Gem on Saint-Germain

Our first visit to Paris, for our 30th anniversary, was spectacular due in part to the wonderful 5 night stay we enjoyed at Hotel Au Manoir Saint-Germain. We had a charming room in a perfect location close to transportation, cafes, and major attractions. The gentleman at the front desk allowed us to check in early, a gesture we appreciated beyond measure after a long journey.

We had a wonderful stay. Our room window was facing St. Germaine St., right across the iconic cafe, Cafe de Flore and LV boutique ( under renovation). The room is quite, classic but up to date with a beautiful restroom. The subway station is near the hotel too. Hotel has it’s own contracted taxi to get you to the airport.

We stayed here with one child as they offered a couch bed with our queen. The hotel is quite old and dated, room is quite narrow and the shower was a bit wonky but worked with hot water. In saying that, it is in a very convenient location surrounded by some of the biggest luxury brands in the world. Also some very nice restaurants nearby including a Michelin star rated Armani one right next door. It’s Not too long of a walk to most tourist hot spots either. We felt very safe walking around, even later at night. Had zero problems at all! The breakfast is very average and I’d recommend shooting across the street to one of the cafes instead. The staff is friendly and accommodated most requests.Overall, Not the best hotel I’ve stayed in St Germain, but not too bad either. If you’re looking for a basic spot to sleep and explore then it gets the job done. No frills. 3/5 stars.

They could improve their in room coffee maker. Instant is pretty terrible. Otherwise, a very enjoyable stay. Front desk was always pleasant and helpful. Room service came late, which I liked because I work in my hotel room. Very nice lounge. One more small suggestion/complaint. You have to press down on the hair dryer the whole time you use it for it to work. I suppose they think this is good for the climate, but it’s a silly annoyance.

A small traditional hotel which has been updated to good standard. Adequate rather than large rooms but stylishly well decorated. Single bathroom/toilet, again of good standard and size, albeit the loo did not flush properly. Very comfortable bed and pillows, and efficient a/c on a very hot night. Location of the hotel is unbeatable, in the middle of St Germain des Pres. Double glazing kept out the traffic noise effectively. We would stay again.

Our family had a charming stay at Au Manoir. The staff was so friendly and very helpful. They have redecorated since the photos on this site and the ground floor is moody and gorgeous. There is a lovely sitting room for lounging. Our room was ready when we arrived 2 hours before check-in time and the elevator was in working order. Our triple room was larger than expected for a boutique style city building— main bed was a huge “king” size. Trundle was pulled out and raised onto legs. It stayed set up next to the main bed the whole stay and was my teen’s favorite place. We all slept soundly. Plenty of room to move around. No dresser in this room, however. There was not a city view, but I prefer a room off the Main Street because it’s quieter. I go outside for a view. There were some quirks as you find with older city buildings— the circuit tripped a couple of times but the staff is readily available and handled it quickly. Footsteps can occasionally be heard from above. If you are accustomed to NYC or other large cities, these things are no problem. The room could have used some detailed dusting, but was otherwise in fine condition. The location in the 6ème was perfect for us. We walked most places— Notre Dame, Louvre, Luxembourg Gardens, and even back from the Champs Élysée. The Monoprix around the corner provided loads of convenience.

Great location and very near metro stations. Room was clean, with comfortable beds. Every now and then the reception area would surprise us with some free croissants and New York Times newspaper. I would definitely book at this hotel again when I'm in the area.
