This hotel looked great from the pictures and description, and for the most part it was a great hotel. The downside was that the front desk and check in was located in another building and that was not explained anywhere before our arrival. So checking in was a hassle. There also was no maid service and the only thing they did was bring fresh towels if you called and asked for them. But, on a positive the view was wonderful and you couldn't be any closer to the beach. Great view, great location and a great value.
The location of this condominium style hotel was pretty much perfect. You walk out the back door and you are standing on the beach. The sand literally comes to the door. After that though it is pretty average or below. The front desk is in another hotel a block and a half away, so check in was difficult. They did not have daily cleaning service so when the garbage was full or you needed towels you had to call the front desk and hopefully they had not come to your building yet. The room was nice with a great view, but the mattress left something to be desired. The staff didn't volunteer the basic information such as WiFi passwords or how to go about navigating the building. All in all it was a good value but I do not believe I will stay here again.
Right on the water, with outside shower for rinsing off after a day on the beach and convenient shops, including inexpensive food shops, on the ground floor. Unit (2BR, 2 bath) was large and well equipped -- w/d, dishwasher, toaster, rice cooker, detergents, 3 tvs, dvd player. Parking is available. Biggest drawback is the noise -- all those sliding glass doors let in a ton of street noise, and we were at the front end of the building, near a busy intersection.
Condo on the beach: easy to have breakfast "at home" and not fight the crowds, literally step outside the gate and you are on one of the better stretches of beach in the area. Was pleasant to be out on the lanai overlooking the beach and ocean. Could have as much or as little maid service, fresh towels, etc. as you want. Use of Outrigger Reef Hotel facilities right next door. We made use of the underground garage at the condo, which has limited spaces. We were lucky to get a reserved spot and the price was reasonable enough that it sure beat having to be stressed out about parking the car all week in an area that is a headache if you have a car. Waikiki Shore is not a luxury place, but it is certainly more than adequate for a week: plenty enough space in the unit (we had a 1 BDR ocean view), basics for kitchen use, was very handy and lighter packing / luggage to have a washer & dryer right in the unit, bed & chairs were comfortable.
