Metro Hotel Panama3.5 out of 5.0

I spent 5 days at this hotel. The room was large but had no windows quite claustrophobic, the bathroom showed that some improvements have been made like rain shower and modern toilet. The included breakfast is less than basic, very few options, toast and some processed cheese slices, oatmeal, coffee, tea, orange juice. You get what you pay for, but the star of the hotel is certainly its staff, always ready to help in any way they can (the night receptionist even fixed me a cheese sandwich the day I left at 5 am for a tour) The location is ok, plenty of cheap places to eat,2 bocks from the metro.
The hotel is only a three floor building. Some of the rooms are without window. Even the rooms with window are very groomy and dark. Location is good and central. The breakfast is very poor. The only good thing about the hotel was the gentelman at the reception that spoke perfectly english and tried his best to help us to find a better room.
We booked a room with two double beds and the begs are very large and comfortable, The room is very large with a large bathroom. We are two adults and two young kids and the room is a good size for us. The wifi is also fantastic and much faster than other places we have stayed. The location is good, near to lots of restaurants and other hotels.
This is a centrally located Hotel for bars an d Restaraunts within a two minute walk . Stayed at this Hotel for seven nights. Found the rooms large and spacious but not all the rooms are the same size . Clean and comfortable beds , sheets changed daily . The staff are very helpful and friendly , but be prepared to handle your own luggage as no porter, Don’t look forward to the free breakfasts ,only 6 tables and 3 chairs per table. Only a two slice toaster ,polystyrene plates and cups, only 2 staff seen looked like the odd job man and the other a cleaner, there were more people standing eating and drinking than sitting. Only looked in the first morning but didn’t stay ,went out and payed for breakfast . There is a good place to eat at the top of the road called Manolos where you can get good food at reasonable prices . The breakfasts provided free by the Hotel were a disgrace . Other things listed on the website stated all rooms were fitted out with mini bar coffee maker and hairdryer . We couldn’t even borrow a hairdryer that worked. If in Panama again I would chose another Hotel.
When I first stayed here it was pricey for what it offered. It seems to have recently dropped into a more acceptable range. Not much to say about this compact hotel other than I felt a bit cramped and the area doesnt offer much.
I like the hotel, the owners are friendly and open to talk. The breakfast is good but you can't repeat eggs, so, I stayed hungry sometimes. Very clean and well located It's a good option for a quick trip
We flew in on Air Panama, and chose this spot because of it's proximity to the little airport, as well as it's price. The check in was quick and easy, with bilingual staff. Our room had no towels in it, but the front desk fixed that quickly. The decor shows signs of having been recently upgraded, though the workmanship isn't necessarily incredible. The bathroom was a little tight, but the shower worked fine, and everything was in order. The beds were comfortable and made well. The air-conditioning had a bit of difficulty keeping the room at the temperature we hoped for. The complimentary breakfast was simple, and a little awkward as the breakfast staff didn't speak english, and we didn't speak and spanish. BUT the food was fine. I would use this hotel again, as it's quality to budget ratio fits together.
We stayed for 5 nights in a room with two double beds. Hotel is in a good location close to cheap eats and the metro. Room was larger than expected. One of the beds in our room needs replacing as the mattress and base sinks to the floor but we just swapped beds to the other one. Bathroom clean and good shower. Breakfast was basic but filled you up.
Centrally located and a bit tucked away on a minor road. The staff are friendly and helpful, but there's a but I'll come to shortly. The room was clean, except for the pillows which I'll also get to shortly. The only window was in the bathroom, which was covered with damage blinds and gave views only of the back of another building. Fixtures were in good condition, with only the bathroom counter showing some superficial damage from wear and tear. I enjoyed the included breakfast, which is your choice of several options put out for you, but you have to get there early. Though they state that breakfast is served until 10 if you get there by 9:45 or so there won't be much left. Now the "but": there were no towels in the room and 3 out of 4 pillows smelled a bit funky. The 4th was perfectly fine. Both issues were reported to the front desk the next morning (I only need one pillow and I was travelling with my own towels anyway). The front desk indicated that she would let housekeeping know and I left to see the city. On my return that evening I discovered that housekeeping had not been to the room at all. As I was leaving the next morning and I was tired I let it go and didn't raise the issue again.
This hotel looks bright on the pictures, but it's not. Except the lobby an the common area, the building and especially the rooms are not well maintained. I got a room with torn curtains! Lot of dust and hairs in the furniture drawers! Even the linen in my bed, the first night were covered with little hairs, disgusting! So I slept over the blanket! However a decent breakfast is included in the price, which is very good. Despite everything, the staff is really nice many thanks to the ladies working in the breakfast area. And many thanks to Eleazar at reception desk who is doing a very good job!
