Inconvenient location, few amenities. Unless you Uber or take taxis, it's inconvenient. Not near subways or restaurants. When it was a Comfort Inn, they had a shuttle. No more. Used to have free breakfast. No more. Used to have free coffee or tea in the lobby. No more. No coffee pot in the room. Room was clean, but Spartan. Bed was comfortable. Towels were large. Power went out in the bathroom the morning we were leaving. Must have been an omen.
Very nice hotel. Love the wood floors in rooms. Very friendly folks at reception. Max was so friendly, as was Kimberly. Jose, the bartender was absolutely the best. Great dinner recommendations and conversation and warm host. We would definitely come back.
I called the hotel before making reservations and they answered all my questions on what to do, where to go and questions about the hotel. The hotel sits in an industrial area. I felt safe and secure at this hotel and in the area. Check in, We were greeted with a smile by Kenya and check in went smooth. Kimberly in the evening at the desk was so funny. She was very personable and she has a great persona to be at the front desk (2 thumbs up to Kimberly). Natalia your doing wonderful. Andrea, thank you for letting me talk your ear off. All of the front desk staff I dealt with were outstanding and doing a great job. Our housekeeper, Tiny, always walked around with a smile and took care of all our cleaning needs. Destiny, part of the housekeeping team, was a pleasure to get to know and very knowledgeable about the area. Melissa and the other gentlemen at the coffee/breakfast shop made you feel welcomed. The star of the staff has got to be Jose, the bartender! He made you feel like you were one of his friends when you were at his bar. The staff here are all so wonderful. The room was clean, smelled great and modern. No carpet in our room which was great if you have allergy problems. The room was big enough for us. We understand that some NYC rooms are tiny but this was not. The a/c was cold and worked. The towels here were very large, soft and luxurious. The soap, shampoo and lotion they provide were of spa quality. There was a small fridge and safe in the room. We drove into Brooklyn, hotel provides parking for 16.50 a day. Very cheap. This hotel is a MUST STAY if you are in the Brooklyn area. And if not stay here anyway! I have already booked my next trip back just because I want to stay here. Thank You to the Look hotel and ALL their AMAZING STAFF members. If I could give this hotel more then five stars I would!!!
We booked this hotel nearly a year ago, to be near the cruise terminal, and have written confirmation of such. Just been advised that they will not honour our reservation because of an error in their reservation system! Without checking with us they booked us into another hotel some 12 miles away stating that they are excited to host our visit (what utter BS). We had to cancel that and make more sensible arrangements. When I spoke to the manager I didn't get the impression that he cared at all. With their attitude I couldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.
Enjoyed the BAR downstairs - nice opportunity to try some local craft brews. The elevator was painfully SLOW. I was working the Formula E Race and we were walking distance (6 blocks) to our Entrance. We also found a number of good food options in the neighborhood.
. As we were departing the next day on a cruise we sought out the closest hotel to the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in Red Hook, NY and chose the Look Hotel, Red Hook, an Ascend Hotel member formerly known as the Comfort Inn, Red Hook. The hotel is located in a not too salubrious area, but it is very close to the terminal. Upon arrival we were greeted by a pleasant lass named Kim who quickly looked after our checking in and answered many questions. Our room on the third floor has recently undergone renovations and it is small but charming. The bathroom is surprisingly large with a bath and a shower, large soft fluffy towels and 0inch flat screen TV, that bizarrely enough cannot change channels from sitting in bed; you have to stand in front of the TV to change channels. The room also has a safe and a fridge and adequate hanging space. The hotel also as excellent, fast in room Wi-Fi. Oddities included a toilet seat with no lid and a towel rail 2” above cistern lid. This I am sure will be changed as the refurb continues. Breakfast consisted of bagels, juice and coffee/tea. As we booked our room last year when it was the Comfort Inn, free breakfast was included. Since the change of ownership, we were given a credit of $10 each, which meant our breakfast of two juices, two bagels and two coffees came to $20.50, so we only paid 50c. A bargain for what we had. All in all a charming hotel, very reasonably priced and yes, we would definitely stay here again,
Hotel looked good on their website in what seemed to be an interesting neighborhood. My wife and I decided to book two nights so we could visit her newly born niece in Brooklyn. When we arrived at the hotel, we parked in the parking lot. The lobby looked nice and and quaint . When we checked in at the reception, the lady was very rude. She did not even acknowledge us and seemed to be preoccupied on her phone. She made no eye contact nor welcomed us. We were told that there was a parking fee, which we were fine with. The check in process did not seem warm at all and my wife be I felt like just a number . When we checked into our room, there was a mild odor. After a long drive from Reading, PA we just wanted to rest comfortably. The bathroom was filthy and the there was hair on the sheets. We did not have the energy to complain. My wife decided to freshen up at her sister's place instead. When we came back that night, we went straight to bed. Our sleep was interrupted by the noise from the hallway. A sleepless night for sure. On the second day, we left early in the morning and returned late that night. The room was not even cleaned properly. We could not wait to leave the hotel and head back home. The only positive experience was the coffee stand. The gentleman was nice and at least smiled at us. We felt completely cheated for what we paid for. Hotel really needs to teach their employees how to appreciate their guests and and least provide a clean room . We really felt let down.
We booked two nights at, what was then, The Comfort Inn Red Hook 6 months in advance. When we arrived, Comfort Inn was gone, Look had taken over the reins and we were extremely disappointed in our accommodations. In fact, we hated our two night stay and THAT has never happened before. The room had a cold, sterile look and feel, which may appeal to some, but not to anyone who enjoys the warmth and feel of a Comfort Inn. There was no real place to hang clothes, open suitcases, no coffee maker, microwave, fridge, no carpeting (ship motifs in room are weird!) and we had to ask for glasses to rinse our mouths when we brushed our teeth. Everything is "a la carte" at Look (even the name "Look" is strange) and we will not be returning. The proximity to Brooklyn terminal is handy, but we will stay elsewhere next time and take a cab. The staff was nice and accommodating, but when only a small cup of coffee is offered in the extremely cramped lobby... "fuggetaboutit"! Oh... wifi is sketchy at best.
The Hotel is located in the run down neighborhood of Red hook, Brooklyn. It’s also part industrial area and walking to or from the hotel after dusk is highly risky, a bum kept walking in the lobby and begging on the first night. The staffs are OK but could be better when comes to customer service. The check-in agent seemed to be quite rude and the room that was given to us had multiple issues. The exhaust fan in the bathroom was so loud that every time we used the bathroom, we got a headache. The bathroom door handle was broken/twisted and open metal was exposed where my wife mistakenly scraped herself really bad. Upon opening the blanket on the bed, found multiple curly hairs on the bed sheets (disgusting) and private hairs on the bathtub. The Bed was very uncomfortable (one of the worst beds I’ve slept/tried to sleep on). Needless to say sleep did not happen for both of us for the two night’s stay we had. Totally unsatisfied with the stay and paying $150/night plus $15 overnight parking fee ($15/night) and the location just does not meet the expectation of this hotel. There is a mini-fridge and a mini safety box in the room which is something better than nothing. Breakfast is not included or tea/coffee. They do have a little corner where they sell beverages, tea, coffee and some snacks. Better option to just go around the corner to Comila’s Café (20 seconds walking) where you will find amazing Coffee and decent breakfast (way better than whatever the hotel is selling). I totally would not recommend it.
