An extremely impressive Hilton property at a very beautiful and quiet location. The staff are so friendly and would go the extra mile to make a guest feel genuinely welcomed. Michael at the front desk certainly made this stay a very pleasant one for me by patiently helping me get upgraded to the room I like, ie, a room with a stunning view of the lake! I’m impressed with the staff at the lounge too for their friendliness. Overall, a great location with stunning nature beauty, gorgeously designed hotel, and very friendly hotel staff have made this trip so far the best ever at a Hilton resort. Certainly will come back again!
A new hotel, built directly at the lake, nice rooms, really well-equipped. But why is an electric kettle in the room with no tea or coffee to use it? Why do I have to walk through the restaurant to find a place with no used plates around? Why does the restaurant not have a second bottle of the same wine in our conference dinner? Service matters!
Our stay with pure perfection. Our lake view suite is simply gorgeous with a spacious balcony featuring stunning a view of the Dongqian Lake. Service staff in the exec lounge were welcoming, accommodating, and did an amazing job recognizing my Hilton diamond status. We had dinner and breakfast buffet at the resort and both were solid (although we wish the dinner buffet had a little more variety). All in all I would highly recommend this resort.
I recently was traveling for business in China, when I decided to stay at a Hilton resort. The service and accommodations were wonderful. I truly felt at home while staying at the hotel. I would recommend this Hilton location to anyone traveling in the Ningbo area.
Dongqian Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Zhejiang Province, pleasure boats criss-cross the lake, multiple attractive bridges, temples and pagodas, mountains provide a scenic backdrop... all of these things alas you barely get to appreciate from the Hilton Dongqian Lake Resort Hotel. The planners seemingly decided to site the hotel far far away from the most beautiful areas, choosing a forgotten corner of the lake - indeed the views feel more like looking across a small river.. especially as the supposed "lake view" is impeded still further by the planners deciding to plonk a massive Hilton business & conference centre in front. The perplexing nature of the hotel persists once you step inside - very inconsistent service is prevalent in most areas of the hotel. From the swimming pool, where on day one you are allowed to swim with no hat, to day two where its suddenly mandatory and a lifeguard waves a hat rudely in your face... from the recreation centre where you are told by the manager you can play snooker until 11pm, only for an employee with keys to turn up at 10pm telling you its closing.. to the hotel bar, where they start packing away all the bottles/glasses at 11:15pm, regardless of whether you wish to maybe purchase another drink... to the restaurant with many staff who glower at you if you have any additional requests (special mention to the man in charge of the coffee station at breakfast time for a complete lack of customer focus or friendliness)... finally to the check-in desk where the music from the hotel entertainment (a fairly tuneless live singer) is turned up so loud that you can barely talk with each other. The hotel is not all bad - the rooms are very well-appointed and spacious, with good facilities, especially the bathroom (the square bath in the corner is wonderful) and unusually for hotel accommodation, a comfortable temperature. Despite the service, the food in the restaurant is generally good (though surprising that the excellent sausages cooked for dinner buffet aren't an option for breakfast... replaced by bland mass-produced chicken sausages) and the hotel certainly can't be faulted for its cleanliness - its spotless. Beware of the floor in the swimming pool changing room however... whoever designed the hotel clearly didn't have any consideration for how slippery a changing room floor can be when wet - my 4 year old fell over on the shiny surface (not sure why they couldn't have installed a non-slip floor that most other hotels have). Finally as others have mentioned, the hotel layout is confusing - I've never stayed in a hotel before where you get changed for swimming on one floor, then take a lift upstairs to actually swim! It took about a day to work out there are multiple lifts in different areas of the hotel, and you can access most entertainment directly from the guest room floors - we spent ages walking around, transferring lifts and feeling a bit confused. In conclusion, the service, layout and positioning of the hotel do not lend themselves to a relaxing stay - the primary purpose of a resort hotel is to let guests feel relaxed, and we didn't feel that. The Park Hyatt on Dongqian Lake has demonstrably better service, layout and is situated at the heart of the lake.. oh, and an outdoor pool which is actually open (rather than closed because "its too hot, its too cold, its too sunny" etc.)
The hotel itself is great! Nice lobby, lots of amenities and great location. However I find the layout of the hotel to be very odd. Took me 3 different elevators to go to the recreation area, rooms are all far from the lake although the hotel is right next to the lake! What a waste I thought. My parents who are over 60 were also very confused with everything. For starter there no valet parking and had to go to the underground parking lot before checking in. They pretty much couldn’t find anything and were pretty frustrated during the stay. For a resort, it has very limited restaurant choices too, and the Chinese restaurant was fully booked so we have even less choice, the buffet. I was surprised. Overall, I think it’s a good hotel for younger families. Hotel has tons to area for kids to play including the bumper carts in the lobby, which I thought was super cute. However for an older family vacation, I’d stay away, just lacking that effortless relaxation aspect.
Great resort and great service from all the employees. Many options in the buffet, rooms very comfortable and with a lot of space, the gym has enough equipment for your daily routine, outdoor pool is great but unfortunately closed during this time of year due to weather conditions.
This hotel is a great place to unwind and relax or work while you are away from home. The scenery is beautiful and the staff is excellent (front desk, restaurant, housekeeping, et al. are professional and courteous)! I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
The property is brand new and clean. We are upgraded to executive room with lake view balcony. The view is toward the middle of the harbor and only very few room could enjoy that. A few ancient villages is across the lake and it’s quiet enough to hear the dog bark there. But be warned these are also the furthest rooms from lobby. The lounge and its people is of the best over all my experience. I’m arriving on a big meeting day and only 2 diamond members can aces the lounge. So it’s just off the crowd and they still provide a full service to us. The cookies are local style and happy hour has perfect salmon sandwiches. And also special thanks to Elen and Vera, they are among the most friendly and helpful lounge people of all time. They just make my life much easier with my grandparents who both in 80s. The breakfast is surprisingly good thanks to the meeting crowd. Better than most of Hilton’s. Full American breakfast with omelette with equal size Chinese food and noodle. The have a large choice of bread and cakes and also very professional tea selection. The bad part is the hotel has a poor selection for lunch and dinner due to the lack of guests. The fancy Chinese restaurant is a bit too much for leisure purpose and the other one even don’t open every day.
This is an absolutely gorgeous resort. The ground is well maintained, nice facilities, fresh room, beautiful view and very family oriented. It is a great place to unwind and relax. There are lots of things to do for children e.g playgrounds, swimming pools, games, indoor badminton court and basketball courts, table tennis, and snooker. If I were to nitpick, I think the breakfast is mediocre and doesn’t worth 168 rmb. The “European” style bread was rock hard and I thought it was made from styrofoam. The breakfast selection is mostly oriental and lack diversity and creativity. The soy milk was too thin and more like soy flavoured water. In addition, my biggest gripe is the difference in room prices. I checked in on Oct 10th and stayed for a night and this was after the busy China National Holiday. I reserved two rooms. The twin room I purchased in advanced (two weeks prior to check in) under the so called China NH sale is 100 rmb more expensive than the second room I purchased on the same day onOct 10th. I felt cheated. Although I enjoyed staying here, there will always be this speck tarnishing my experience here.
