Metro Hotel Panama3.5 out of 5.0

Centrally located and a bit tucked away on a minor road. The staff are friendly and helpful, but there's a but I'll come to shortly. The room was clean, except for the pillows which I'll also get to shortly. The only window was in the bathroom, which was covered with damage blinds and gave views only of the back of another building. Fixtures were in good condition, with only the bathroom counter showing some superficial damage from wear and tear. I enjoyed the included breakfast, which is your choice of several options put out for you, but you have to get there early. Though they state that breakfast is served until 10 if you get there by 9:45 or so there won't be much left. Now the "but": there were no towels in the room and 3 out of 4 pillows smelled a bit funky. The 4th was perfectly fine. Both issues were reported to the front desk the next morning (I only need one pillow and I was travelling with my own towels anyway). The front desk indicated that she would let housekeeping know and I left to see the city. On my return that evening I discovered that housekeeping had not been to the room at all. As I was leaving the next morning and I was tired I let it go and didn't raise the issue again.
This hotel looks bright on the pictures, but it's not. Except the lobby an the common area, the building and especially the rooms are not well maintained. I got a room with torn curtains! Lot of dust and hairs in the furniture drawers! Even the linen in my bed, the first night were covered with little hairs, disgusting! So I slept over the blanket! However a decent breakfast is included in the price, which is very good. Despite everything, the staff is really nice many thanks to the ladies working in the breakfast area. And many thanks to Eleazar at reception desk who is doing a very good job!
Clean, not too expensive and GREAT staff! Breakfast is more than basic: Eggs and Pancakes are shuffeling every day. Todo bien! Good Location for everthing. 35min walk to Casco Viejo or some minutes via Metro. Best greets to Eleazar and all the best guys! Eric
This hotel will not hit the heights but it is good value and clean, perfect for a short stay as you pass through Panama City. Others noted cold showers but I didn't have that problem. Given the temperatures, a cool shower was pleasant in any case. The breakfasts are functional at best. A practical choice.
If you can ignore the finer points of the rooms appointments - dim rooms, dreadful lighting - and the somewhat ambivalent attitude of the staff, this is a solid value choice. The hotel is superbly located in downtown Panama City very close to city's top Indian restaurant (xxxx) and numerous Asian options if the appeal of Central American cuisine has... paled.. However this downtown location does have a few disadvantages if you are out a little later in the evening as the street the hotel is located on seems to also cater to a few desecrate ladies of the evening...
I stayed here twice in a week and can say it was worth the money. Pretty good value for it. Breakfast always good. Service was excellent. I arranged tje transfer through them and it was quite comfortable and on time the 4 times I arranged it. I will be back here.
My trip started off a bit rocky, as I had prearranged transportation from the airport with the hotel. I was expecting someone to be there waiting for me. Instead I ended up waiting an extra 15 - 20 min for the driver when I could have easily just jumped in a cab that was already at the airport for the same price, minus the wait...that was a little frustrating but not the end of the world. I really liked the location of this hotel. It's within walking distance to lots of stores and restaurants and it was very easy to get around using Uber. I don't think any of the rides cost me more than $5. I visited the Canal, Metropolitan Park, Albrook Mall, etc. The staff at the front desk and the gentleman at the tour desk were all pleasant although their English is a bit limited (which was not a problem for me, just thought I'd mention it in case it is for others). The room was ok for a few days, but I wouldn't want to spend more time there. Three nights was pushing it for me. The pros: It was spacious and offered a big closet for storage, as well as cable TV, a mini fridge and A/C. The cons: I was given a room with two beds and both of the beds had white sheets with stains on them. This is the one thing I am pretty picky about....clean and comfortable bedding! While the bedding may have been washed, the stains did not make it feel clean and comfortable. I didn't want my skin touching the sheets. Also, the shower floor seemed kinda icky. The complimentary breakfast was also a bit disappointing. I didn't even bother to wake up for it after the first morning. With a few minor fixes, this place could be really decent.
This hotel is situated in close proximity of many cafes, mini marts and restaurants.its an ideal location. Rooms are fairly spacious. Beside some dust here and there the hotel is worth it if you are on a budget. The staff was very helpful as well as the owner Ms Fatima who went out of her way to help me.
A clean and friendly hotel in the heart of town. The room was a good size with 2 queen beds and a table but the closet had one bent hanger only. There was a safe. No frills though apart from wifi. There was a coffee filter maker but no cups or coffee, not even a glass in the bathroom The bathroom was good with a fine shower, hot water and a good plug less sink. Breakfast was meagre. Cornflakes, bits of pineapple, unappetising bread, a thin gruel. Overall you get what you pay for. Good for 2 nights
Location is very good. Many areas of Panama is accessible by Uber, under USD 7. Some of the workers speak English but not fluent. Room was good, A/C was good too. Breakfast was ok. They can help you book tour and take care of luggage too.
