I stayed for one night - checking in around 10:30pm and leaving at 7:30am. The check in was quick. There is free parking after 6pm to the following 8am in a public car park 200 meters from the Hotel. There are double yellow lines immediately outside the hotel (overseas travellers that means no parking at any time day or night). I picked this hotel as it offered good value £45 b&b. It was spotlessly clean, the decor is tired. My room had two single beds - incredibly narrow single beds. Although the city centre was busy, my room was on the 2nd floor away from the street and was completely quiet. The route to the room was a bit of a maze! The ensuite facilities were amongst the smallest I’ve ever seen - all worked. There was a good supply of towels. The tea / coffee in the room was good and provided Walker’s shortbread. The furniture in the room is dated. Although breakfast is not served until 8am on a Sunday, I was disappointed the receptionist didn’t offer me the option of even a cold breakfast as I had to leave at 7:30am. For me, it was fine. If you want to be in the city centre, the location is good especially if you just want somewhere clean to lay your head.
Stayed recently overnight using a voucher , the staff were friendly and helpful in th reception and the restaurant. The hotel however badly needs a refurb, it was like going back 20 years. The room was relatively clean and spacious however the toilet wasnt, it badly needs ripped out and replaced. The food available due to the voucher was very limited which is fine, however the salmon and vegetables was swimming in the lemon oil which wasn’t great. On a plus the hotel is in a great location for nearby bars which are really good. I wouldn’t rush back, sorry.
Stayed at Salutation and had lovely time. Was in a refurbished room which had syylish decor. Evening meal and breakfast to a high standard. Public rooms also recently decorated and looking great. Staff very friendly and helpgul. Cant wait to return.
Stayed at the Salutation last week for the 3rd time there was a mix up with my booking even though my booking had been cancelled and l had booked a single room they gave me a lovely premier room which was lovely .the breakfast was amazing and the staff were charming as always l took my brother for the first time and he loved it you get free car parking all night just put a £1 in the meter in the morning . Thanks to all the staff for looking after us we will be back next year
Firstly the positives, great location, staff extremely helpful and hotel full of character. Room was ok. However, it’s not often I stay in a hotel and the breakfast is just not edible. I can only assume the chef hates cooking it so much he deliberately under cooks it. The sausages were anaemic at best and the bacon was so undercooked it was transparent. Ands what with a choice of pork and apple or gluten free? Whatever happened to a normal sausage or even a Scottish one? I ended up leaving it and getting a roll from Baynes. I do hope you sort this l, it was such a let down.
We booked a surprise party for my Brothers 70th birthday. The hotel staff were friendly and professional. The food was good with vegetarian and vegan options. We had a private room which was lovely. Great day .
We were recently in Dundee for a wedding and decided to stop in at Perth for lunch at the Salutation Hotel while travelling back to Glasgow. The hotel itself is the oldest in Scotland and this is apparent from the historic character of the property. The bar area with its period features and large traditional windows is a very pleasant place to relax. The staff provided us with a very warm welcome and service throughout our time. Upon being seated we were informed that they had just launched their new menu. This consists of mostly pub classics but to a very high level. Myself and my partner started by ordering a haggis fritter for myself and the chicken strips for my partner as a starter. Let me start by saying that although my haggis starter was very nice, I was also very jealous of my partner as I’d made the mistake of trying her chicken strips and they were exceptional. The chicken breast itself was very tender and coated in a light, crispy batter all complimented by a very tasty sweet chilli sauce. The portion also was very generous and could easily be mistaken for a main. As for the main, we both ordered the steak pie which was also a very large portion. The steak meat was cooked to perfection in a very tasty gravy, topped by a light and flaky pastry. I honestly could not fault our lunch at all and have to applaud the kitchen staff for serving up honest, traditional cooking to such a high level. I could not recommend this place highly enough and will definitely return next time I’m in the area.
Stayed at the salutation hotel in Perth for 4 nights. I've stayed in lots of different hotels and the difference with this stay was the really friendly staff and the amazing bar food. Last bit least, a hotel with history and a Scottish character. Highly recommended.
Stayed over using a 5pm voucher. Thank goodness I didn’t pay full price. Room was small but refurbished and clean. The decor in most of the hotel is tired. Dinner brought back memories of the school dining hall. The food was tepid at best and the service was shambolic. Breakfast although a good selection was again tepid at best. Service was better at breakfast. Would I recommend to a friend? No.
Just had a 2 night stay with breakfast and dinner. On the 3rd floor in room 327 which seemed to be at a tilt! Room cosy and clean but not much of a view. The staff were lovely and the food was delicious. If ever in Perth again would choose to stay here.
