We stayed here for two weeks on the fourth floor with a sea/pool view. The rooms we spacious and gorgeous. The hotel its self was lovely too, friendly helpful staff. Lovely beach bang facing and plenty of stuff to do near by. I got a birthday cake left in our room too which was a very special touch. Would definitely stay again.
Major renovation going on, grinding and nail guns most of the day. All in the central area of resort. Staff have very limited English and un helpful. Babysitting available but once again do not speak English. If your kids like hi fiving for 3 hrs they'll be fine. Otherwise u will have to return early and never use again like us. Great location tho. #nevertoreturn
This is our 3rd visit at Kata Beach Resort and Spa and previously I have rated these guys a 5 star experience. However, this time our experience was somewhat different! We booked pool access deluxe rooms which we were really looking forward to after having seen them over our last two visits. We knew there were some renovations to be happening throughout this stay, and due to the low season, we understand they have to do this to keep the resort fresh and new. One morning we were sitting outside on our lounge chairs next to our pool when without warning paint starting dripping down on to us. We looked up to see workman painting on the 3rd floor and decided it was best to go indoors for a while. The next day, we were sitting outside and bits of debris were falling down onto us and all over our private paved areas next to our chairs. Again we looked up and were told to go inside or move!! This was all good and well but out airconditioner was on the blink and it was 28 degrees inside like a sauna. We reported this to reception at breakfast, and had to go back 3 more times as no one had come to fix the problem. So we couldn't sit in our room, we couldn't sit out on our deck - we had to go out!! By this time, i had asked to see the Manager Glenn but he was always ""in a meeting"". After going out for the day, we had come home to find our aircon now working thank goodness but outside the debris was still everywhere. So much for us paying the extra money to indulge in the private pool access rooms, we hardly got to sit outside not to mention the banging directly opposite us. Because of the renos going on, we had received a complimentary dinner to be used whilst we stayed here. We don't usually eat at the resorts but thought the Asian Buffet sounded nice. I'm not sure if it was the chicken or the fish, but no sooner had i returned from dinner, my stomache started churning. I spent the whole night with vomiting and diarrhoea, it was absolutely awful. Now for the positive side of things. The rooms were clean and the pools nice and refreshing. The breakfasts are always awesome and the location of this resort is just perfect. After being so sick, the cleaners were fantastic, came in and changed fresh sheets for us. Toiletries supplied and lovely big pink beach towels for the pool. Glenn the Manager is a great guy and organised us complimentary transport down to Beyond Karon Resort upon departure. Everything about this resort is fantastic, we just had a couple of things this time that happened that affected our experience. It is still one of our favourite places to stay and we will always come back here. Hopefully next time, we will get to use our pool access rooms.
Very happy with my room. The balcony was within spitting distance to the beach. A bit of refurbishment going on but not the intrusive sort. If you're looking for a beach and a pool then this is it. Guests here have the best seats in all of Kata. Cost of airport transfer from the hotel is a bit silly, there's a taxi rank opposite the entrance where you can get it cheaper.
The hotel location is very good as you have options to get to patong or stay local which is more peaceful. Loved the food at pool restaurant area, good quality and variety which was reasonably priced. clean, foyer outdated but overall ok. Needs a refurb.
Great location, walk from your room to the beach via the pool. Countless restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk. Rooms are undergoing much needed refurbishment, staff helpful but do not seem happy. Had various problems with our rooms from air con not efficient, shower no pressure, toilet blocked! Problems were attended to as reported. The Thai massage in the day spa wonderful, ask for Arissara Keeri (nick named 'Day') she was fantastic. Apart from all this, would stay there again just for the location. When refurb completed (I would say 6-8 months) should be really good.
i remember where i've already seen this hotel, Kabul-Afghanistan^^ I understand that maintain a good looking hotel is quiet difficult on the shore, but there is a limit. Just destroy it all and set up something new please. From outside it's just look like an old sand castle and inside, well i hope you like the aircon cause it's smell the old dust, and the infrastructure of that place make it very noisy. In your room will hear absolutly everything that happen in the corridor. Just bad. Definitly not a quiet place except from 2am to 6am. Not to mention that major renovation has just started, but you will not find any information about this on their website. Way to go. Staff were ok, i ve seen worst than that but definitly they cant give u more than 20% of what a 4 star hotel staff can offer you in bangkok. In my opinion everything is overprized, all the drinks are rate in euro standard and even more. To resume, this hotel is just good for new rude tourists who arent able to speak a word of english, guys you know what im talking about^^ If you are looking for a nice quiet place, forget that place and forget kata area, there are plenty more options for a chill vacation. Woops i forget something, if u dont book ur room trough their website, you will be charge for wifi^^ 2017, final joke.
Myself and my husband stayed here for 9 nights on our recent trip to Phuket. This was our second visit to the Hotel, having stayed here previously in 2015. Some renovation work was being carried out which I think the Hotel needs but all in all, a great hotel with the most beautiful views. We had a minor issue with the Pool Bar, however Glenn, the Manager, sorted that out for us and for that we thank you Glenn. I am sure that with Glenn on board, the Hotel will continue to thrive. He certainly is making a difference. Will definitely return again.
This is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. It is completely run down, there is paint chipping everywhere on the sea view room balcony, roaches in the room. We asked to borrow an iron, the iron was from the seventies ,old with a strayed cord and the housekeeper had the nerve to tell us we had to sign for it and we only had two hours to use it. The beach in front of the hotel is the only good thing about this hotel. The staff were not friendly, this is uncommon for thai culture. They are usually the most cordial people. We forfeited two nights stay just to get out of there. We paid extra to move our flight. No one helped with luggage, the staff just giggle and talk amongst eachother like it's social hour all day. I was tricked into booking this hotel on hotels.com.
This was our last stop on honeymoon and after reading reviews I was a bit worried however when we arrived we were met by a lovely smiley girl who gave us fruit punch, cold flannel and checked us in straight away and told us we had been upgraded to a superior deluxe room. We were given 5 day free wifi passes too which was a bonus. When we got to our room there was flower petals on the bed, fruit basket and cake saying happy honeymoon which was a very nice touch. Pool area was great, always plenty sun loungers and swim up bar was pretty nice! Great location for the beach, shops, restaurants and bars. With regards to the room I think it's a case of you get what you pay for, it is more of a old fashioned hotel but they were doing renovations when we were there. Would say it's 3 stars for hotel itself but the good service really made it 4. Thanks
