This hotel is clean and the bed comfortable. The hotel is near Champs Elysses so very convenient. All the staff were great but we saw Leon the most and he was especially helpful. He wanted us to love Paris as much as he does and we did!! He took great care with his considered recommendations.
This hotel was in an excellent location if you want to walk on the Champs Elysees to the Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel Tower. The hotel was clean and quaint. Stores and cafes all around. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Small criticism, is that the rooms are slightly dated and typical European in size (small). Also, the elevator is tiny (2 people capacity, without luggage) and there is no stand-up shower, only spray handle in bathtub, making it difficult to shower without getting water everywhere, but great if you prefer baths. Coffee/tea and small fridge was nice to have in the room.
I liked this hotel but essentially what one is paying for here is the location. If you have business in the Grand Palais - as I did - then this hotel is perfectly situated (Google maps says it’s either a six or seven minute walk, depending on the route, but I did in closer to four). It’s only one minutes walk to the Champs-Élysées and really only a fifteen or twenty minute amble to the Louvre. The room I had (45) was also, by Parisian standards, quite large and with an extra bed in an ante room. This makes it possible to save money and share, although with one, rather nice bathroom, I suppose ideal for another family member. I’ve been in some other very nice hotels in central Paris and some were so small there was hardly room for a chair in the room, let alone a table. My room here was not like that and was positively large compared to some. I rather liked the snazzy wallpaper and there was also a Nespresso machine in the room which was a nice touch. I had interactions with only two members of staff but they were both charming and attentive. All in all, very good. One word of warning here though. If you are on the larger side you won’t get into the lift. It’s the tiniest I’ve ever seen. I’m not even sure one person and a large bag would fit and, if they did, you certainly would not be able to turn around.
No other word can be said, only : Excellent and Thank you very much Mr. Lyon for your excellent Hospitality during our stay! The location just perfect, very closed to the famous Champ Elysee! Surroundings by nice cafe and bakery! Thank you Hotel Mathis and Mr. Lyon! GBU!
Hotel is quite cool with neatly decorated rooms, each one different. The red velvet restaurant could be over the top but they manage to pull it off as cool. Location is also great, as right by Champs Elysees and good dining, including the bistro on the corner a few houses from the hotel. In short a perfect Paris hotel whether for business or a romantic couple weekend
We chose this hotel based on the room size, as we do love to have space to relax at the end of the day. The room was spacious and had modern furniture. Once you open the door to the room you find yourself in a small corridor with a nice sized closet complete with safe box and full length mirror and the toilet located in a very small cubicle. At the end of the small hall you'll find the room. We had a top room, so there was lots of light coming through the window during the day. We also had a small balcony which is perfect for a nice glass of wine at the end of the day, sadly weather during our stay did not permit this. The bath and sink are located in a separate room with a small window, which provides nice light. It would have been nice, although not a dealbreaker for us considering the weather was cold but the building kept warm, to be able to control the room temperature, as it does have a thermostat but you are only able to turn on and off. I'm one of those persons who likes to turn on the fan for air circulation, but this option was not available, ended up opening the window a bit even in the cold. We had some trouble with the toilet plumbing, but since it was a Sunday, nothing could be done as the hotel is short staffed on Sundays, so we did have to wait one night. I would recommend getting a shower instead of a bathtub with shower, as the bath does not have a curtain but a glass panel instead, it looks beautiful, but is not very efficient avoiding water on the floor. After arriving, the lobby gave us mixed feelings, as it is a very small lobby decorated with retro leopard carpet and mirrors. We did not know what to expect of the room, but the room had its own modern vibe. The elevator IS small, (only fits 2) but it is an old fashioned elevator, kind of adds charm to the hotel, and we ended up mostly using the stairs anyway. The staff was very friendly and did give us tips and recommendations on the neighbourhood upon our arrival. The hotel had a bar, but it is not open anymore. It is a shame as it is decorated in a beautiful retro red velvet, and we also learned that it used to be a rich and famous hot spot back in the day. Keep in mind that although this is a tourist area, many restaurants in Paris have specific lunch and dinner schedules, many of the nearby restaurants do, and they won't serve lunch after 2 or 3 PM.
My family and I recently visited this charming hotel Dec 27-30th. The beds were very comfortable and the staff was pleasant and helpful. The hotel is situated in a perfect location that is close to the Avenue des Champs-Élysées and there are nice breakfast and dinner restaurants within a quick walking distance. I highly recommend!
We stayed in the junior suite for 3 nights and really loved it. The room is large, very clean and has great beds. The hotel is located near many touristic attractions but still in a very quiet street. The host is extremely friendly 24/7. Great breakfast and free soft drinks. Highly recommended!
We select the hotel based in the comments, I believe they're manipulated. The reception is awfull : its carpet, the size the smell (also in your room ) , it dosen't improve when you reach the tiny and risky elevator. Last but not least you have a 15€ per person breakfast menu in your room becasue they have no restaurant or cafeteria, my surprise whrn I was charged 87,02 € for 2 person 2 days breakfast. INCREDIBLE !
Main reason for booking Hotel Mathis was it's great location. Stuff at check in was really friendly, lobby small but cute, elevator extremely small, room in fourth floor pretty decent, nice size and clean. Everything was perfect till our "neighbours" in fifth floor arrived. Due to the wooden floor structure we heard their every single step :( Constructive comment ... we wouldn't mind some additional roll of toilet paper and to be able to adjust the room temperature by ourselves.
