wonderful hotel, decorated in great style beautiful fabrics(toile de jouy) in each room . nice bathrooms , done with lots of taste , in each detail. Charming people at reception : Excellent breakfast . the view is amazing on the Pantheon , there are also balconies with a small table and two chairs to admire the spectacular view . It worth the price
We booked a Jr. Suite for 3 nights, and though they didn't mention it at the time we checked in, they upgraded us to the "Jr. Suite Romantic" (room 60). Top Floor, large balcony with three bistro tables and chairs, with a great view of the Pantheon across the street and Sacre-Coeur in the distance. Unfortunately, it was a little cool and rainy when we were there, so we didn't get much use out of the balcony. The room included a full bathroom with tub & shower, a sitting room with a loveseat, coffee table and a desk, a closet with lots of shelves (which makes up for the lack of a dresser), a small safe, a King sized bed, tv, mini fridge (which has several beverages in it for an extra charge, but there is some room for you to stick some of your own stuff in there), free wifi. There was no Nespresso machine in our room as was advertised on their website. Everything was very clean, and the staff was very friendly. There is a bus stop about 100 yards from the hotel that will take you towards D'Orsay and the Louvre, or transfer and get anywhere. A little longer walk (5 minutes) to Luxembourg station to catch a metro train. Lots of cafes, bakeries and markets within a short walk.
Unfortunately we don't have nice things to say about this hotel. Trying to have any kind of correspondence with this hotel isn't made easy. Tried to change our itinerary, but it took over 9 days to get a response from the hotel through expedia, we also tried to email ourselves, but the email just kept bouncing back as undeliverable. Then we called and we were told the manager is away and we would have to call back in a few days. Since their email doesnt work and they are so nonchalant about giving answers one would think that they would be a bit more helpful. This was an email they have listed on their own said site. Most hotels will be somewhat accommodating, but this one is not. Was willing to pay any kind of difference to change our dates as something unavoidable came up. I understand when booking things on the web, it states no changes etc. But most of the time within reason, hotels being that they are in the hospitality business will realize this and be more agreeable. We ended up going to Paris and we stayed somewhere else out of principle because of the negative and long awaited response from this hotel. It was too bad, we usually do repeated stays at places as it just makes it easier if we like a hotel in a particular city. Being somewhat flexible to a customers need within reason is important and this one doesn't seem to care, I don't like to write bad reviews. If I have a bad experience I usually keep to myself, but this one just didn't sit right with either one of us. As an avid traveler and someone that people ask for advice from on where to stay in different places through-out the world, I will most def no recommend this hotel.
I travel to Paris several times each year and have come to view the Hotel des Grands Hommes as my "Home Away from Home" in Paris. It's a lovely, small hotel, decorated in Empire style so it feels very "French", yet the bathrooms and amenities are quite modern. I've stayed in many different rooms and each one has been comfortable, especially the beds! I always feel welcomed by the staff when I walk through the front door and they will be very helpful throughout your stay, especially Camille! You can't beat the location for convenience being located near the RER-B for ease of access to the airport, within a short walk of the 10, 7 and 4 subway lines, and an easy stroll to the Luxembourg Gardens, Notre Dame, the Musee d'Orsay and the Louvre. Give it a try on your next visit!
Apart from same breakfast every day, overall a nice place to stay. Efficiently run, quiet part of Paris. Catch bus or Metro to save taxi fares. Helpful when leaving extended room for one and a half hours to help us out.
My daughter and I had a wonderful stay here for 5 nights. Our room was elegant and comfortable, with a charming balcony overlooking the Place du Pantheon. The reception staff were polite, helpful and very kind. They gave us great recommendations on nearby restaurants, and they easily printed all of our online tickets to the museums when asked. Yvan was especially solicitous, as was the woman who served us breakfast everyday. We appreciated the location of the hotel, the neighborhood and proximity to the metro, and we look forward to staying here again.
We loved our stay at the Hotel des Grand Hommes. It’s not the cheapest hotel you can find, but you definitely get good value for what you pay. It’s a really charming building with cutely decorated rooms, each of which has all the amenities you could need. Good shower, comfy bed, mini bar etc. Plus there’s a little bar in the lobby where you can have a glass of wine or two. The rooms were on the small side by Australian or American standards, but for Europe (and especially Paris) they were very reasonable. There was only one small elevator, but if you’ve ever stayed in a little boutique hotel in Paris you’ll know that having an elevator at all is pretty great. And there are only six floors, so it’s not the end of the world if the lift is busy and you have to use the stairs. The hotel was very well located, right across the road from the Pantheon and a five minute walk from the heart of the Latin Quarter. It was about 10 minutes from the closest Metro station, though there were a few different stations you could easily access. The staff were excellent also, and have to give a special nod to Camille, who works at the front desk. She was kind, courteous and always helpful. We would definitely return to the HGH the next time we’re in Paris.
A pretty good hotel, nice location, nice decoration. French windows open on a view of the Pantheon which is great. All the normal facilities. Smallish room but ok for a couple of nights. Breakfast can be brought to room which I recommend. The basic breakfast doesn't include eggs which I haven't really seen anywhere else (and I travel a lot) so found that a bit mean. The staff were good on the whole, one might benefit from a bit of training.
Stayed here for 8 nights my first visit and it was home away from home. Before I even got to the hotel Amin helped me to arrange a car from the airport to the hotel for me. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are charming and the bathrooms are nice with great water pressure. The staff is very warm and accommodating and speak English much better than I speak French. Yvan in particular was very helpful always. The location is great and the neighborhood both safe and quiet. After traveling for a week I came back to stay for another 3 nights and was warmly welcomed back. I really hope to come back to Paris and if I do I will definitely be staying here again. My only wish is that there were coffee makers available in the rooms.
This is our new go-to hotel in Paris. Located in a nice neighbourhood, it is across from the Pantheon, a ten minute walk to Notre Dame, and ten minutes to the Lux Gardens in the other direction. We slept very well in our cozy, but well appointed inner courtyard room with an air con that worked well too. The staff were very helpful during our stay. A special thank you to Yvan who phoned a few shops and successfully helped me locate a specific item on a Sunday when most stores were closed. We hope to return.
