Stayed here for a night on my way to Bordeaux as it is close to Montparnassee Railway Station. Simple, clean , efficient check in . Rooms are small and bathroom very modern and clean. Good continental breakfast
It a small hotel, clean, little rooms on the inside but u have what u need.. the location is super good u have small restaurants around the area and a metro station to go anywhere.. on the weekends there is an art market about a block from it.. you also have a mall 2 blocks away.. I say if ur not looking for a fancy place, it’s a good place to stay..
Situated in Montparnasse between the Boulevard and Edgar Quinet, this is a small, well run hotel with recently refurbished rooms. Our room was on the sixth floor with a balcony overlooking the relatively quiet street. Good air-con, strong wifi, comfortable bed with quality linen. Bathroom separate from toilet, which is a plus. Would happily stay there again as Montparnasse is one of the most interesting parts of Paris, and one of the most historical and literary. It has a famous collection of high-end bars and restaurants (which Hemingway couldn't have afforded to eat at) and a seemingly limitless number of creperies which he could have. Good metro and bus links, many decent bars and cafes.
Pros: ----------- The Breakfast was not luxurious but had all the needed stuff. The price was very good The bed was comfortable Rooms are equipped with a mini bar so I could store my water for cooling The staff was excellent The rooms even on the street side were not noisy Super Location, near Garre Montparnasse in a lively neighbourhood. Lots of restaurants, cafes, shops, supermarket right across the street. Cons: ----------- WiFi coverage is excellent BUT WiFi speed is not good (measured at less than 0,5 Mbps). The only thing that would make the Breakfast complete would be some boiled eggs. I think some refurbishment has been in progress because I noticed the room light was covered with plastic wgrapping (maybe forgotten during painting) Also heating seemed not to be working (not that the room was very cold) but the climatization controls seemed to have no effect.
Arrived late on a wet Saturday night , guy on front desk was very helpful, allowing me to place bicycle in luggage room and even made me a pot of tea - Many thanks ( I just do not understand why the simplest B&B in Britain has a full set, kettle , tea/ coffee and cups , but not in Europe - they need to modernise ) Room was small but tidy and quiet , and bed comfortable , shower a tight squeeze but clean and functional Dining area was spacious and well set , breakfast more than adequate , nice juice , decent coffee for France. Lift not an issue as fit and healthy people can use the stairs !! ( up to 3rd floor certainly )
The problem with the hotel is that is on works and is not complete finished, or our room was not finished yet. Some lights without pumps, air condition doesn't work (heat radiator works but not enoguht for the room). Breakfast is not cheap but they offers several option. There are two metro station close to the hotel and a lot of restaurants in the streets around.
Stayed here for a long weekend with my girlfriend and we were informed that our room was on 4th floor so we had to take their noisy, rattly and quite discerning elevator. Taking the stairs were not much better with renovation taking place on the upper floors. Room was ok, good size but very old, beds were hard but manageable. Extractor fan in bathroom did not work for the whole weekend, and when i complained about it repeatedly. They said nothing can be done as engineer cannot come on weekend. We had to suffer with steamy and condensed room after every shower - terrible service and value of customers. The safe had a weird key that did not seem very safe and there was a risk of losing it, so we thoguht best to leave it with reception with our room key. Although one evening came back and the guy gave us the room key without safe key! Thinking we may have left it in room, I had to check and then realised I had given it to the reception. I went back and the guy had a nervous look around before sheepishly handing me the safe key! Ridiculous and unprofessional - gave us a fright as our passports/money was in there! We had the cleaners come into our room one morning around 8am without knocking, no respect of guest privacy! And fire alarm went off another morning and no notice was given that this would happen and no phone call (although we were both called liars that our room was called 3 times). There was no guidance on how to use phone in room, apparently all info on the tv which we were not told until last day. Staff were useless and did not guide us very well, poor information if you want to know about Paris and the sights. On top of that, the manager Cecile was very rude calling us at checkout time and asking us if we want to stay another night as if we don't come down in the next 10 mins our card will be charged! Utterly disgusting and rude way to treat your guests. Breakfast was average, continental and waitress there was nice as a saving grace. Do not stay here if you want to have a nice time in Paris and for the price it is a waste of money! The area however, is amazing - really buzzing with great restaurants and cafes. HOTEL APOLLINAIRE....more like HOTEL APPAULLING (in every way!)
The worst hotel ever!! The rudest manager ever I’ve met! The rooms are extremely old and small. The elevator feels like it will ruin while ur inside . the stairs leading you to the rooms are old, dirty and make a bad noise. The staff can not guide you at all. No idea of anything in Paris ... The ventilation of our room from the toilet and bathroom didn’t work and we ask for someone to repair it and they said no one is working in the weekend time. When you book an hotel you expect to be someone to help you with all the room issues, but this hotel doesn’t have anything. In our last day at 8.00 am the cleaner come inside our room without knocking on the door while we were sleeping, awful. They don’t respect the privacy. At 8.30 am they run the fire alarm without announcing and last for 15 minutes. HORRIBLE, never again in this hotel!!! My boyfriend and I we travel all the time and we never have this terrible experience! The manager she is extremely rude! She called before our check up at 11.50 pm and ask extremely rude and disrespectful if we gonna pay for another night, because if we staying more than 12.15 pm the card with be charged automatically. Please avoid this hotel if you would like a nice holiday!
Wonderful staff, so friendly and helpful. Hotel location is perfect seconds away from the metro, room is cleaned every day, breakfast is included and delicious. It was like a home away from home, highly recommended for short or long stays. Will come back !
We spent 3 nights in lively Montparnasse in the 14a. The greeting at he desk was warm and genuine and the room very very clean. It's a tiny room but it's Paris and if you want a lot of space be prepared to spent hundreds and hundreds of euros. The breakfast (9€) was fairly good, the coffee excellent. It's a improved continental breakfast. If you have dairy issues you're going to be hungry. The location is one of the best with easy access to 3 Metro stations, there are restaurants and shopping galore. Enjoy your stay - we really did.
