Have no complaints about the resort, the staff or our villa. The staff were helpful and polite, our villa was super clean and we asked to be near 4 other members of our group and we were. Resort is well laid out with a family pool, close the main building, which has a swim up bar and childrens swimming areas and slide. The pool nearest our villa was quieter. There is a busy road that separates the hotel from the beach so there are no beach villa options. Beach itself is lovely and clean.... plenty of watersports on offer as well as bars. Also great for long beah walks. The childrens club was excellent. Really good quality and plenty of personnel there. We left a 2 year old and she loved it and wanted to go back. Karon is a smaller resort a little quieter than its neighbouring Patoong.... so depending what you want. As we were on a family holiday and we didn´t want to stay in the hotel every evening, I was glad we were in Karon. The only complaint I have was our New Years Eve Dinner. We had booked into an open air restaurant and it rained. There was no plan B, no one knew what to do, so we ended up moving our own tables under cover. Our food came in no particular order and our drinks came after we´d finished which was really disappointing. Lots of annoyed people and stressed out staff not knowing what to do. Given the propensity for rain showers I would have thought the hotel might have checked the weather put up big pool umbrellas...however, the music and DJ was brilliant. We went out onto the beach after midnight and lit lanterns for a few absent loved ones....
This i a very good choice when traveling to Phuket in Thailand. A good place for kids with family. I have stayed at Hilton that is nearby and both of these hotel is safe. The bed is usually harder in Thailand, but here you get a "normal" bed. The breafast is great and several activities for kids.
The service is really good! Help us heat the food. And also call the car to next hotel for us. The meals are delicious. All good. Recommend to couple and family. I would like to stay more time. Best experience.
What an amazing place! Set on a huge piece of land right in front of Karon Beach, Movenpick will not disappoint. From the moment you walk into the building your senses are engaged with smell, sound and culture. We stayed in a villa with a roof top private pool. The villa was huge, air conditioned and nestled away. There are different pools there and a dedicated pool for villas. The food amazing - I miss the buffet breakfast! The meals for dinner and breakfast fantastic. Several different dining options. We went to the spa daily for massages which was so indulgent. There is a style of accommodation for families and couples. Then you take a step off the property and you are on Karon beach and a short stroll to the shops and bazaar. Our highlight in all this fine indulgence was the service! Warm and friendly and helpful. We actually have stayed in contact with Poah (sorry if this is spelt incorrect). Whilst there is much to see and experience in Phuket, all you need in with Movenpick! Highly recommend for honeymoons and couples but also perfect for families!
I really don’t get the good reviews this Hotel receives. Get a Garden Villa they said, staff great they said. Where have you people stayed previously? First off, I will commend the Manager for upgrading our garden villa to deluxe garden villa after chatting about the condition of our original room. Also, all correspondence with the Hotel was promptly replied, and cordial. So, where do I start? Mold in the shower, 45 minutes for room service to bring a bucket of ice? Or how about waiting so long at the coconut pool(exclusive for villa guests) for your lunch order, you, and another party of guests you don’t even know, cancel your orders in disgust. Just watching the food and beverage delivery around the pool was painful. Orders for 2 or more parties came out at the same time, as you watch your cool drinks and beer slowly heat up whilst server goes to others first.....not enough staff, kitchens too far from pool area, such a poorly run food and beverage service, including the buffet breakfast, where getting a coffee to start is another waiting game. All this is not 4-5 star hotel quality. We paid top dollar not only because we were there over Christmas, but because reviews were so good, and I don’t mind, IF get what I pay for! Another let down, why show views of the coconut pool in your hotel photos, of big wood lounges with the thick blue cushions, only to arrive to cheap Bunnings style hard as rock metal and mesh crap? Some with dirt or mold also visible, with one chair pointed out to staff as ripped by another guest, and it just stayed there the rest of the week... I can not in good conscious let anyone else stay here and spend their hard earned money without telling them there are much better hotels, much better service, and far better English communication in Phuket. Holiday Inn Busakorn Wing is one.
This hotel used to be awesome. But this days russians seems to have priority for service. Many times talking with crew got interrupted by russian customer and my matter was forgotten. Even i asked kindly finalize with my thing first.
All the staff were always very friendly and efficient . The variety of food at all the different restaurants and cafes was great and delicious. The hotel is located in a great place. The beach is beautiful.
Perfect location, generally lovely staff and always felt safe. We stayed in 2 bedroom Residence suite for 7 nights which was very spacious, clean, modern and tastefully decorated. Suggest if you are thinking of staying in a 2 bedroom apartment to request a top floor (eg 3rd) as can hear kids running around in apartment above you otherwise, and if you want quiet, one away from Mint bar and restaurant and the main road. You should be sacrificing beachfront though. We had top floor beachfront furtherest away from restaurant and found it quiet enough with amazing views. Location of this hotel just superb as the beach infront of the hotel is not crowded with deck chairs - just sea and sand and plenty of room so you aren't right next to anyone. Would definitely recommend and come back!
Stayed in the Movenpick during Christmas and New Year and overall its a good hotel for its location and the general service but in parts its looking tired and could benefit from an update. As a group of 5, we were keen to change our allocated 2 double rooms to something larger for all of us to stay in but didnt seem they were interested and claimed the hotel was full. During our stay there it certainly didnt appear that they were at full capacity at any time. I would definitely recommend the Superior Sea View rooms and if possible request on the higher floors. The rooms themselves were generally ok given we didnt spend too much time in them but as 3 adults sharing we needed a third rollaway bed which made it a little cramped. General facilities were fine, lovely swimming pool, choice of bars, restaurants, a few located near the beach front. There are only a a very few hotels in Phuket located right on the beach , certainly in Karon where we were. Most hotels including Movenpick are separated from the beach by a road but this wasnt a big issue for us. Due to the time of year, there were mostly families but it certainly felt like this is more of a family orientated hotel at any time. Not many activities geared to an older group/singles. Karon area is quiter than neighbouring Kata which suited us but think Kata offers more so would definitely look to stay there on any next visit. Although we didnt visit it Patong sounds like it could have been our worst nightmare, so happy to have avoided it Its fine though if access to ridiculously cheap booze and a throbbing nightlife is what you're looking for. The local beach at Karon is very good, clean but there are many more a short taxi ride away that are much more inspiring, definitely try Nai Harn and Ao Sane. The latter offers fantastic snorkelling and you don;t have to venture too far out to see the wonderful coral and beautiful sealife
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the Movenpick Resort. The staff were the most pleasant, cheerful and helpful of any hotel I have stayed in. The facilities catered perfectly to our desire to simply relax and recover from a stressful year. Thank you so much!
