About this property

Riverside wood lodge in Weston, Newark hot tub WiFi wood stove pets parking

**Scarthingmoor House Farm – Luxury Log Cabin with Private Hot Tub, Cantilevered Over the River**

Escape to the Nottinghamshire countryside and unwind in this large, cosy log cabin, perched right over a gentle river on the edge of the village of Weston. Wake to sheep, birdsong and the sound of running water, spend your evenings under the stars in your own private hot tub, and fall asleep in a king-size bed beside a crackling log burner. Whether you're planning a romantic break, a well-earned rest from city life or a comfortable base for exploring Sherwood Forest, Newark, Southwell and Lincoln, Scarthingmoor House Farm is the kind of place you'll want to come back to.

**The cabin**

What started as a quirky cabin built on stilts to raise the level, from solid timber is now best described as a timber lodge cantilevered out over the water, the cabin has a warm, open-plan design that makes the most of its riverside setting. Large windows bring the outside in, and the covered decking is the perfect spot for morning coffee or a glass of wine as the sun goes down.

Inside you'll find:

- A comfortable living area with a plush leather sofa, 65" Samsung smart TV and free high-speed WiFi – stream your favourite shows on Netflix and Amazon Prime (inc) .. or stream your playlist via Bluetooth on the JVC CD player or simply switch off completely
- An open-plan king-size bedroom with high quality linen and soft towels provided for showering and hot tub use.
- A fully equipped kitchen with everything you need to cook a proper meal, from a quick breakfast to a leisurely dinner for two
- A modern bathroom with large hot shower and fresh towels
- A log-burning stove for those cosy nights in, with logs supplied, plus electric heating throughout so the cabin is warm and welcoming whatever the season
- Iron and ironing board, hairdryer and all the little touches that make a stay easy

**Your private hot tub**

The star of the show. Your own hot tub sits just outside the cabin, tucked away for total privacy, so you can soak away the day while listening to the river below. It's heated and ready for you on arrival, and we've left simple, clear instructions so you can get straight in. There's nothing quite like a hot tub on a crisp evening with the mist rising off the fields.

**Peace, privacy and the great outdoors**

The cabin sits in its own quiet corner of the farm, surrounded by fields, trees and wildlife. You may spot herons and kingfishers on the river, deer at the woodland edge and owls calling at dusk. It's genuinely dark at night here, so on a clear evening the stargazing is superb. Walkers and cyclists will love the network of local country lanes and footpaths.

**Pet friendly**

Well-behaved dogs are very welcome – there's plenty of space for them to stretch their legs and a river to splash in. A small nightly pet fee applies … just let us know when booking.

**Exploring the area**

Scarthingmoor House Farm is ideally placed for a real taste of Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire:

- **Sherwood Forest and Robin Hood Country** – the legendary Major Oak, forest trails and family days out at Clumber Park, around 20 minutes away
- **Newark-on-Trent** – a historic market town with a magnificent riverside castle, independent shops, antiques and great cafés, about 15 minutes' drive
- **Southwell** – home to the stunning Southwell Minster, the Workhouse (National Trust) and a lovely array of pubs and tea rooms
- **Lincoln** – one of England's finest cathedral cities, with its medieval castle, the Magna Carta, and the famously steep Steep Hill, within easy reach for a day trip
- **Clumber Park and Rufford Abbey** – beautiful National Trust and country park estates for walks, picnics and cycling
- **Local pubs and dining** – a handful of excellent country pubs are just a short drive away, including our personal favourite, the Milestone Brewery at Cromwell, where you can enjoy real ales brewed on site alongside hearty food

The A1 is only minutes away, making the cabin easy to reach from London, the Midlands and the North, yet once you arrive you'd never know it – all you'll hear is the river.

**Why guests love it**

- Total privacy – your own cabin, your own hot tub, your own space!
- The unique riverside setting, built right over the water
- A proper king-size bed and a log burner for a truly cosy stay
- Everything you need for a self-contained break, with a warm welcome from hosts who live on site
- Dogs welcome

**Your hosts**
