We have just left after 10 days. We have teenage children so opted for the one room with 2 double beds. Our room was great! It was on the second floor overlooking the waves pool. This pool is quite and more private. However we chose to use the Emerald pool. Thus was mainly because the waves pool is one depth end to end (1.5m), very sunny most of the day too. We lived the Emerald pool and the kids (and parents) loved the slide! The hotel location is great! 5-20mins walk to Kata and Karon beach! Places to shop, eat and get pampered on the doorstep. Try to venture out though, some great little places to eat if you walk on the main road heading towards Karon, check out little side streets and alleys too!! The only part we would like to see improvement in, is breakfast at the hotel. Unfortunately there are often a lot of people (we ate between 7:30 and 8:30). The staff can't seem to keep up with the food, they often ran out of basic food, eggs, bacon etc. people often load up on food though, especially the cakes and fruit, then take it for later, we saw a lot of this!! Bit unfair really!! All in all we loved our stay and would recommend it to families of all ages!!
Our room was well equipped for travelling with young children (2 under 3). Small kitchenette, microwave, fridge and freezer. Kettle was a bit small but did the job. Rest of the main room is a rather uncomfortable sofa and table. We were given a cot and pull up bed for the two kids, all in the adjacent bedroom with us. There was enough space and it didn't feel cramped. Big balcony with clothes airer - handy. Unfortunately there was no bath but the shower was big enough for everyone to shower at once, so it didn't really matter! Quality of fixtures and fitting is very standard, nothing exceptional. 3 star I would say. Generally, everything is a little tired in the room but you're hardly there so didn't bother us. The best bit about the hotel are the 3 pools, one of which in particular is great for kids - sizeable with a smaller pool only 40cms deep for very small children. There's a slide as well - hours of fun even though it's only small. Breakfast was served in one of two restaurants (Waves is better if you don't mind the heat as it's right by one of the pools, and a very relaxing way to start the day). Standard buffet affair, and there is an eggs station. Don't expect amazing food but it's perfectly decent and there's plenty of it. There are ping pong tables around and loads of inflatable stuff as well. Great soft play area, playground and sandy football pitch too. Stroll outside of the hotel and there's a few restaurants around in the evening - we always went out for dinner. Better value and more variety than the hotel we thought (although we didn't eat any evening meal in the hotel to be fair). Shuttle to the beach runs in the morning - every 30mins until 11am - so you need to get organised. You can cab or walk 10mins back. No shuttle. Overall, we had a great time there.
Absolutely nothing was too much trouble for the lovely staff. All so very friendly and helpful. Rooms very clean. Pools all beautiful and gardens kept manicured. We would not hesitate to stay again and highly recommended.
Just returned form staying here and we enjoyed the time. Location, despite what people say, is just "OK" for beach access and about a 20 minute walk. They do offer a shuttle in the mornings which we used so that is good. The issue is that Club Med have a massive resort on the block back from the beach which means all the hotels behind Club Med have a long detour to access the beach, around the Club Med compound. We experienced a slight issue with the rooms, as we had reserved 2 rooms and asked for connecting or adjoining in an email before we arrived. Of course when we arrived they had nothing and could only offer us one upgrade room and the second room at the end of the block (not even next door).Eventually we settled for the upgrade family room only, but it makes you wonder why you bother with the effort prior! Room itself was good for the family - King in the bedroom and 2 pullout beds in the living area for the kids (essentially 2 single beds). Clean, aircon is great although the internet was "intermittent" as each room as a server access - we just used the other rooms access! Room also had a small kitchenette so if you really wanted to you could cook (2 stove tops, microwave, utensils and plates). Not sure I would ever bother at Phuket prices but you have the option. Complex is good for families - 2 general pools and one adults only. Good idea. Breakfast offering was pretty good and we also used the 1/2 board package for evening meals as it was excellent value when we booked. Evening meals offered 5 set Thai menus and 4 set European menus. We enjoyed the menus although found the Thai quite spicy. We also got to enjoy 2 buffets (instead of the set menus) but found these a little disappointing in range of food and quality. Loved the shops and facilities outside the hotel, and make sure you try Phu Massage ad Spa (turn left once you exit the hotel and walk about 20-30 metres and it's on the opposite side of the road). Same prices as most other places but spotlessly clean, well managed and they will talk you through all the options. Massage is really good as well! Overall a good stay and good value for family accommodation.
Awesome place to stay ,very clean staff are friendly & helpful Breakfast was good , away from the road so quiet location .private adult only pool area , great to get away from the family if thats what you want ,pool party, BBQ was an added extra ...awesome
The Resort is in a good location. It has good access to the beach and local shops (7-11 shop is just outside of the resort) and good massage shops. Resort provides free shuttle bus to Kata beach in the mornings. It is good value for money.
We stayed here for a week. The room was large, comfy bed, good air con which was a must in this heat, decent size bathroom, complimentary water, free wifi. The resort had three swimming pools but we spent most of our time in the main pool which had a swim up bar. The only negative about the pools is they close daily at 7pm for cleaning. It was a pity that they couldn't have just one pool open till at least 10pm. Daily happy hours on beer and cocktails, good value. The buffet breakfast was delicious, really enjoyed that. The resort is close by to eateries, massages, shops, beach etc. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Nice and Clean. Service works well. 2 main pool areas are nice. Althou the "adventure" poolside can be crowded and people "book" the sunbeads before breakfast with their towls just to return after a long time! One wierd thing is "happy hour". You get 2 drinks for the price of one, but even at the same price you can´t order 2 different types of drinks.. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Spent in Centara Kata Resort for 14 days with my wife and 1 year old son. Plus: + We booked our stay straight from hotels website. There was promotion "free half board" and it was worth the money (reservation from hotel's website was bit more expensive than from different travelsites without halfboard). You could choose from 4 thaifood or 4 western food menu every day/evening and there was also buffet 3 nights a week. Food was very delicious. Restaurants were quite empty in the evenings so we got fast service. Some evening they brought us extra free drinks and some evenings not. There wasn't logic everytime. If I ordered Chang I got one Chang free but if I ordered Chang and whiskey they only brought that one Chang. + Pools are good. Our room was at the "Waves pool" and I think it is better, more open enviroment and enough personal space. Other pool seemed to be very crowded and pool chairs always full. + Location is good. 15 minutes walk from the beach. Remember to walk southways (turn left on main road) so you don't have to go through terrible smelly drain river. Also shops and everything are near. Kata is quite peaceful small town. Perfect for families with small children. + Staff were nice and always smiling to the baby. Also other guests were mostly families with kids (mostly finnish, scandis, russians, few aussies, chinese and european) and atmosphere was happy. + Kids room is good. Minuses: - Breakfast buffet is very basic. Poor quality bacon and meat selection. Thai food options and omelet cook are the good parts. - We got very sick in the hotel (foot-hand-mouth disease aka. enterorokko in finnish). Our baby maybe drunk some water in kids pool or something else, could be anything from pool area to kids room. He was sick for 2-3 days and we visited doctor in Phuket International Hospital. After that we parents were very sick for 4-5 days. It was very hard to even eat anything or walk with all the terrible rash in foot and blisters in throat. There was also another family who got the same disease. - Facilities are bit tired and dirty. You could find lot to repair from the hotel area. The gym was the strangest place: ceiling was dropping water and there were small buckets on the floor. They fixed the ceiling one day and couple of days later it was dropping water again. You could see very harsh damages there. It was very hot too, air conditioning did't work properly in the gym. Music: same 10 songs repeating everyday - of course you could bring your own too. - Wifi in room cost 1000 bahts (unlimited for month). It was fast but it should be free. So all in all hotel is nice with good half board (otherwise food was quite expensive, typical hotel prices) but I've been on better 3-4 star hotels in Phuket area than this 4 star hotel. They should renovate the place. If you travel with kids this is good choice, just remember to take travel insurance.
We stayed here for 10 days with our friends and it was awesome!! We had six in our family so had the family suite which opened out onto patio poolside.. kids had so much fun on slide and adults so much fun at pool bar, resort staff so friendly and local dairy at end of drive was awesome!!
