Hotel de France2.0 out of 5.0

This two star hotel is conveniently located being only a 5 minute walk from the Promenade Des Anglais, and a 10 minute walk from the nearest bus stop for the airport. Unfortunately it is looking tired and could well do with some decoration and refurbishment. Rooms are clean and comfortable, although dated. Breakfast is advertised at €7.00 extra but offers a poor selection and is really not worth bothering with given the number of cafes that are within less than 5 minutes walk; the nearest is right next door to the hotel entrance.
I stayed in Hotel de France for three nights with a friend. The location was very close to the sea, but quite a walk from town. The wifi is seriously limited to the common areas of the hotel only. The reception staff varied, some were friendly, but we were given sarcastic remarks twice about our requests and got given completely incorrect information about where Ville Franche is. The hotel room was small, but clean.
We stayed here as a couple for 2 nights. We stayed at the top with no lift access. Although only 3 flights one of the party didn't have good knees and so struggled as a result. Customer service was average no exceptional help with touring information. Room was clean but bathroom was small and toilet lid broken and shower area small with shower head not staying upright much. No information about wifi and how to get to and from airport even though it advertises and shuttle. Usually you get a piece of paper with travel and wifi details nothing of sort. Ordered double bed and it was 2 single beds joined together so kept falling into gap in between (no double beds available). Breakfast was €10 for toast croissant and juice 😟 Location is good near the promenade so easy walk. Overall an average experience as the price was €100 which is quite dear for a 2* hotel with limited facilities. Positive is location: Negative is shower, bed, wifi
We just stayed at Hotel de France thursday to monday. It's location is superb if you are on holiday. 2 minutes to the beach and we ate at lovely cafes and restaurants right outside. If you are sleeping on the side of the rue de France you might need ear plugs (bouchons d'oreille) and it's true what the other reviews say, in that wi fi is non existent in the rooms and you have to sit in the public areas. Other than that it's a lovely, simple hotel with helpful and friendly staff. We would definitely come back.
On our 1 night stay in Nice , we booked this hotel . It very nice, the rooms are 3 twin beds. The bathroom is nice with a shower. We are 2 blocks from the beach. There are many places to eat and shop it the area. It's a 1 mile walk to Castle hill. It's a good value for the money.
Visited Nice for a brief stay. Ideally located and a budget hotel that does what it requires. Centrally located, clean and comfortable. On Rue de France which has everything a visitor needs food beer and good to watch the world go by. Didn't have breakfast as loads of places nearby to do so. Next to Cafe Brasserie which is great.
Although the majority of staff were very helpful, the overall experience here was terrible. The room was very basic, which is not a problem, but that is the end of my positive comments. The bed was covered in animal hair, the curtains did nothing to block out any light, the shower was so tiny I couldn't even lift my hands to wash my hair without knocking them on the glass. The shower head did not stay upright, so it was a constant battle to get wet without covering the bathroom in water. When we told reception about the issues they didn't seem to care and did nothing to fix the problems. I gave a rating of 1 because of the location. Very disappointing.
We stayed there with a group of female friends. The hotel is very simple so don't expect luxury here but the staff was friendly and the room were clean. The best thing about this hotel is its location. Literally 2 min from the beach and right behind the Negresco hotel, the area is safe and not noisy. Close to restaurants, it's perfect if you are spending most of the day outside.
We stayed a week at the Hotel de France. It's a simple place. Conveniently located on Rue d'Antibes, the main shopping strip, it gave us a room that was big enough for the three of us. The rooms don't come with amenities like water heater or coffee makers, but on the 2nd floor you can buy pretty much anything you might need in terms of basic food items. But what was outstanding was the service. The reception staff all spoke English and were unfailingly helpful. From helping us book taxies to fetching us beer, to extending out late check out to 4pm, they were perfect. If you're on a bit of a budget, I highly recommend Hotel De France.
On a visit to the Euros we stayed in this hotel. Booking was for one double and one twin room. Great location, close to central Nice. The hotel itself was ok, clean which is the main thing. Everything was very basic. Unfortunately the unit to hold the shower head was broken. Bathroom was very small. On the third floor the wifi did not work. Each night when we came in the night porter popped in to thank us in advance for our silence :-) Good for the purposes of the Euro 2016 trip.
