Quality Inn & Suites Middletown - Newport

The hotel was nice. Good breakfast. It was under some construction. We booked this hotel because it had an indoor pool, but when we got there, the pool was being worked on, so it was not available, but the still charged the same price.

room was not large but contained everything we needed

I was afraid after reading a lot of poor reviews from people who stayed here recently. They claimed the place was dirty and breakfast was bad. My experience was nothing like the past reviews. It was clean, comfortable, and pleasant. Food was fine.

Very good price. Very average hotel. For the price paid, this is excellent.

We'd never stayed in a Quality Inn before but felt it was more than adequate for our needs. The breakfast was good, bed comfortable, front desk and other staff friendly and helpful. The sole suggestion for improvement is to provide light blocking curtains--the glaring light from the parking lot was distracting. I made this suggestion when we checked out and hope management will adapt the windows to block lights. Other than that, this motel was fine!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Hotel was very good and close to beach and downtown Newport.

The hotel was good for the price. If you want to have a fun day/night in Newport without spending alot on a hotel this is a good choice. Its about 4 miles away from Thames but you can take a cab or other car service. The room looked pretty up to date minus the bathroom which had a musty smell. I would stay there again because the price was so reasonable.

Clean, affordable, great location, friendly staff. Would stay here again

My boyfriend and I stayed here on out first visit to Rhode Island and it was fine. The location is perfect from downtown Newport, we actually saved money because the hotel is located not far from there. Quick 5 min drive and we were right there. The hotel is on a busy street, so getting in and out was always an issue. There was some constitution going on when we stayed, other than that it was fine.

The hotel room was very nice, the ceiling was a bit dated, but the rest of the room was nice. We had both a refrigerator and microwave along with a good size flat panel TV. The exercise room was nice, and clean. The pool was decent sized for an indoor pool. The breakfast had both scrambled eggs, sausage and waffles as well as other continental breakfast foods. The eggs were a bit dry, but other than that it was a descent breakfast and was in a good sized room to accommodate a large number of people. We also got a free newspaper every day. The only draw back was the window coverings were wide enough to cover the windows, but let quite a bit of light into the room from the side. We would go back to this hotel.

We ended up moving 2 times to a room that was suitable. The first one had a broken toilet. The second had no heat. After all that moving our things, I was disappointed that they still charged me the extra $25 for having a pet. The inconvenience alone should have given us a break on the room charge. On a positive note, the staff was responsive and friendly. The breakfast in the morning was very good, lots of options for a continental breakfast. It was only the room itself that was disappointing.

Bed was not confortable, but in general it was OK.

Although, they offer "Free WiFi" in the rooms that are remote from the lobby practically there is NO WIFI connection. Also, the bathrooms are old. The room and linens were good - clean.

I decided this hotel because the breakfast was included. I was really disappointed, horrible!

For our overnight trip to Newport this hotel had all we needed: A clean, comfortable room, friendly staff, breakfast included and it was an easy 2 miles outside of Newport downtown. I almost didn't book with them due to some reviews mentioned renovations and unfriendly staff, but none of that was in evidence. If you want an economic, no frills hotel in this area, we recommend this one.

Hallways very narrow. Doors need to slam shut to lock. Other than that good stay for honeymoon!

I don't know what people expect sometimes. After reading the reviews people made this place out to be a dump with bad service. We arrived on a Friday and were greeted pleasantly by the women at the receptions desk. It only took a few minutes to check in, we dropped our stuff off quickly and were off to the folk festival. Saturday and Sunday we enjoyed the morning breakfast and a swim before we headed back to Fort Adams. The beds were very comfortable. Very pleased to have the refrigerator and microwave in the room. Overall our stay was perfect. Close enough to Newport without the Newport prices and to me the renovations are going well. We will be booking again for next year.

When I arrived, they almost completed the rennovations. My room was set up nice but I noticed a couple of hair strands in the bathtub. The free breakfast was good and had a good selection of food! On my second day, I got up early and left the hotel at 7:30am to do some sight seeing. When I return to the room for a quick nap at 1:30pm, MY ROOM HAS NOT BEEN CLEANED! It was in the same condition where I left it. I spoke to the female hotel manager who kept giving me stupid excuses such as the hotel is too big and it takes a while for the staff to clean. I told her she was wrong and to evaluate her housekeeping staff! Needless to say she sent someone to clean my room but the bathroom was not throughly cleaned. I heard one of the customers complaining to management how they returned from a day of sightseeing only too find that the housekeepers left their room door open (A few other customers experienced the same thing). Are You Kidding Me??? The beds were very soft. However, the air conditioner only works on auto setting but does not give you the option to allow to run ongoing. Like I said, they need a few more improvements. Make sure you tell the hotel staff your room needs cleaning before you leave. Don't leave valuables since they don't have a safe. The hotel is at a perfect location!

First arriving, the individual working didn't show up when calling and when he finally did, he was in sweatpants and took his time to check me in. Once checking me in, he kept insisting I gave him my credit card. I expressed that I had already paid online but refused to let me finish a sentence. I became so furious that I just gave him my card. Once getting to the room, this place needs a paint job for sure and I found receipts and old checks near the night stand from 3 weeks ago, showing how well they cleaned. Disgusting. The pool wasn't open, either. The only thing that would make me book again was having a jacuzzi in the room as well as a bath.

This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. The hotel is in shambles. They say they are renovating but it just looks like they are letting the whole place fall apart to me! This hotel is supposed to be 100% smoke free but from the time I walked into the front lobby to check in I could smell smoke (I thought, ok it's the front lobby perhaps someone had smoked a cigarette just outside the doors). The gentleman who greeted me at the front desk was a very nice guy but the way he was dressed made him look like an auto-mechanic at Pep Boys or something. He had a nit cap on, a short sleeve button down work shirt with long sleeve thermal under ware on underneath it with poly work pants on. He wasn't very proficient on the hotel's computer system either. He must've been the maintenance man and they use him as the front desk attendant after hours. Again this young gentleman was very helpful and attentive so I hate to down him in any way. Our room was down a long dimly lit corridor, with a low ceiling that reminded me like I was walking in a basement. All the time going to my room the smell of smoke got stronger and stronger. When I opened my door I was taken aback. The room reeked of smoke and it was very dingy and dirty looking. I immediately went back to the front desk and requested a refund. I stayed the weekend in RI at the Courtyard by Hilton down the road a bit...stay away from this Quality Inn! There is no Quality and if I could give it less than 1 star I would!!
