French Market Inn

Beautiful Boutique Hotel with lots of character. The staff was very friendly. great location if looking to stay in the French Quarters. Great value.

Over all this hotel has beautifully cared for lobby and convenient location. That's all. Rooms are tiny, dark and rreally dated.Like very old dusty carpet, rusty ACs, paint coming off the walls, bad smel. I was looking forward to our stay in New Orleans and decided on French Market inn because of the great reviews. I did see 3 rooms at the hotel before we settled down, all of them were small and dark. First room had AC unit broken, so the temperature in the room was 59 degree. Maintenance person, when called in, assured me that it just takes time to warm up...we waited for 3 hours with the same end result of 59. Front desk was not helpful at all first part of the day,I was told that hotel was fully booked. Then there was a change of shift and the lady helped to resolve the issue by moving us into different room, also tiny but with working AC and no horrible smell. Long story short: if you are claustrophobic and have allergy to dust - do not book this hotel .

Great Location for the price. Close to everything. The room is big.

Quaint hotel in French Quarter. We came to attend Bears-Saints football game. The room was fine and the staff very friendly and accommodating.

Overall our stay was very nice and the French Market Inn is centrally located to everything. If you want to head to Bourbon it's two blocks away, if you want to head to Frenchman only 10 min away, the Garden District is about 45 min walking distance and the Mississippi is literally across the street. My only complaint that there was a water bottle on the floor in the room from the previous occupants. It was in plain sight sticking halfway out from the bedside table. My thought was if they missed THAT what else could they have missed? When i brought it to the front desk's attention i thought they were rather cavalier about the situation. I work in public service myself and if someone brought that to my attention I would be horrified.

The hotel itself is really cute in a great, very walkable location in the Quarter. The staff is really friendly and there is a courtyard with a pool that's really nice to relax at. The room I stayed in was very spacious with exposed brickwork and a comfy bed, highly recommend.

We just returned from a week stay at the French Market Inn. There are many pluses to this hotel but there are also a few oddities to it too. The Decatur street location made it convenient to walk to places like Jackson Square, Cafe Du Mond, the French Quarter and the river front. The hotel was also a short walk from the Riverfront and the Canel St street car lines, making getting around easy using Jazzy passes purchased at the Walgreens two blocks away. The hotel has a beautiful courtyard with a small saltwater pool which was a great place to cool off on hot days. The hotel doesn't provide soap dishes for the bathroom sink or shower stall. This meant we had to store the shower bar soap on the sink counter so it wouldn't melt away. Most days the cleaning staff would discard the open bar soap causing us to have open new bars. It seems wasteful and I would have preferred that the hotel provide shower gel and liquid hand soap which would resolve the storage and waste issues. I also found the scent of the provided products to be heavily perfumed. I recommend bringing your own shampoo and soap. The other oddity was the housekeeping staff's approach to daily room cleaning. If we were out of the room when housekeeping came by they took care of everything expected (make the bed, refresh the towels, etc.) If we were in the room at the time the housekeeper would ask what we needed and when we returned to the room later we would find that only the things requested were done.

I loved this hotel. It in a perfect location. I found it to be extremely clean and quiet. It is not a chain hotel so don't expect that kind of atmosphere. My room was small but cozy and better yet cool which is nice after 90 deg F plus days.

We had great customer service by friendly staff. They had a wealth of information to get you to what you want to see and do.

Staff was great: friendly, helpful, accommodating. Liked that they give you the history of the hotel at check in. Lots of charm. Bathroom was not very clean, but I chose not to complain as they allowed us to check in early. (Perhaps they were rushing???) Was very convenient for our activities in the area.

After I stayed at the hotel, I could not believe the price! The character, charm, and service of this hotel far exceeds their reasonable price! The brick running throughout the hotel made me feel like I was staying in a historical gem and the staff treated me like I was at a 5-star hotel! The valet parking is totally worth the cost, especially since the hotel is minutes from the French Quarter! We walked to Cafe Du Mond in less than 5 min! Our room was ready when we came to park, so the hotel staff let us check in early! This was just one of the many positive interactions with every member we encountered! Wonderful, wonderful experience! We will definitely stay again!

When you first arrive the staff is very welcoming and friendly. The lobby is beautiful, and so is the courtyard and the room. The location is phenomenal.

Friendliest hotel staff, very accommodating. Lobby busy and clean. Layout is really neat, not a typical hotel.

Absolutely loved this hotel. Very comfortable – rooms were small but we weren't in them often. Fantastic location-close proximity to anywhere we wanted to go. We walked to the entire trip – no car once we arrived at hotel . Staff was great – got us anything we needed – and always helpful with suggestions of places to eat, things to do, or transportation concerns. Would go back here in a minute – and recommend to friends and family !

I was worried the location would be a little too far from the Bourbon Street, but it was just a short walk away. The area around the hotel was always busy so I really felt like I was a part of the city. The staff was very warm and funny. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone looking to stay in the French Quarter, have a lively experience, and is looking for a place that is not as loud as Bourbon Street at night. I was kind of worried about being in an interior room, but it was actually really pleasant because I was able to sleep in easily! Only complaint was that there was some mold on the ceiling of the far corner in the shower. The valet parking was a little confusing because I arrived at night and there were not open spots to parallel park at in front and I did not see any signs for valet.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is located across from the steamboats on the Mississippi and it's a five minute walk to bourbon street. We stayed in the one king size bed with window room. It was cozy and very well maintained. The valet can take a while, so let them know you need your vehicle at least 30 minutes in advance.

It is the perfect location to walk to everything! The staff was extremely nice and we felt right at home during our stay!

Excellent staff! Great location. If you want to be near it all this is the place to be.

The French Market Inn far exceeded our expectations. We were attending a conference at the Westin Hotel, which is just down the street, and didn't want to pay their very expensive "discounted" room rate. I decided to look around and found the French Market Inn for less than half the price of the Westin. And what a pleasant surprise it was. It is a very old space built sometime in the 1800's that was once a warehouse. It was eventually converted to a hotel and it has character that very few modern hotels can compete with. Our room was immaculate with plenty of room. I definitely recommend this hotel and will stay there again the next time I travel to New Orleans.

The hotel is right on the Mississippi and is deep in the French Quarter, so the location was nearly perfect for our purposes. Many of the best restaurants in the City are right around the corner. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room itself was on the 4th floor overlooking Decatur St. and the Mississippi. The weather was lousy during our stay, so we spent a lot of time in the room watching ships go by. There was an incident with the elevator in which we got stuck on the 2nd floor for a few minutes, but it was quickly corrected.
