I booked smorking room by mistake. The room smells so bad. There is no other room available. Ok, it is my mistake anyway. I found floor is also dirty. Guess the hotel is getting old and not renovated at all. Don't mind, price is cheap. There are many foreign guests staying. In front of the vending machine,it looks an old lady having trouble. I said what's up? She said, I just wanna beer but don'w know which is... Sorry mam, there are no english instructions. I simply pointed out SUPER DRY for her. There is a natural spring spa at 16th floor, where I was rejected to enter. She said, sorry mister, pajama is not allowed. I said, are there such instruction? It's my mistake, let's go bed..... and asking myself.....am I out of Japanese common sense? Probably their answer is , yes you are....
Restaurants, Osaka Castle, the train station, nice walking paths, and a breathtaking view of Osaka are all to be expected upon arrival at Hotel Monterey Lasouer. The staff were friendly upon checkin and let us into our room early. You are within walking distance of Osaka Castle. There are tons of restaurants and shops nearby, including Family Mart and 7-Eleven. The view was amazing. You could see the ferris wheel and much of the city from our room. The chapel in the hotel is gorgeous, even though it's quite a strange thing to see on the 20-somethingth floor of a building! I would absolutely stay here again if I ever have the pleasure of returning to Osaka.
We were on the top floor and had a beautiful view of the canal. Our room was very nice. Only downside was that the beds and pillows were quite hard. Just a couple minutes walk from Kyobashi Station, and short walk to Osaka Castle. The hotel also offers very discounted car service to a number of locations in the city. The breakfast buffet was excellent and offers both traditional Japanese and western options. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
We stayed on the top floor. The bed was pushed against one wall which meant crawling over. There was only one bedside light above one side of the bed. There is no tour desk and no tours suggested by reception. The hotel is clean and in quite a good area being close to Osaka Castle and the canal. It is on the subway. I understand there is a large cultural centre in the same block. Unfortunately, we were told about this by fellow travellers when we were leaving! Staff are friendly. Stay clear of the fried eggs for breakfast as they were as tough as tyre rubber but the smoothies make up for it. No ice machine.
1)Easy access from Kyobashi Station (JR and Keihan Line). Also near to Osaka Business Park subway station. 2)Near to AEON and Keihan Mall. We bought dinner at Keihan mall. There is also a Family Mart on the first level where we can buy food and drinks. Family Mart has an ATM machine you can withdraw cash with your credit card. 3)Kyobashi Shotengai shopping district where you can find restaurants. 4)Rooms are cleaned daily. Well informed staff at counter. Well stay again.
A good 7 to 10 minute walk from Kyobashi station. In a quiet business area near Osaka Castle. Friendly staff, room was adequate and the price was reasonable. I've shown the taxi driver the Japanese address but he still got confused due to it being a bit isolated but there are convenience stores and fast food outlets in the area.
We stayed here for two nights when visiting Osaka as tourists. The hotel is located in the business district, close to Osaka castle, so if you want to visit Dotonbori and other touristy locations you have to travel up to half an hour on the train, but apart from that I was very pleased with the location. The hotel is easy to find from the Osaka Business Park station, and there are some restaurants and supermarkets in the business park. Also the location means that it's nice and quiet at night so we slept very well. The hotel itself feels plush but in a slightly old-fashioned way (although not at all shabby). I found it very charming, it reminded me of large New York hotels and it does feel very upmarket for the price. We had breakfast included in our room price and we were happy with the selection on offer, there are plenty of options, both Western and Japanese. We didn't use the restaurants for dinner as they are expensive and there are much better value places to eat in the business park or in the city itself. The hotel is obviously aimed at business conferences and weddings so everything is on a grand scale, beautifully decorated, and there's even a little white chapel(!) near the top of the building. It's quite different to the other hotels we stayed in during our trip and I enjoyed the novelty of this place. I would definitely recommend it.
We stayed here for a week, basing ourselves in Osaka while we explored the area and did day-trips on the bullet trains. It's quite close to Kyobashi station, which is part of the Osaka loop line (which goes direct to Universal). When you arrive at Shin-Osaka station, you have to catch another train to Osaka station, THEN catch the loop to Kyobashi. It's a bit complicated, but once you've done it the first time it's easy. Fairly easy walk to Osaka Castle 20 min-ish. Staff were very helpful, and spoke good English. The room was pretty tiny - but no more than is usual for Japanese hotel rooms! A laundry for guests to use would have made the stay even better. Breakfast was included with our rate... it wasn't fantastic. If you got there after 9, most of the hot food had gone cold. There's a convenience store and cafe on the ground floor of the building that are ideal for breakfast. The cafe did exceptionally good coffee, and had pancakes too.
Well situated for the castle, but otherwise an uninteresting area near a business park. Plenty of eateries nearby but few have English menus. The Family Mart downstairs is very good for breakfast if you don't want to pay for the hotel's. I stayed here because it was easy to get to from KIX. Just take the JR line and change at Tennoji. As others have described, the hotel is easily found from Kyobashi station, with a covered walkway all the way via the west exit. You can also easily get the subway into the centre of the city. Or you can catch the Keihan train to visit Kyoto (about 45 minutes, but take the red or pink trains, not the green or blue ones!). The room was a single but had an almost double sized bed in it - really very spacious for Japan. Very quiet location, good for this light sleeper. The only amenity I found lacking was a safe in the room. Oh, and there is no coin-operated laundry either in the hotel or nearby. The laundry charges were per item and very expensive in my view. The staff were pleasant and helpful.
We stayed at this hotel for 5 days and absolutely loved it. Nice comfortable beds and walking distance to everything. Friendly staff too. Just washrooms were a bit cramped but still workable. Would recommend!
