A wonderful place to stay

We absolutely loved our two night stay here. I had to persuade my non camping wife this was a good idea and I was so pleased that she loved it as much as me. The accommodation was really clean and extremely comfortable. The toilet facilities are basic but what you would expect in a desert setting . The showers were very good. A light breakfast with fruits, yoghurt, juice, coffee or Navajo tea was just enough to set you up for the day. The setting is amazing, with a great circular walk from the campsite offering some spectacular views. Being on a sheep farm, don't be surprised if a flock of sheep strolls through at some point guided by a couple of very friendly dogs. The site is ideally situated for visiting the Grand Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Page, Lake Powell and any number of organised tours, and the owners will be happy to make suggestions and answer any questions you have . This is a busy tourist area, for good reason and if you want to get away from it all and avoid a night or two in a hotel with lots of other visitors, and if you want comfort mixed with a sense of romance and adventure then this is the place to stay. Oh, and after a busy day exploring the canyons and lake this is the perfect spot to unwind and watch the night sky. I woke up at 2am to photograph the milky way, I have never seen the night sky like this before, it is amazing. I'm not sure if I will ever get the chance to come this way in future but if I do I will definitely try to stay here again.

We really enjoyed our time at Shash Dine' EcoRetreat! The grounds are beautiful and incredibly peaceful, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind. The amenities were excellent - we especially loved cozying up by the fireplace and enjoying the delicious breakfast in the morning. Both the shower facilities and our accommodation were spotlessly clean. The tent we stayed in was beautifully decorated, thoughtfully furnished, and came with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The bedding was warm and cozy, keeping us comfortable throughout the night. Highly recommended!

Wonderful experience off the grid

This was an excellent experience for us who are not used to camping out or being off the grid. Bats and Paul are wonderful hosts. Their ranch is amazing. Highly recommend staying here.

PROS: Place was nice & clean, amenities were good, comfy bed. CONS: couple owner were not as friendly & very strict with the rules. Written in check-in agreement “Failure to comply may result in loss of $500 deposit”. Wants specific time & early check-in for their convenience. We missed an itinerary to beat the check-in time.

My family stayed in the traditional Hogan built by our host Baya's grandparents. It felt special and something to be respected. Initially, I was concerned that the wood-burning stove would not keep us warm enough to combat the chilly night temp, but it kept us plenty warm and cozy! We enjoyed the solitude of nature and took in the natural beauty of the environment.

No other way to experience Page…

Wonderful experience. Very humble and grateful for a cultural immersion that dates back in history for Indigineous families in this country. Thank you Baya for straight to the truth hospitality and guidance. Also, left in LOVE with the ranch dogs.

My brother and me had a fabulous stay in the traditional hogan. We enjoyed the afternoon views on marble canyon area while doing a sunset hike and in the morning I enjoyed the sunrise in winter. Great hosts and can only recommend.

My family of 4 (adults) loved this Navajo experience! Paul and Baya were amazing hosts sharing traditional Navajo teachings/stories regarding the land and the Hogan where we stayed. The land around the glamp was breathtaking-a short hike to the top of the hill was a perfect spot to watch the sun rise and set. Although the night skies were incredible, it was too cold for us to stay out too long-the cozy space and warm fire in the hogan drew us back inside. It was such a meaningful experience for us - thank you, Baya and Paul for sharing with us!
