Staff in the hotel are really nice, the bedroom was tidy and of an average size. However, the lift was very small to fit 2 people and it is worst when you carry lugage. On average it was a good room for the price.
Lovely modern size room, great size. Beautiful interior in room and outside of room, and lovely exterior. Convenient location for metro. All round very good. I would rate this 5 stars, however it did not come with items that it said in my room confirmation. I booked a superior room which is a larger room which comes with a bathrobe and a welcome gift (I booked very early in advance, hence why I believe I got this as a special offer). I thought this was a lovely touch as I was visiting for my honeymoon, but I never got the bathrobe and welcome gift and still paid the same rate. I did not feel the need to mention as this should have been in the room when we arrived, and getting the items later would defeat the point, so I chose to live without them as they weren't there in the first place. However, the hotel was lovely, and also very clean. We had a cleaner clean our room every day and we stayed from Thursday to Monday. I will definitely be using the Best Western Saint Martin Bastille again if I choose to come to back to Paris, it's just a small shame that there was no welcome gift and bathrobe/bathrobes.
My wife and I traveled through Europe this past July 2017. We stayed at the Best Western Saint Martin Bastille from July 8-July 12. There were several small issues with the hotel, but I will only speak about the one that matters most. When we arrived, the host at the front desk was kind and explained everything to us (I don't recall his name). After we finished checking in, he reminded us to visit the lower floor for breakfast in the morning. So we did. I had a piece of toast, some egg, and a coffee. My wife didn't have much more than that as well. The following day, we had the same. On the third day, I was speaking with "Sam" at the front desk and somehow, I don't exactly recall how, the matter of breakfast came up. I do remember that I had mentioned that the breakfast room on the lower floor was very nice. During this conversation, I learned that breakfast was not included with our room. No sooner than the moment that I began to say that I thought that there must have been some misunderstanding, Sam literally began a verbal assault on me about how it is in the contract and that the contract is binding. He said this over and over again. Frankly, I had no idea what he was talking about. I simply wanted to try to understand why the breakfast was not included. Sam was very agitated, loud, and continued on his tirade about how the contract was binding. All the while, not giving me a chance to speak. I was appalled. I was so appalled at his behaviour that I had to walk away and went up to our room and explained what had just transpired to my wife. We decided that if breakfast wasn't included, then we would simply pay for it being that there must have been a misunderstanding. End of story. When we came back down later that day, there was another gentlemen sitting at the front desk with Sam. I approached this gentleman and began to ask him about restaurants in the area. At this same moment, Sam began to talk over the gentleman and brought up the contract issue again. I couldn't believe it. As a result, I looked at Sam and asked him not to speak to me. I finished my conversation with the other gentleman and began to leave the hotel when Sam blurted out loud, "Have a bad day!" Let me just say this...my wife and I are frequent travellers. Never, in all our travels, has anyone in the hospitality industry purposefully and intentionally done such a thing. Sam does not belong in the hospitality industry. And that a hotel that would employ such a person is not worthy of anyone's patronage. As far as I am concerned, Best Western should give us our money back for the breakfast and provide us with an apology.
Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights recently. Room was clean which is what we primarily cared about. Room was small and so was the shower. My wife and I are average size people and could barely move around within the shower, but we made it work. Room has air conditioning and a window to a weird little area that was painted with a mural. For a place to sleep and shower, the room and hotel served it's purpose without digging a huge hole in our wallets. We used the extra cash to enjoy the city. Hotel staff was very friendly and tried their best to speak English. It's located in a good area to find places to eat/go out for drinks (except on Sundays when a lot of places seem to be closed for dinner/drinks). Would recommend depending on what you need.
A couple of years ago, I stayed at a hostel in the same area. I thought, this time I'll pay a little more for a better place in the same area. There in lies my mistake. The hostel had a huge private bathroom and bigger rooms. This place really isn't worth the money. It's not a Best Western. It's just an old crappy hotel with a fresh coat of paint. The bathroom had a slight fecal smell like they needed to replace the wax ring at the toilet base. The staff was ok. The area is less touristy than most places. It's near the metro, restaurants, markets and bakeries. There's a laundromat nearby. It's a half hour walk to Gare de Lyon (depending on how much luggage you have). We're off to Barcelona now after a half hour walk.
A nice boutique hotel!! Room was small but nice. They have a nice restaurant downstairs but didn't see anyone dining there. Very close to metro and bus station. City centre is close - hardly 5-7 stops for most places. Supermarket and cafes nearby. However, the neighbourhood is not much lively. My suggestion is leave on the morning and come back late as not much to do for tourists around the hotel.
Hotel was clean and comfortable and the front desk very friendly. Bit further out than we usually stay but the walking helped burn off the gorgeous rich French food! The area is quite diverse with lovely restaurants and cafes juxtapositioned (is that a word) with the winos but I guess that is city living. Good value for the room size.
We stayed for two nights last weekend. Our room was small but clean, the shower was very small, fine for myself and partner but larger people would struggle. We didn't have breakfast, the room was cleaned on our first day. The fruit of house staff were lovely very helpful throughout our stay. Providing thugs like an iron on request, printing boarding passes and keeping our luggage after checkout for us. The location is great, easy to navigate to and from the airport on public transport and just a short walk from the metro station. lots to do in the area in terms of cafes and restaurants. very happy would stay again.
The hotel reception were very friendly. Rooms were very clean & lovely decor. Bathroom was a good size. There was a variety for Breakfast, it was served in the basement which was felt like a cellar with a nice atmosphere. All the staff we met were friendly & helpful. Good location with many bars & restaurants. Not too far from the main attraction. Would come to this hotel again.
Long story short, my room smelled like mildew (making me wonder about water damage) and the bathroom had a shower leak that management refused to fix. This place is a cheap pension with a new paint job, not up to the standards of even the most basic Best Western in the US.
