Hotel des Mines is exceptionally well located, on the RER line B to Roissy CDG airport, and very central. The price is better than any other in the wider area, and it's perfectly acceptable at that. The rooms are small, as most are in Paris, but clean, and the bathroom was tiny but newly renovated. Although there aren't many facilities and services, there is breakfast served in the mornings (surchage of €10 at time of writing). The hotel is surprisingly quiet as there are double windows, even in the on-street rooms. Staff are friendly, and all encountered speak good English.
This hotel takes me back to how the majority of hotels used to be in Paris: small rooms, simple decor, not expensive and great value for the location. The Quartier Latin used to have many hotels like this. Now the Hotel des Mines is a one of a kind, almost. Clean, very courteous staff and perfect location make it the destination for the budget conscious. And it is in the perfect spot to explore Paris.
Overall a very pleasant stay. Staff was friendly. Rooms smallish but sufficient and clean. Could use slightly better WiFi and more power plugs. Even on the third floor one could here the underground passing under the building. Still all these things were rather minor. Paid about 80€ per night, which makes it a good deal for that area. Location is great, plenty of shops around and almost all important attractions can be reached walking. Breakfast is available, but not included and I didn't try it.
The location of this hotel is the best part, very close to rer stop Luxembourg, close to almost all major tourist attractions, so you can buy a zone 1&2 ticket only which is much cheaper than the other one. If you have less luggage then can take the rer directly to the airport. Rooms are small (but okay by Parisian standards). On the first floor in can hear the rer moving but it's not much of a bother. There's a supermarket just downstairs and if you get tired of bland food, an Indian restaurant is just across the street ( didn't eat there myself so can't comment). All in all, good stay
Hotel des Mines is a very good budget hotel that is close to the Luxembourg Gardens, the Latin Quarter, and to bus #82 that goes to the Eiffel Tower and #81 that goes to Montmartre. It is also perfectly located on the RER B train line that runs to and from both Charles de Gaulle Airport, Orly Airport, and Gare du Nord train station. There are very good restaurants close by: L'Estrapade, Le Timbre, La Bastide Odeon, Le Bistrot des Campagnes. The bed, pillows, and duvet are very comfortable. Hotel des Mines offers an excellent breakfast for 10 Euros. This was our 6th stay at Hotel des Mines. Go to their website for more information.
The hotel was in a very good location, not far from Notre Damme. The receptionists were extremely nice and friendly and they all speak English which helped us a lot. The room was clean and spacious with a very comfortable bed. It was very noisy outside but the windows were made of good quality and they cut all noise. We didn't have breakfast because it seemed to be very basic,we were invited to come down in the morning, have a look at it (buffet) and decide then which was very nice. Overall very good experience.
I had a great stay at Hotel des Mines! The staff was friendly and helpful, the location was amazing -- close to the metro and also very close to the square where many of the free walking tours of Paris leave from! Even though I was hours early for check in, I was offered a great room on the top floor right away and was also given space for storing my luggage securely on the day I checked out. The rooms are quite small, but they're well equipped and super clean. My bed was very comfy! My ensuite bathroom literally made my jaw drop. It was very clean, spacious, and modern -- obviously it had been updated recently. The only complaint I had was that the sound travels extremely easily through the walls in the hotel, so if you've got people in the next room over, you'll hear them quite clearly. Given the age of the building, I think that's understandable. I downloaded a white noise app on my phone to shut it out at night, but the hotel is very quiet during the days anyway. For the price you'll pay, I'd say this is a great value option!
Just 20 minutes from the Gard du Nord. Unpretentious room but perfectly adequate, very good value for the money. Very close the Jardins de Luxembourg and ideally situated for exploring the Left Bank with lots of bars and restaurants nearby
The hotel is at walking distance to Luxemburg Gardens and many other Paris turistic sites ,its close to the subway, so its really a very nice location ; but it has very small rooms , I felt like sleeping in a match box . The hotel staff was very nice and helpful always, so it was ok for a two days stay.
The hotel is in a great location. The room is small but adequate and clean. The bathroom is a good size but our shower has no screen. We haven't asked the staff about it. It's a little inconvenient, but for 2 nights we can make do. The biggest disappointment is the wifi. My partner needed to work while here and it is near impossible to do so from the hotel. There was no improvement in reception either
