explore Pittsburgh from a Modern, Hip Bungalow
Welcome to our renovated 1896 bungalow, we envisioned a place where visitors could cozy up, stay a while and experience city living amidst the peacefulness of park life. The house is within walking distance of the 250+ acre Riverview Park so wildlife and trail adventures await! Please be aware that there is an abundance of wildlife in the evening, the family of deer that pass through are very docile, as are the raccoon, groundhogs, possum, and cats that inhabit the neighborhood. You will f ind that all the wildlife live in harmony with the community.
About the Neighborhood Explore the woods at nearby Riverview Park and discover many other city amenities that are close to the house. Created in 1894, the park predates the City of Allegheny’s annexation to the City of Pittsburgh in 1907. Formed largely from farmland, today’s Riverview Park is known for its dense woodlands and steep topography. The park’s extensive network of trails invites hikers, joggers, and the occasional horseback rider into the woods. The park is also home to the landmark Allegheny Observatory, a visitor’s center, a swimming pool and activities building, the natural beauty of the Mairdale watershed, and the popular two-mile Riverview Loop. Residents enjoy the park's pool, playground, ball field, shelters and summertime concerts and movies.
The home is in a residential neighborhood close to the local Carnegie library, several pizza/sub shops, and other unique eateries. The house is within driving distance of full-service grocery stores, drug stores, coffee shops, dry cleaners, gas stations, restaurants, bars, and other night life, however, all of these types of establishments are within one or two miles. Unique to the area is the local Bread Works for delicious artistry breads.
From the house you will be able to walk out the front door and down the street into the lower part of Riverview Park. There are an extensive choice of trails to choose from if you like to hike or mountain bike. The terrain is hilly with a wide variety of flora and fauna. The park is rich in wildlife so don't be surprised to see deer, possum, raccoons, turkeys, ground hogs and the occasional fox at night. The wildlife is very docile and are used to being around people. Please remember that although they are gentle, their personal space needs to be respected.
Getting around There is plenty of free street parking out front. You can walk, Uber or bus to just about any of the main attractions as this home is just minutes to Downtown, PNC Park, Heinz Field, AGH, North Shore dining and activities. It is within walking distance of the bus line. It is a 10-12 Uber ride to the strip district, south side or PPG Paints Arena. Easy access to I-279 and the parkway. It is about 20 minutes to the airport, depending on time of day/traffic.
The Space Essentials We take pride in offering a naturally clean, warm and welcoming space. There is a queen size bed in the master bedroom. The house is stocked with linens, towels and amenities in the kitchen and the bathroom to make your stay more convenient. There is a Black & Decker 4-in-1 coffee-maker, as well as microwave, pots, pans and other cooking items in the kitchen for guests to be able to cook their own food. Adorable space with everything you need. We weren’t sure about the neighborhood at first but it was quiet and we felt safe and comfortable the entire visit. Host was very responsive as well. We even enjoyed about a half dozen deer in the backyard one morning! Can definitely recommend this home.

Lisa was exceptionally kind and responsive! The home was very clean and organized. There was a lot of nice art and it was overall a comfortable feel. The street was quiet and in an easy location to get to. A nice yard for taking our dog out. We really enjoyed our stay and couldn’t have asked for a better host!

Unit was clean. A/C was provided by window units and a portable unit in the living room. When i returned to the unit after the ball game the breaker had tripped and the downstairs units were off. The neighborhood was depressed and it would have been a bust for most. Great communication with host.

Sweet & quiet neighborhood stay
Perfect spot for exploring PGH. Clean & uncluttered small home, quiet & comfortable, on-street parking, easy drive to all parts of city. Fantastic bike trail along the river is 10 min drive. Highly recommend Eastern European restaurant Apteka, w/excellent natural wines, and Gordo’s on Mt Washington (roasted baby carrot tacos on fresh corn tortillas, hibiscus lime sparkler).

Dishonest property/ area description
My boyfriend and I arrived to the property the day we were scheduled to stay, and upon driving down the street of the VRBO, we were immediately uneasy. The area is very rundown, there are properties surrounding the hosts home that have garbage everywhere, many stray cats, broken windows in homes, and overall dilapidated homes. As soon as we arrived, we talked about finding another place to stay. Unfortunately, we had a concert to go to and attempted to go to that, eventually having to leave before the bands actually played due to fear of the safety of our dog at the hosts property. There were three large German shepherds in the backyard throughout our short stay, barking alarmingly, which terrified my dog who in turn had an accident in the home. We promptly cleaned up the accident and found a hotel to stay in, costing us more money, just to be in a safe location. This host was alerted that we left by 10 PM, and stated that she would give us a refund. She later refused, stating that she felt the area was safe and citing ridiculous landmarks, like gas stations being in the area. This is not a safe location, and I strongly suggest doing a Google map search of the area after you receive the address so you can make this decision on your own. I would never stay here again, as this host refused to refund us, even though her property is very dishonestly described. I read the property description multiple times, and it does not in any way match up to the location of the property.

Cozy and comfy!
My wife and our two dogs had a comfortable stay! Lisa was a super and attentive host. The neighborhood cats, led by Pearl, were adorable ambassadors -- even if we kept them a safe distance from our two dogs. We saw 3 deer in the neighborhood. I highly recommend, as Lisa mentions in her listing, a visit to Riverview Park, an oasis of nature amid suburbia.

Quiet, Updated Older Home
Was clean, although could use some deep cleaning of spider webs and the like. Neighborhood was a little difficult to get to/from. Parking was "on street" but really means on the sidewalk. Communication was decent. Clearer instructions on check-out would be nice. Overall cute and quiet stay that met our needs. Will be looking for something closer to commerce and activities in the future.
