stayed at this hotel for 5 night for a conference at nearby u mass dartmouth. i liked the suite with a large fridge, electric countertop stove, large microwave). it is more than adequate for a couple (although for two unrelated people the pull out couch is probably not wonderful, as a fellow-conference-goer told me). didn't have a chance to check out the pool and the gym as i was jet-lagged and tired. the buffet breakfast was quite decent: oats, waffles, baked items, and one that i liked a lot: do-it-yourself burritos with generous helpings of salsa, sriracha sauce, shredded cheese etc. overall a good experience. the staff were friendly and helpful as well
We stayed here with a large group for a baseball districts tournament. The staff was so friendly and welcoming from front desk to housekeeping to the breakfast team. The options for rooms whether you needed a studio, 1 bedroom, or 2 bedroom are great for varying needs. A very cute pool, patio area, and nice grounds make it very family friendly. The hotel also did a pretty good job grouping us together in blocks with the other families from our team. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite with everything you could need in the small kitchen and nice space in both the living room and bedroom. The one thing the kitchen could have used was some dish detergent. There are amenities close by for shopping, restaurants, etc. You could drive, but also the area is walking distance to many options. The hotel is literally right off the highway, but it's set back and very quiet and peaceful. Breakfast each morning was the same, but good and ample. They had offerings like eggs, meat, assorted breads and pastries. They did have a nice assortment of options for both their oatmeal and waffle bar. The kids enjoyed building their own ice cream sundae...I mean waffle lol. They also had your standard hard boiled eggs, cereal, fruit, and yogurts. So definitely plenty to choose from. The staff did a nice job maintaining the area and the great room has lots of options to sit together, mingle, and enjoy yourself. We'd definitely stay here again if the need arose and we were back in the area.
From the discovery of what has become New Bedford harbor to modern day whale hunting, including the biology of whales including various full skeletons, great displays of the uses of whale products. Successful whale boat captains are showcased . A 1/4 size whale ship replica complete with whale boats outfitted as they would have been. Virtually any whale related question with known answers can be answered here. Special exhibits are showcased from time to time. Right now it is a New Bedford newspaper phitographers exhibit ...captivating! Well worth a visit something for all ages over 3 revommended. We spent 2 hrs and saw about 80%. Ticket is good for 2 days! And includes the Seamans Bethel and Mariners home.
My wife and I recently spent 3 nights at the Residence Inn in North Dartmouth, MA and reserved a handicap accessible room. My wife does not use a wheelchair, but can walk only with difficulty using leg braces. The “handicap room” was sorely lacking, specifically: • The only handicap assistance was 2 horizontal bars on the inside wall of the bathtub. There was no vertical bar on entry which my wife needs for support to get into the tub. • The tub itself was full height, so climbing over it was a problem. Other hotels typically have a lower height tub or (even better) a walk-in shower. • There was no pull down chair to sit on for showering. • The handicap room was located far down 2 corridors at the furthest location from the lobby, nowhere near the elevator. My wife was not able to take a shower for the three days we were there. Basically, there was a total lack of concern for a handicapped individual. This is especially inexcusable for a premium priced hotel. The room was also in the worst shape I have seen in any Marriott property – and I have over 500 Marriott stays. The carpeting had numerous stains, as did the bedding. The furniture had stains, holes, and tears. Any Marriott where I have stayed has always replaced carpeting and furnishings before they reach this level of disrepair. The staff was quite unfriendly and unhelpful, never even inquiring about our stay. After the three days we moved to the nearby Fairfield Inn in New Bedford, another Marriott branded property. The stay there was exemplary, with a handicap friendly room that was appropriate. The room itself was very clean, along with a staff that was most pleasant. It is clear that the problem is with the management of The Residence Inn in North Dartmouth (this is a franchise), not with Marriott Corporation. Be sure that you stay away from this property. There are better choices in the area.
As a loyal member of Marriott Hotels, I am a bit disappointed in this hotel. I understand hotels will have wear and tear, but overlooking needed repairs and cleanliness is unacceptable. Our room was just not as clean as we have come to expect with the Marriott name. There were dead bugs in the light bulbs...in plain view. It's not like housekeeping would have to look hard to see these disgusting bugs. Our bathtub water would not drain while you showered. The water was literally up to our mid calves. When we called the desk, we were told it would be fixed that day. The repair never happened. There were two half dollar sized burn holes in the carpet. One in the living room and one in the bedroom. There wascalso mildew in the bathtub/shower. Come on Marriott, get your act together!!! You're better than this!!!!
The rooms are comfortable and spacious. All Residence Inns are pet friendly. Breakfast is good and plenty. The fitness center has some cardio equipment and free weights but no bench. However they give guests free passes to use Healthtrax Fitness & Wellness Center which is only a few blocks from the hotel. It is a fully equipped fitness center with excellent Nautilus equipment.
My son was bowling in the State Tournament last weekend, so we decided to do an overnight stay. Our friends also stayed, and the kids went swimming after their day of bowling. I had asked before leaving if the hotel carried firmer pillows or if I needed to bring it, and they told me it would be best to take my own. I appreciated them being honest about that. I checked in via the app on my phone, and once we arrived in the early afternoon, we got our keys and our amenity and went to our room for lunch. The room was even better than anticipated! We had a King Suite and the room had literally everything. There was a full kitchen with appliances, cookware, silverware, plates and cups. The refrigerator was a full size, not a mini. There is a dining table and chairs, as well as a desk and chair. The sofa opens to a bed. The bathroom had a very spacious tub, with jacuzzi jets. I nearly fell asleep in there before bedtime, it was that comfortable. The TV swings around so you can watch it in bed or in the living area. The pool was relaxing and we had it all to ourselves for a good hour! There are snacks near the pool area, at very reasonable prices, to pick up and go. The kids were able to enjoy an ice cream while they were hanging out on the patio at night and exploring the hotel. Breakfast the next morning was good; full hot breakfast and some cold choices were the offerings. Was a great stay, and we will definitely book Residence Inn properties in our future travels!
We've stayed here a number of times,my daughter lives about a mile away. The malls and restaurants are also down the street. The room was clean, the staff friendly and a nice free breakfast. Nice to have the room of a suite for the price.
From the time I called and made my reservation to the day I checked in, the staff was friendly from the start! They provided me with a spacious suite which accommodated all three of us comfortably. If needed, I would certainly stay here again next time.
An extremely delightful stay. Clean and inviting suite. Very spacious and well stocked with everything thing you might need if you were to stay in and make a meal. Quiet and comfortable. Friendly and courteous staff. Breakfast was wonderful.
