Yes, the hotel is beautiful for all the reasons you can find in these reviews. But we too had the bad breakfast experience that one or two others have mentioned ... for example, would you believe "we have run out of croissants"? Run out of croissants, in a 5* Luxe Paris hotel??? Note the breakfast costs 52€ per person!! Surely they should bake some more, or send someone out to the local boulangerie. Or the 25 minute wait for ordinary tea or the unappetising uncleared tables all around the room? But the spa is divine, and the location good immediately adjacent to Iena metro station.
This is a beautiful historic hotel that has a warm, old world feeling to it. Besides the amazing staff and delicious restaurants, the best part of the Shangrila is a room with an Eiffel Tower view. The beauty of the tower lit up at night will bring you to tears. The spa is world class and so is the service. Don't forget to order the chef's hand made chocolates or a specialty cocktail. The very best!
We stayed as a party of 9 at this superb hotel,for a long weekend in early December, as a surprise 60th Birthday treat from my husband. We had expected the hotel to be something special, but we were totally in awe when we arrived, of the beautiful architecture, and attention to detail. Whilst there we had a fantastic meal in the Michelin starred restaurant, and took full advantage of the spa facilities. Our suites were all stunning, although each one was different from the others, which made it even more exciting to see what everyone had got. Some had amazing views of the Eiffel Tower, one had the biggest bed we had ever seen, and one had a mezzanine floor with the bed and bath upstairs! However, all this splendour would be totally wasted if you couldn't feel able to relax and enjoy yourself, and the greatest impression that the Shangri-La left us with was the friendliness and courtesy of the staff who were truly wonderful. I am trying hard to persuade my husband to take me there again next birthday!
My now fiancée and I spent 7 days at this wonderful establishment. We stayed in Duplex Eiffel Tower Suite, with a breath-taking view of the Eiffel Tower. The entire hotel knew about my surprise engagement planned in the Hotel's "Le Salon de Famille" and played along with all the hidden aspects of the engagement to keep it a surprise. The hotel itself was a treasure, extremely classic and refined. The details in the rooms and the rest of the hotel were exquisite and historic. We ate at all of the three restaurants within the hotel, which were beautiful, extremely pleasant staff and very tasty food. The hotel was also able to arrange sim cards for both my fiancée and I on arrival to ensure that we were able to use our mobile devices. The surprise engagement went flawlessly and the entire salon was transform beautifully for the event with the hotel being very helpful in all the ways that they can and beyond. This was a truly great and memorable experience and we cannot recommend this hotel more. It is something you can only experience for yourselves.
An architectural gem built in the late 1800s to serve as residence to a grand nephew of Napoleon Bonaparte, the hotel conveys a warm, home-like atmosphere without failing to maintain impeccable standards. Service is efficient and courteous, lounge / restaurants serve excellent food from east and west in beautiful decor, the pool is breathtaking and the spa instantly relaxing. While combining the elegance of Europe in the late 19th century and an authentic flavor of Asia, Shangrila-la Paris is not only gorgeous, but the most original 5-star hotel in Paris.
What a superb experience we had. We stayed here for 8 days and never wanted to leave the hotel. Its not supper huge but not small. A perfect size and even when super full you don't feel its busy. Very elegant in design and luxury. Everyone is always smiling and just want to help what ever the request is. Their Concierge is the best one i ever had pleasure to work with. They are yet to say no and they made things happen for us. With its getting a booking a trendy place or finding specific cream around paris. They would even buy the thing u need and just bill the room buck for buck. Thanks for all your help. We also had our wedding here and banquet team did a superb job and worked well with super stressful clients and our last minute changes. Food was soooooo divine no plate was ever returned empty. Even cups and plates were so elegant wither ur in the resturant or room service. Only saw it in a hand full of hotels world wide not even shangri la hong kong would do this. Thank u all from management to teams for making it a memorable experience. U truly r the best shangri la and the best hotel in paris. Merci
We stayed in a deluxe suite with mezzanine floor and separate lounge dining for a family of 5 with an adjoining room. Large french doors open to a private balcony over the front of the hotel. Wonderful staff as expected of Shangri La. It really is a spectacular hotel with corresponding sumptuous decor reflecting the classic building although not really to my taste, as I prefer the The Shard style. Would suit honeymooners and romantic couples. Great restaurant next door called Monsieur Bleu. Pricey breakfast even for Parisian standards.
We stayed at this beautiful boutique palace hotel 24-30 of December 2016. Our initial room was on a lower level with only 1 room on that floor, which we didn't like and finally were offered a top floor small suite for an additional 1000 Euro / night that had a beautiful view, but wasn't worth the premium. The facilities were small and not up to 5 star amenities . The breakfasts were mediocre/ expensive/ and had unreliable service . We had one good supervisor/ server who was French/Algerian, but when she was off the service was dismal. The location is a bit away from where we usually stay in the 8th district. The concierge service was excellent. The Chinese woman who checked us in was rude and unresponsive, yet a Polish front desk woman was excellent, again the service was sketchy which one doesn't expect at a Five Star Deluxe Palace Hotel. At the price point we paid we would have stayed at the Ritz, the Four Seasons, or Le Bristol which all are far superior properties/ service/ and restaurant options.
wow wow wow I was in complete awe, flabbergasted when I seen the hotel and surroundings. This was a complete treat. The hotel is extremely grande. The rooms spacious. The beds clean sheet, comfortable pillows. The bathroom was a good size and most importantly clean. Good size shower. Housekeeping on the ball. The service next to none. The staff know how to make this a 5 star luxury well done
Stayed for 2 nights over the holidays and booked a Premier Room. Look at what the website shows for a premier room -- a beautiful, spacious room w/ light, space, windows, a sitting area, outdoor area. Generally very nice. When I arrived I was shown to an ugly corner room with scuffed up decor, rips on the curtains, that smelled stale and had no air flow or ventilation. I complained to the lady who checked us in, who said she could do nothing, and then to the overnight duty manager who was truly a special case of bad customer service -- he showed us a room that was better in the same category but said it couldn't be assigned because the last guest had smoked in it (this was true, it smelled of smoke). He then took us to another room that was better which we could absolutely have -- for an upcharge of 200 euros per night over the 700+ euro rate already being paid. Note at this point it was 10pm, so I told him to have a real manager call in the morning and went to bed. The next day, no one reached out so I went to the front desk myself. The much more pleasant, helpful, day manager found a different room (again, same category -- apparently it would kill them to upgrade a golden circle member to an empty room in a higher category!), which was actually pleasant -- but would only be available at 5pm. We got in at 6pm. The room was very nice, and fitting of the category and website description - if this had been the original room, I would have been very happy (minus the generally rude and condescending "duty manager"). Unfortunately, we had an early morning flight and left at 6am -- which the hotel knew was the case the whole time. So of a 36 hour stay, 24 were in a miserable space, and 12 were in a good one. No apology or note was forthcoming, and no follow up occurred. Otherwise, the hotel is fine. Room service breakfast was good, and the concierge helpful but did not seem to have the level of connections at the FS George V or the Bristol. You can do better at either of those properties at the same price point.
