First I entered the room I could smell the freshness of a new room. Then I learned that the hotel was restored after the new boss. Clean, super central, lovely place to stay. I highly recommend this hotel on your Paris trip!
Dirty dirty dirty and the bathroom was scary The room too small and dirty, the rug had holes...we complained about the situation and the owner or “manager” of the hotel was very politeness and rude We changed hotel when we saw the situation (2h after the check in without using anything) and he charged all the amount in my credit card. Please don’t go there
The bathroom is not clean and the price is overrated compared to the quality of the services. I will not come back and I suggest other travelers to find something else if the price is higher than 100e (I paid 220).
Overall, the hotel was clean, quiet, and located in a good area that is close to many metro lines. Nearby there is a street full of bars and restaurants close by, but it's hidden enough that you don't hear any noise when you're sleeping. There are several main metro lines within walking distance that will take you directly to all the sites (Montparnasse area). Breakfast is included if you wanted it, but not included in the price with the room. The breakfast is adequate, but there are a lot of bakeries and cafe's nearby that are better. Just a few things to note, however... One is that the bathrooms are quite small. It's a great hotel in Paris for a couple of nights, but not more. Also, they don't offer discount cards like they said they would, they offer you their "city ones", which is actually more expensive than the regular ones (my husband's family is from Paris, so I go often to visit). Just be aware of that and you should be fine.
I don't even know where to start. To be honest - the location is good (not great), BUT the rest is terrible. Worst of all might have been the cockroaches walking across the bread in the morning. I pointed this out to the receptionist, but the worst part of it was they didn't care. At all. I tried getting my money back from the breakfast, and asking several times. But to this date I have still not heard a word from them on this matter even with several tries to contact them. Then, the walls are so thin you hear everything from everyone. There was noise until very late in the nights, 2-3 AM. And with the thin walls (with paint coming off, black mold and other disgusting things) there was really unpleasant. I have read the other reviewers and they are very kind to this place. It is not a nice hotel. And there is no Air-condition. So the first night I spent being awake all night almost to 3AM - I had about 28 degrees in my room. And when complaining saying I would like to check out early because I needed to be in good condition for work, they did not let me. So I had to stay two more nights in this hell hole. There was no ironing board or iron and even though I asked (honestly) 3 times per day, they did not manage to get me one. So I spent three days tired, hungry, warm and with a wrinkly shirt. So to say the least: The service in this place is all but good. Actually this was one of my worst hotel experiences ever. I would really advice against this hotel and choose any of the other. They can't possible be worse. Good luck!
Aside from the fact that the room was inadequate for 3 adults, the guy in reception tried to say the card machine wasnt working and that we had to pay cash, when we refused the card machine miraculously fixed itself to take payment. When taking payment he overcharged us by 150 euros. The room had black mold on the ceiling and walls. When we said about the mold and also insisted that the difference be refunded he yelled at us. We booked through expedia and when they called to intervene, he claimed not to speak English. In the end we left the hotel and had the full price refunded by the credit card company. Avoid this place
The hotel is very well located in a quiet street in the central Montparnasse district. The staff are very friendly and the hotel is like a "hidden" and unexpected part of Paris. There are balconies along the front of the rooms with tables and chairs, meaning you can sit outside. A very friendly "family-like" atmosphere. I stay there several times a month.
I have stayed at Hotel Clairefontaine numerous times over the years, and every time it's great. I typically bring a class of students with me, and the staff are all so kind, friendly, and helpful that the students begin to think of them as their French friends. Service is efficient, communication is quick, breakfast is served buffet-style for easy access, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. I'll continue staying here whenever I visit Paris.
We arrived and waited about over an hour because we booked a room for 2 adults and 2 children and they said we did not. Made us book a separate room on 2 different floors! So, now I am paying double what I expected, not happy at all! The phone didn't work so we couldn't call each other and the man had excuses that he was busy to fix. He came in to our room tried and then said sorry I have to go to work and can not fix right now. Well he never tried again! so we gave up asking! Finally, they put us at least on the same floor after a few nights into our stay. The hotel owners and staff smoke all day and the stench goes straight into your room, it's awful!!! Don't stay here if you want a pleasant place!!! Aside the rooms are super small and not comfortable at all...
I chose this hotel because it was close to the Paris Catacombs. Just a 10 minute walk away so it was very convenient. Friendly staff. They did their best with the English they speak and were helpful. The bed was firm but comfortable. The pillows were great. The room was clean but the bathroom unfortunately smelled like urine. Perhaps the smell comes from the pipes? There wasn't much room to put our suitcases so I had to put mine partially in front of the toilet door. The fan in the bathroom wasn't effective so our room was always humid. The mirrors in the bathroom are about to fall off. The owners smoked outside our room and made our room smell like cigarettes. Other than that, the room was fine. We only stayed for two nights so it was ok.
