Well.. it's just not good. Very dated, everything looks old, feels old and just unattractive. Constant problems with water pressure. Constant problems with AC (had to complain a few times, and still, it was horrible -- very loud & fan works all the time regardless of the current temperature & temperature setting). Questionable room service -- sometimes they forgot to put bathroom amenities [by the way -- only 1 small tube of shampoo/shower gel for double room/couple] or water. TV is also very old with awful signal (didn't matter for us, but still, not good) Last floor (5) doesn't have an elevator, so you need to take stairs from the fourth floor. Even worse, it seems there was only one small stifling elevator (which was out of service at least couple of times during our stay). Breakfast was very basic & almost the same every day. -- Well, location is good -- just across the road from Karon Beach. Good tour/ticket desk on-site with Katy -- she gives a good price from the start and informs about everything very clearly.
I stayed at Woraburi in Karon Beach Thailand recently for a family vacation. The staff at the resort were by far the most welcoming, warm, and helpful crew I have ever come accross. Particularly the manager of the resort, May. May went above and beyond to make our stay in Thailand enjoyable and she offered a helping hand at any time and in any way she could - the most lovable management I have ever met. I have been to many resorts and hotels accross the world, but I have to say that Woraburi stood out went it came to exceptional service. Will certainly return!!!
I've stayed in all ranges of hotels and believe you have to align expectations with the price and the promise. I understood this was not a 5 star Ritz and could have forgiven many things such as: 1. The pool. Many have commented on the tiles and we realized mid swim that none of the tiles are grouted. That is why they all seem broken or sharp and pointy--no grout. Yikes. 2. Just average rooms and comfort (aside from my big issue below) 3. Awful onsite food. (think it caters to Eastern European or other countries but there were 5 types of breakfast hotdog) For the price I was okay with the average rooms and comfort, the tiles that weren't grouted if only the air conditioning worked. I get that things break but this was repeatedly broken for most of our trip. The staff acted surprised every single morning when I arrived to tell the the AC was again broken throughout the night only to find out from my sister in a room a few doors down that hers went out again as well. the staff did a horrible job of communicating the issue, fixing the issue and resolving the issue. My sister did finally get another room and an apology fruit basket after repeatedly explaining that a pool access room to a pool access room was not an upgrade (and who cares if it is because the AC is broken) but I guess because I didn't complain quite enough, I didn't get even an apology or acknowledgment that no AC was a problem. I spent more money at this place expecting basic provisions such as AC but instead found many sleepless nights and no offers from mgmt to resolve the issue. Also at checkout I spent 20 minutes debating a "missing glass" from my room that they wanted to charge $10 for. Really. $10 glass in Thailand? I can see that the staff has it tough and where that might come from as I watched many of the other tourists raiding the cleaning cart and taking all of the toiletries (true) or packing up food from the breakfast area like it was a supermarket. That was the toughest tourist population I'd ever personally dealt with, but 20 minutes over a glass? My mom had to explain to them in Thai that I never had glasses. The hospitality team almost never brought the same thing twice--I had spoons and coffee cups one day, none the next, plates one morning and not the next. It's obvious they don't follow a checklist when equipping the room so arguing about a glass was ridiculous. And the crowd. I know that the hotel cannot control that and truthfully I feel bad for them, but it put me off from wanting to ever vacation in places popular with some nationalities. In one week I was literally pushed 4-5 times, run into every day without apology, woken to the most awful blaring music at 5 am, argued with a woman in our respective languages because she wanted a chair I rented because it was empty for a few minutes, and inundated with cigarettes until I smelled like one myself. Unfortunately you can't isolate the hotel experience if you know that the guest population will always be part of it. Even with all of the negative, there were a few redemptive moments to call out;; 1. Swim out access rooms are awesome. It's a thing I didn't know I needed until I experienced it. 2. Katie at the tour desk was awesome. Booked our tours, made recommendations and ensured we had fantastic activities with hotel pickup whenever we needed. Definitely let Katie help you determine which activities and when.
Good position , right opposite the beach, this hotel is very tired and in need of renovation, room are dated and tired, everything looks like it should have been thrown in the skip years ago,, Staff are very good, but all needs updating.
The staff of the hotel was beyond unfriendly and uncooperative. I received an email one day prior to my arrival that my reservation has been cancelled after the hotel had try to use my credit card number and wire themselves the money before my check in. As you can imagine they couldnt use it and emailed me to let me know that i should either send a scan of my credit card (as if) or they will release my room. Violating its own cancellation rules which clearly state that under no circumstances rooms should be paid before the arrival. This whole thing was topped by the courtesy of the staff who gave my room to someone else who was quicker to take the key from their hand.. The resort is also a mekka for russians so unless you fancy the russian speech 24/7 being yelled around you, save yourself the money and go elsewhere. I won't comment on the quality of the food since it was looking so bad i opted out to have breakfast somewhere outside of the hotel.
Would have been a nice place in its heydey, but that has been long gone a millennium ago. Now a mecca for eastern block tourists, that I guess like loud hip-hop music at breakfast. Beds are as hard as a rock, but rooms are large and spacious. Good location right across the road from the beach
This resort is one of your cheaper resorts. Great to see that the resort is constantly doing maintenance on the property. There are so many Russians that stay here and they are not friendly at all. I felt the staff were not friendly at first until they realised we were Australian and then they started being friendly to us. I have stayed in Thailand many times and was a little disappointed by the buffet breakfast. I had better at other resorts. I want to thank and acknowledge the great service from three staff members. Kik , Kim and Tata were so much fun and so friendly. This is how all the staff should be. They should be rewarded. It was disappointing to see prostitutes in the resort staying with guests obviously this was permitted as no one is monitoring this.
the hotel is not a fancey as it pretends to be, if youre a chav you'll love it. its just like benidorm,(if never been but i've seen the tv show) the whole town. apart from the beach thier is nothing to do. If you're cultured then the best thing to do is stay in phuket old town but take day trips to the beach. The reception staff aren't friendly, the pool was filled with euro trash. Wi fi is terriable and the shrunk our clothes when they washed them. We also booked a super delux room and apart from extra space thier was no difference. When we arrived the lift was broke, our room wasn't cleaned properly, mirrors were dirty. Bathroom - only one temperture with the shower, Scholding hot.
I had a wonderful time at this resort! Staff were attentive and all my needs taken care off.. Definitely recommend it! The food was good and it was quite tranquil so, a restful night throughout my stay.. Great!
If you want to be close to the fabulous Karon beach I would recommend this great hotel. We had a superior room which was very clean with air conditioning, balcony and a terrific sea view. We really enjoyed the breakfasts and lovely pool with a swim-up bar. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
