The hotel seems to be be a little bit oldish. The room was spacious but the furniture was old fashioned. Unfortunately I couldn't open the window so there was no fresh air. The aircon was very noisy but did a good job as it was very hot during my stay. The bed was fantastic, big and very comfortable. They offer a variety of pillows, so everyone can find the one he likes best. Also the service and the meals were very good. The staff was always attentive.
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in May. When I booked I asked for a canal view room. We got the top floor in the central part of the building. Amazing views of this ships and containers passing through, my husband could of sat here all the time watching.we arrived late the guy on reception was kind and pleasant. We enjoyed our stay. Perfect location for visiting the locks. I arranged a partial transit of the locks which was amazing. There is a nice pool to relax at the end of the day, in the evening we ate at the Spanish restaurant virtually next door. Night recommend this hotel whilst visiting the locks.
This hotel is in a safe area , is very clean and the beds are so comfy . They have a bakery a restaurant and a small bar area . All the waiters are great, Kevin ,Javier , Charlie , Kenneth ,Marlou at the front desk .How ever if you don't care to walk next door you can fine a nice sports bar with decent food .. The same area have a small market , pharmacy and some fast food restaurants . They have a small bus that can take you to the local mall and also back to the airport driving by Robert . Taxi service is always available for a good price . I will stay here again and again ..
The hotel was safe, had all the amenities around like grocery store and bakery right next door. It's walking distance from the Colon shopping Freezone area. Breakfast was good. The bar was quiet. Great hotel for the price. Attached is the view of the port from my room
The hotel is in a quiet and a good location, even though the hotel have is own kitchen and restaurant there is another restaurant near the hotel and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are good, I think that the TV could be bigger due to the size of the room, the bathroom is clean but the shower doesn't have enough light. In the other side I don't if it was just in the floor level of my room, but early in the morning the people who do the housekeeping were smacking every single door of a room that they open, also since the room was near the elevator, the door doesn't have like a very good insulating material, so everyone who pass we can hear it from the room, so our night was not as pleasant as I which. If you are planning to stay here pick rooms that are not near the elevators. The pool is very small, so if you are planning to go with kids and enjoy sometime in the hotel, take this in consideration.
Hotel is on the old US military base. It is close to the Canal and Mira Flores locks. Friendly and helpful staff with easy English capability. Clean and comfortable rooms with good beds Good service with bar, pool and resraurant
I spent a week at the Holiday Inn Panama Canal. It was relaxing and fun. the rooms are quite clean and functional. breakfast and Lunch was exquisite. I did have dinner because I went out gallivanting. The staff are quit nice and friendly even though there was a language barrier. I am totally English. But the experience of the Holiday Inn in Panama City - Panama Canal was awesome. Take a trip and see for your self.
ACCOMODATIONS were nice and comfy. Pool was beautiful. Only complaint was I booked 8 months in advance and requested a Canal room with 2 beds for 4 people. When I arrived they had me in a 1 bed poolview room. They then demanded money for the extra guests despite my prepayment of room, and confirming with the hotel twice to confirm my accomodations request.Holiday inn was quick to resolve the issue once I returned home, but what a hassle and headache
The City of Knowledge, formerly Fort Clayton, was where I lived and worked while serving in the military from 78-80. Being able to stay at a Holiday Inn on the same location was important to me. Language was an issue with front desk staff. They were all friendly but a lot of information was lost in translation. Saying they understand and will do things, is not the same as actually doing them. It was frustrating to say the least. There are a lot of students in the area, many of which hang out in the lobby and use the hotel's internet. They use it to Skype their families and professors and to stream movies. This resulted in internet speed that was unsatifsfactorily slow.
We spent a week at the Holiday Inn. Booked it for the canal view but when got there it was a tree view with minimal canal view though we paid extra for the view. Did have a good view each day from the dining room at breakfast. The shuttle to airport only goes once a day and not close to our flight times. This hotel is a 45 minute taxi ride for $50 one way for 4 of us.The taxis are great even with our little spanish. The front desk was great with helping get taxis. Breakfast is fabulous. Our in room safe wouldn't open the day before we left but maintaince got it open for our passports.
