It's our first time to go together as a family (me,husband&daughter), Sugar Marina Art never disappoint. We were welcomed by a delicious ice cream, our room was so spacious, just perfect for our need, yummy breakfast, free mini bar and replenish everyday, free use of a bag and mat which you can bring to the beach. Did I mention that the beach is just across the street? Yes it is. We'll definitely go back and stay there again. ;)
This place is good value for money. The location is very strategic - nearby to food, night life and the Karon beach. Rooms are nice, clean but to small. They didn't have any lock for the bathroom.. Thanks for the upgrade to poolside room. But I still prefer room with bathtub, the poolside room just have the standing shower only...
Arrived at this hotel early in the morning in the blistering heat. Yes, Phuket can be equally hot as Dubai. The Sugar Marina –Art is situated in Karon. Although I emailed this Hotel numerous times to enquire about requests, I received no replies/feedback. This was very stressful but I persevered with this hotel because: • Location 1 - close to the beach, restaurants, shops, taxi’s, night life, etc • Location 2 – flat ground with easy access. A lot of hotels are situated on hilly slopes accessed through difficult walking or golf carts. Families with the elderly or little children should consider this. • Free Wifi • Free refreshments in the mini bar [1 coke, 1 beer, 2 bottled water, 1 chocolate] everyday. • The budget price - that included breakfast and 1 free lunch • Sea views • Lift – believe or not some hotels have none or just one which caters for all guests and which may be situated far from your room. • Booking on line required no Credit Card details and allowed for late cancellation. Payment at the hotel is taken on arrival. They did check us in early [12pm] but we had to wait in the breakfast area across a side road because of air conditioning. The hotel foyer has fans. All rooms however do have air-cons. Thai people in general are very happy, respectful and full of smiles. So was the reception staff. English can be a problem but we all did cope in communicating. The rooms are small [average], comfortable and clean, with very comfortable beds and modern finishes. They also provide you with 2 large umbrellas in each room which came in handy as September are their monsoon season. We had a room with sea views overlooking part of the main road as well. Only downside is the numerous electric cables that are clumped together spoiling the view. Also makes a loud humming sound when it rains. Breakfast was average and in-house dining is non-existent. They make use of the restaurant called Mamas down the road. Although the hotel does arrange for Taxis, Island hopping and Shows, I found it far cheaper to do this yourself as there are so many of these kiosks situated close to the hotel. All prices are negotiable. Currency exchange on your doorstep as well. Good exchange rate with no commission fees. They also allowed us a two hour late checkout time but beware you will charged for missing items in your room. Would I stay at this hotel again??…that would be a Yes.
Whats good: the room service and the fact that the goods in the refrigerator is free and restocked daily. The location is great as it is near the beach and there is a strip with restaurants and street food nearby Whats bad: there is still a language barrier as I just needed an iron and got everything but an iron and eventually gave up. the breakfast can be missed also.
What's good Make sure to Book the pool access rooms Room is big Staff are very polite Quite Clean Close to the center yet away from the noise What's bad Breakfast real bad, same food everyday Popular to the old Chinese people who doesn't have manners, will cough, gagging sound, loud chatting, burp loud, too many of them at breakfast which will make you leave the table early Toilet has some smell All in all Karon is so nice to stay at. Inexpensive, very nice beach to swim to. Love it. I love Phanee restaurant who has the best Mai thai in the whole area. Only 120 baht. The restaurants in front of the beach are cheaper and way better.
Overall it is okay experience. The reception staff were nice and the staff at breakfast counter were especially nice. Since we are vegetarians, we were eating bread , cornflakes and fruits. one of the staff came to us and suggested that she can ask the cook to make vegetarian fried rice for us. Quite good The room was spacious and had free mini-bar. But the irony is the snicker and juice is there for only one person. Umbrella , beach mat etc are all inside the room. So thats great. Btw for Indian vegetarian food , you can order from Royal Indian Restaurant , Kata . They are quite reasonable and they deliver for a nominal charge The room cleaning lady was disinterested and half the items would be not be cleaned up. We did not make a fuss out of it as most of the trip and stay was okay. I wish the management looked into how she cleans up
Stayed here for three nights. Hotel was very clean and décor so enjoyable!! Room service was not available later into the night which was disappointing however we enjoyed our stay. Buffet Breakfast was a really good variety, Pool beautiful and surrounded by artificial grass you can lie on / lots of sun loungers. A really good location in Karon Beach - easy to access shops/tuktuks/beach area!!
Nice clean hotel.Rooms were a little small but had everything you would want.comfy bed,and a nice showers Wouldn't hesitate to stay again..In a good part of Karon, only a short walk to the beach, bars and restaurants
This was a massive shock to us as we got more than what we paid for, the hotel is in a great location from the beach and has loads of life in the surrounding area's What a bargain, our room was cleaned daily and restocked with some goodies in the fridge! The staff were friendly and always happy to help when needed, definitely recommended if your in the Karon beach area
Stayed in the pool access rooms and the package included breakfast and an unlimited minibar. I think we were only charged 47 USD for it. Pros: Very affordable prices for what we were getting. Free ice cream at the reception while waiting for our rooms. The pool was right at our balcony so we could get in and out of the pool whenever. Unlimited drinks as well!! The beds were very big (they were obviously made of two separate beds joined together though) Breakfast was not bad, a wide array of food western and Asian. The pool side and fake lawn next to it was not huge but definitely enough to accommodate everyone. The location is extremely children friendly too. The best thing about the hotel was that it's location is AMAZING! It is literally 5 mins away from Karon beach and there were plenty of food around the hotel. The hotel offers large beach mats so that was nice. Cons: The room felt quite humid so the sheets didn't feel very clean. As the bed was made of two separate beds the middle part of the bed was uncomfortable. A lot of people got confused as to where the reception was but it's not a major issue. Walls aren't the most noise isolating. We had an incident where our tv was off but we still heard sounds coming out of it. We unplugged the tv and still heard female voices coming from it. Needless to say I thought it there was some paranormal activity going on and was so ready to demand for a switch of rooms. When the technician came over he laughed and the reception told us the sounds were from the next door rooms television! Perhaps they could work a little on the cleanliness and brightness of the breakfast area. Despite the cons I would not mind coming again because again- you get what you pay for and if you're sightseeing and out of the hotel most of the time the problems won't be a huge issue.
