We spent 4 days during the Christmas break and celebrated New Years at this location. Awesome place - magical- romantic - beautiful setting - great friendly service - I. Annoy say enough good things about it. Only set back they do charge for water bottle and there is no drinking pitcher around - otherwise it was truly incredible experience
Most of the reviewers are right about how this hotel has seen better days but that's precisely why we love it. It has a bit of the old school forgotten feel about it. The ladies in the reception were always friendly and warm and a pleasure to chat with. The buffet brekkie was very average but it was sufficient for us. The a la carte menu faired better. This is a small resort so you won't find hoards of visitors loitering around the common areas and pools. The villas (we got upgraded to a pool front one - Thanks!) was spacious and lovely. Great for lounging and kicking back with a good book. The walk to Karon beach is not as far as you might think and after crossing a treacherous road, the walk to the beach under a shady path was actually quite nice. At Karon beach there are umbrellas and sundecks for hire. There is also a stretch of little Thai cafes behind the beach. In particular, we love one called "Phanee". Food was simple, cheap and delicious.
Very beautiful and cosy villa with a stone bathtub. The swimming pool is amazing, with a bar serving cocktails. A great variety of trees and flowers, birds singing everywhere. The spa centre is also high level - we tried oil whole body massage and with 50% discount. The breakfast is delicious and different every morning. The staff is extremely friendly and cooperative. We already miss you!
We were coming to Thailand and staying in Chiang Mai to meet with others and wanted to give ourselves a week to chill afterwards (TBH CM is a great place for that too). So at last minute we decided Phuket and selected The Village Resort. It was perfect to us, very calm and quiet and our villa had its own pool area. The staff - like every Thai person we met - were wonderful and helpful. The villas really comfortable and well designed and the rest of the hotel just idyllic. We ate in a few times (generally being the only ones when you can get much cheaper food in town) but it's only a short walk or scooter ride into the bustling karon beach area. We valued that distance. Also an easy walk to the sandy beach. Would thoroughly recommend it.
Above all, the staff were fantastic - all very friendly, super attentive and caring (without being intrusive), just totally on it all the time, from breakfast to happy hour - they really make this place. Also the whole place is kept immaculately clean and tidy - but the teams working to do this are very discreet so it feels seamless. Our villa was very well equipped - lots of little details that were thought of, beautiful bathroom - great shower especially and I loved the dressing table, big comfy bed, clever light system so you can turn other rooms on or off from the bed - saves you getting up for the toilet in the dark. Also we were seriously impressed by not seeing a single mozzie inside our villa the whole 7 night stay. Breakfast is always delicious with great variety and we tried the spa on the last day, each having the 90min Thai massage and it was simply fantastic!! (Wish we had done more treatments!) Also good location if you want to explore Karon, Kata and Patong - easy to walk straight out the hotel so not cut off but you still feel peacefully secluded once inside the hotel. (It was our first time staying in this part of Phuket and although it turned out to not be our favourite area, that didn't spoil this lovely hotel.) The small downsides were that often on returning to our room there would be a bit of a urine smell from the toilet - think a slight problem with the drains/pipes - not bad enough for us to feel the need to complain to reception though. Also the HUGE beautiful bath looks so inviting for a couple! (Especially when your boyfriend is 6'4") But like the hand basin, it drains out as fast as you fill it - so without constantly running water (too wasteful) it would have been impossible to have a bath. In the bedroom, there was a big window but it looked out directly to our neighbours villa - so my partner didn't feel comfortable opening the curtains for lack of privacy. Perhaps if there was a wooden screen or something outside the window that would be great - so you could open the curtain and let the light in. Finally it would be nice if there was some sort of evening bar activity inside the Village as it was essentially silent after happy hour at the pool bar finished at 6pm - leaving you feeling the need to go out to the bars on the strip every evening. The addition of a pool table would have been amazing. Overall a great resort though and great value for money - if you're looking to stay in this area then this is a very good choice.
This place was magical. I had the whole villa to myself, and everything was perfect. Breakfast was great, the pool is beautiful, the place was safe. A 10-15 minute walk to the beach, which is not really scenic, but if you're out all day, it works coming back to this amazing resort.
Great staff, very welcoming and accomodating. Looked after us on our honeymoon and our vegan food requirements, we had pizza, curry and spring rolls in their restaurant and loved them all. The room and bed are incredibly comfortable, we felt looked after the whole time. Just ask to have a room away from the area where they are doing some renovation work (which is not noisy anyway, but you want to have a better view). The structure is adult only which makes it even more quiet, and the pool is great. Will surely come back
We arrived at the resort mid-day Friday for a 4 day stay. Greeted at reception with a cool drink with a friendly rep. We was then informed we had received a free upgrade to a pool villa! The resort us well established and traditional. We loved the overall feel, and would much rather be staying here than any of the other chain hotels where you could be anywhere in the world and its the same! The villas were huge with a large lounge area, a corridoor leading on to a large bathroom and dressing room/ wardrobe, and then further onto a huge bedroom. The bed was one of the most comfortable I had slept in, and the pillows were just right! Its also one of the biggest beds we’d stayed in! Slept like a log. The pool was large and had a jaccuzi higher up, the resort was relatively quiet so nice and peaceful not overcrowded at all. We found the food and drinks to be of a good quality, although didnt eat here in the evening. The prices of drinks were quite high we found, but we didnt mind overly as we were on holiday after all! Between 4-6pm there is a happy hour with discounted drinks and 2-4-1 cocktails! We made use of this most days! Breakfast was always served in the Front Village, perhaps due to occupancy, but this was fine! A nice garden area to watch the birds in. Breakfast selection was okay, quite an international selection with Thai/ chinese food on offer which we found odd for breakfast as westeners. There were also fruit/ pastries and cereals on offer as well as a great omlette station, more up our street! The location of the Village was great, far enough from the busy part of Karon, but close enough to take a 15 minute walk in for dinner/ drinks and shopping. Just cross the road with the help of the lovely security guard, and follow the path around the resevoir. Left or right it doesnt matter! We loved our stay here and found it very reasonable for 4 days, we made the most of Phuket and visited Phi Phi, Big Buddah, elephant sanctuary, and Patong before moving onto somewhere more remote!
We stayed 10 nights in bungalow. The resort as a whole is in need of upgrading & ongoing maintenance, the bungalows are old & tired. The floors in the bathroom are bare concrete, the walls & shower are bare concrete that has been painted approx. 1 metre above floor level, some years ago. The toilet can't cope with flushing toilet paper (a common problem with all older buildings) The bed was very, very hard & is contained within some weird step up from the bedroom floor. This means your mattress is only some 30 cms off floor (difficult to get in & out of bed) then there are 2 steps down to main floor area, again difficult/dangerous in night time. This resort is a "sister" to The Front Village, they share the same entrance & we were advised that for breakfast we could have buffet served in The Front Village or a la carte in our hotel. (they actively encourage & advise customers to go to the Front Village) The buffet is very, very ordinary, choices are basic & food is more often than not cold, There appear to be a lot of buses catering for Asian tourists that use The Front Village, so most mornings the food trays are near empty. Service is always with a smile, however trying to converse or making a request is met with blank stares, they just do not,or they appear to not understand. The a la carte meal at the Resort & Spa is ordered by completing an order form, this will then be interpreted by the cook who usually gets it wrong on every occasion. Order hard boiled eggs & you get fried eggs. Order the American breakfast of fried eggs, bacon & sausage & toast usually means you may get 3 of the 4 & these will be delivered on separate plates at separate times. Trying to sort this out with wait staff gets you the usual puzzled stare. We had a few issues, the room safewould not unlock on 2 occasions & we needed someone to fix, the air conditioner hand control needed new batteries to operate the A/C. We had to contact reception a couple of times to request fresh towels as room had not been made up for us by early arvo. So maybe we were considered whingers which probably explains the very dour & unhappy response from one particular receptionist. On checking out & paying the bill we didn't even receive a smile, only the comment that they would go & check room & contents before we left ! Only saving grace for this place is the pool (don't even think of the Jacuzzi.Filthy!) nice place to relax, but it also needs some TLC. All in all, a disappointing stay, we will avoid this place if we are to return to Karon.
We stayed for 4 nights at this resort and did enjoy our stay here. We just felt the place lacked a little care and finesse. We stayed in the private villas which were lovely and comfortable. The padlock lock on the doors was a little strange we thought and needs to be addressed a more secure method of locking the accommodation. The resort was very quiet during our stay and there was ground improvement work taking place which looks very promising. There is a poolside bar that is very good but not really very inviting a little bit of decoration or lights would make it much more inviting. The area around the pool and sun beds are very tired looking and again do not look very inviting. We booked breakfast and were told it would be in the poolside restaurant, we headed there on our first morning and were told our breakfast would be served in the main hotel across the drive. Nothing about this was inviting the small terrace looked out onto the main road, the food provision was very poor and in appetising, very basic western food provision that was very bland and tasteless. One selection of white bread, bowl of yoghurt with diced fruits same each day. We did not enjoy eating there at all. Most of the time we felt we were alone at the resort, we did not have much interaction with staff. I had two of the best spa treatments I have ever had and would well recommend the spa and the girls in there even tho it is only s temporary set up inside one of the villas it was beautiful. With some attention to detail this place could be amazing. It was good value for money and we did enjoy the stay, however, it is currently definitely only 3stars not 4 as advertised. It is relatively close to beach but still a good walk through a park area about 5 mins. It is easy to stroll to main Karon beach but it is a good 10-15 mins stroll. All in all a nice enough place.
