After spending a two month holiday at budget hotels all over Asia my partner and i decided to spoil ourselves and spent about 5 fold the price of our other hotels to stay here at Centara Kata Beach and spoil ourselves a little. Little did we know this would by far be the worst place we would stay. Aside from being a bit old and run down, you have to walk a good ten minutes from room to restaurant/pool/street level due to the design of the hotel. That was the least of our worries. After the first night my partner and i were completely covered in bed bug bites. It was a living nightmare. We were moved the following day to another room (seemed like we had been downgraded too) only to wake up during the night and find fresh bites. We proceeded to have another 2 terrible, excruciatingly itchy nights stay there which by the end of we looked like we had measles or some sort of skin disease. We were covered neck down despite laying out towels and other protective layers. We showed hotels staff who discovered the bed bugs on underside of mattress and despite this it took a great deal of conversation and follow up emails before we received one free nights compensation (of 4) which took 6 weeks to end up coming. Not goos enough what a shocking way to end an otherwise great trip. Stay away at all costs!!
Our dream to visit Thailand begun on 15 December when we arrive in Centara Kata Resort Phuket. We stay here for one week in room 6102, which have a good view on the garden and a lovely terrace, even that in the early mornings when we drink our coffee, little mouses come to visit us. Need maybe a little bit more pest control over the area. The room was nice even that in one week they never change our towels or the bed. Also, they never wash or disinfect the pavement. But we ignore this just for the fact that we leave the room early due to the trips booked over the day and we return late evening with the wish to make a shower and sleep straight away. The breakfast was good with multiple choices so at this point we were happy. Staff is amiable and able to help you when you need. Need to provide them more training at the cleaning section, but for the rest, they are lovely people. If we return in the future and these little changes are made we suppose that will be 100 percent positive experience because we are in love with Thailand.
When we selected Centara Kata as the hotel as our holiday destination I was driven by the fact that we enjoyed staying at the hotel of the same chain in the past. We are traveling with husband and 2-year old kid for 3 week holidays. I am always objective on my reviews to base them on facts and evidence. Here are my observations. 1. Service is below the standards of 4-star facility. Cleaning were never been completed before we came back from the beach at lunch time. Irrespective of 3 people occupancy we had never had more than 2 sets of towels, toiletries and bottles of water. The floor in the room and tiles in the bathroom has never been cleaned with washing liquids. Dust on the shelves was never wiped. The pillows smells sweat of generations of the guests and the towels smells like over-dried in the dryer. 2. Hygiene Rats on the balcony in the evenings made my baby scared. I do not even tell that they are a source of infection. It is not surprising because there is a public storm sewage next to the hotel that brings all dirty waters of the town through the hotel. At the breakfast the waiters clean then tables by the same garment every day. You may imagine how many bacteria are on it. It also smells not well. Tables at the pool were never wiped. 3. Staff attitude and absence of training. The hotel is 10 minutes drive from the closest busy beach. Sitting with the baby inside the beach bus we were discharged from the bus although people who signed off later for this bus remained at the bus (attendant’s name - Tee). I do not argue that I shall be seated at the bus but my 2-year old daughter was left behind with the bus full all adults departed to the beach. At the breakfast I took 2 bananas for my kid to bring to the room. My daughter doesn’t eat anything at the breakfast since any hot porridge is not served although the hotel is claimed as children-friendly one. I was told by the hostess that I cannot bright banana out of the breakfast room. I value the rules of the hotel but in parallel middle-age men went out with the glass of juice and two croissants and was not told anything. It looks like rules shall be applicable to everybody with no discrimination. I do not add any more examples where the staff behaved inappropriately in terms of quality and promptness of the service and leave it to the Thai service culture. It is up to you to decide but I would never select Centara hotel, especially, Centara Kata for my future stays at vacations.
It had been a dream of mine to visit Thailand for some 25 years. I finally made it with my husband and was not disappointed. I had been recommended by a friend to stay at the Centara Kata Resort in Phuket. Our room (4303) over looking the pool was a dream. The room was immaculate and cleaned daily. We ate on a numerous of occasions in the resorts restaurant, called Seasons and was never disappointed. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Our package deal included a buffet breakfast which covered a huge variety of foods and again we were never disappointed. The hotel and all it's facilities is suitable for couples and families alike. The hotel and all it's surroundings including the pool are of high standard. We would like to say a special thanks to Don, Ann, Chrit and Boy who were just a few of the staff members that made our stay at the Centara Kata Resort magical. We will definitely return to Thailand and will stay at the Centara Kata Resort. Good luck to you all, Nikos and Julie.
I struggled with whether to give the hotel 3 or 4 stars. It’s location is near perfect as you are just off the main road with bars and restaurants close by. There is also a 7/11 just outside the hotel where you can stock up on water and drinks for your room. The rooms are really rather tired and don’t have the luxury finish of other hotels. In saying that, we were upgraded to a family room which had a big fridge and cooking facilities which was a nice bonus. The breakfast was a little disappointing. It had the main items you would expect but again the restaurant was quite tired and there were lots of pigeons around landing on the tables and cutlery which was quite unsanitary. The pools were well maintained. Service was generally good. Overall I would recommend the hotel if you are looking for a good location and not a luxury hotel.
I travelled with family and friends we all had a lovely stay. Rooms were colourful and spacious (I love having a big walk-in shower in the bathroom) and in a great location by the elephant pool. The staff are really good at the hotel, pleasant, helpful and well-motivated - hotels are nothing without good staff and they all do a great job. A special mention to Pla who did an excellent job of cleaning our rooms, Faii and also Nancy - thank you all for everything you did for us to make our stay enjoyable. We went to the Thai buffet which had musicians and traditional Thai dancing and it was excellent. The only downside was there were very few people there. It would be good if the hotel could encourage more people to go along perhaps by putting information on the tables at breakfast time or even sending an email to guests during their stay. Just a thought! It really was very good and a shame to miss it. Thank you Centara, once again for a lovely stay :-)
Great family resort. Kids club there but we did not need to use it this trip. Pools cater really well to kids and adults. Close walk to beach and shops. Lovely rooms, service really friendly and well delivered. Hot wok. Might in the restaraunt a little disappointing but small complaint for a great holiday.
The room was quite spacious. Even though it looked like there were some renovations done recently, the room felt quite old and beat up. The furniture was old and dinged up. There isn't much light in the room, so it can feel very dark, especially in the evening. It wasn't very clean either, with some dirt in the bathroom and stains on curtains. Swimming pools looked nice, but I didn't have a chance to use them. The highlight of my stay was the staff, they were very attentive and most of the time helpful. If my options were limited, I would consider staying here again, but there are usually better places to stay.
The resort is modern and clean located close to many restaurants and bars within a short walk from the nearest beach. The staff at the resort are keen to help at all times and always friendly, happy and polite. We had a problem with the drainage in our room and within minutes of reporting it, someone was on hand to fix the problem and an alternative room was offered. The manager went out of his way to personally find me and personally apologise and offer a compensation. I would highly recommend the resort to anyone it is great value for money and an excellent place to stay!
This is a great resort and good value for Money. Walking Distance or take the free shuttle to Kata Beach. Nice rooms. Good location near to shops, restaurants and bars and Dino Park. Highly recommended resort. Nice pools and good for Children with family rooms.
