The location of the hotel was perfect, just a moments walk away from Ornos Beach and Ornos bus stop. I'd read some pretty negative reviews online about the hotel, but upon arrival, I struggled to see how they could relate in any way.. (and I'm quite high maintenance) The room and bathroom were very spacious and clean, the balcony was lovely and private and looked over the very quiet and clean swimming pool.. You could not get better for your money in this location. Ornos is the most perfect location to stay in Mykonos, I've been to the island multiple times now and it has the perfect balance of relaxation and buzz.. Very easy to just pop on a sea taxi or bus to explore more of the island.
Friendly welcoming staff, clean and comfortable beds and 2 minutes from Lovely Ornos beach. You can walk into Mykonos town from here, we did a couple of times if you don't mind the Summer heat, and a hill...morning preferably, buses also available and close by.
well, what can I say. We have been visiting the beautiful, quaint hotel for the last 10 years and continue to be amazed at the attention, service and hospitality. The Owners are on hand every day, working at least 17 hours day, to ensure all is running smoothly. The location is ideal as it is just 50 meters from the restaurants, bus stop to the main town and beach. The warmth of all staff and attention to our needs is what keeps us coming back over and over. It is like coming home to family. Every guest we spoke to during our stay seemed very happy. Breakfast is amazing with fresh products and a big smile. We are planning a return with the kids in 3 weeks and cant wait! OPA!
Entrance has stairs but no wheelchair access and no porter assistance offer immediately upon arrival. So guests have to carry their own luggage to enter. That's tough job for a lady. The room was dusty and have no cups at all, neither chairs. Not enough hot water to supply all guests. Light bulb as dim as firefly in the bathroom so had to take cold shower in the dark both days we stayed. Hair dryer was very old and broken. Showers had very low wall hook on the long side of the tub so you had to hold them above you, Made the complaint but was shrug off. Was told the reason there was no hot water was because some other guest took bath instead of shower !!! Another pair of travel companion found their bath tub soiled by a stinky raw egg. You can tell the maids had not entered the room many days. A/C clicks and hum every 10 minutes from room above. Mediocre breakfast and seats only 20 guests max. Extra seating available by the pool but not rain proofed and we had the bad luck of running into a raining morning so had to wait a long time for seating in the tiny dining area.
Had this hotel booked through our travel agent and overall very happy with it. From the start the staff were excellent, very kind and helpful, particularly the man on the front desk, his name started with an L? The wait staff and cleaners etc as well we're very friendly and kind. The rooms were comfortable and cool with the aircon, everything worked fine. The shower/tap water is salty but I think that is the case over the whole island from the desalination plant. Pool was clean with nice lounges around. Location excellent, five minutes from beaches, bakeries and good restaurants and a bus stop to take you into town. Wifi intermittent at times but enough to get by, and better on the balcony/brekky room. Definitely would stay again, a pleasant experience for our first time in mykonos.
Pros: Friendly staff Big rooms Ok breakfast Near the beach - walking distance- 5 minutes Many restaurants around the hotel Cons: Wifi not working in all hotel They forgot me at the airport- paid transfer Many stairs Salty water from the shower Some of the staff would hit on you inappropriately
As with previous reviews this hotel needs to be avoided until management or the owner take action. It is the worst hotel I have stayed in. We booked on trip advisor a few months ago reviews and pictures looked fine. The reality is the pictures are from 2009 and appears to have had no investment since. The staff Front of house are arrogant, rude and lazy. Its almost that you have done them a favour by booking. Elias, we had most contact with him, we found him the rudest person, most arrogant and un caring. Problems raised brought a shrug of the shoulders and fobbing off couldn't care less attitude, but he preys on single females. Only the chef, the maid and the pool attended all non Greeks work hard to keep the hotel functioning. The rooms. (We requested a change after two nights and the second room was the same). Tired old fashioned with furniture that is dated and wardrobes beginning to come apart. The bed frames are nice but the mattresses are like a brick as are the pillows. The air conditioning works but the pipes rattle and hum on the roof, we did not have ours on but could hear everyone else's. Every 20minutes it kicked off it was like Chinese water torture. No withstanding other guests putting the tv on at 4am after clubbing or the chap next door using the toilet at 6am every morning, yes you could hear everything through paper thin walls and that includes Elias with a couples of girls. Showers had no wall hooks and you had to hold them above you, the bath no plug. Yes the water is salty but this is because the desalination plant is working hard this year because of drought. The towels were old grey and frayed. The maid can only work with what she is being provided with. The pool was clean and clear. The sun beds old tired and very stained. The pool towels were at least 3 years old and ragged. Everyone thought the stray cats were cute but cat kill was found in what might be called a children's play area but when the hotel first opened. The hotel needs knocking down and starting again, and those responsible as management sacked. You would not pay me enough to stay again.
I find it hard believe the reviews I read before we booked the hotel are about the hotel we stayed in. I am trying to keep this review brief, but the list of complaints is endless. I tend to ignore bad reviews as I often think people are nit-picking, but I feel it necessary as I feel that our hard earned holiday was a "rip off". We would have done much better staying in an apartment, or any other hotel in the area. I have stayed in two other hotels in the area where the service and rooms were exceptional (and the same price), and I was expecting the same from Dionysos. Staff indifferent and unhelpful at check in. After waiting two hours for check in (website does say check in after 3 pm to be fair), they gave us a room we did not book (pool view when we paid extra for a sea view). After complaining they gave us a sea view room. Room was not like the pictures on their website. More basic than a motel. Bed, cupboard (with a safe), old fridge, chest of drawers and a chair. Bathroom old, run down with a hand shower, stained bathtub, cracked counter, broken drain. Salt water in the bathrooms. Had to buy water from local supermarket for drinking, only to find no glasses in the room. Asked receiption to arrange to have glasses in our rooms, and were told to get them from the bar. We were given two plastic glasses which were never cleaned or replaced in the time we were there. Bed comfortable, but linen not changed in a week, and stains on the cover. Bottom sheet was never straightened or pulled tight by housekeeping. Towels changed daily, but had holes in them and were grey. We chose to sleep with balcony doors open instead of using aircon. Were woken up at midnight by reception one night to say we had to sleep with doors closed. When we questioned it the next day, were told "you have aircon" and someone can get into your room. Smell of sewerage in the bathroom. Cardboard thin walls - could hear man snoring in adjacent room. Loud noisy guests. When I tried to call reception at 3 am, but no directory to find the number for reception. Our room was situated under the solar heating panel on the roof. Loud, clunking noises at all times of day and night. Could also hear other guests in their bathrooms. Despite all websites claiming there was wifi in all rooms, the only place we were able to use it was in reception, and at times it didn't work there either. Arranged transfers to our hotel on arrival. No driver at the airport. Called hotel and were told "he is there". He wasn't! Arrived 20 mins after we had called. Asked for hotel to call us a taxi on departure as it is cheaper than their transfer, and were told that it would be more expensive and no taxis were available - even though he did not try to call! No beach towels at 10 am. We were told to wait for an hour to get them. Filthy sun loungers at the second pool. Animal faeces in the passage near our room one morning. "Gym" is a garage with a boat in the entrance. Cleaning staff and the lady at reception were friendly and nice, unlike the management. One particularly grumpy man who I think was the manager. Did not look at guests or acknowledge them in any way. I have stayed in many hotels in Greece and have always felt welcome and like "one of the family". Here I felt like I was an unwanted guest. I am not rude, and don't expect the staff to be rude to me. In general, attitude of the reception staff was uncaring, and generally found them sitting outside smoking and did not want to help. Unfortunately we had paid for the hotel in advance, so were unable to leave to find another hotel. It felt like a hotel that is about to close or is having staffing issues. Such a wonderful location, and a bit of investment in the rooms and staff could make this into a lovely hotel.
We stayed 7 days in this hotel "4" stars OMG what a misery hotel, get so desapointed. We got worst experiance ever in one hotel "4" stars. On the internet photos show very nice hotel but reality is totaly different. Old rooms, dirty towels, dusty, salt water you cant even wash your teets, toilet shell had a big yellow mark and also marks everywhere in the bathroom, also I left one mark on the room mirror but noone clean it for a week. Bed sheets were not changing at all, when they fix you a room the cleaning woman change the sides of the sheet but dont put new ones, NON internet in the room only if u go out on the balcony! Breakfast was so basic like on the old train station not hotel 4 stars, cereales was rancid you couldnt eat them, the waiter (stuff) was coming all the time to ask if we were finished to eat becouse he was hurry up to finish his work. The gym they have is actualy in the garage omg. The stuff was acting like they were the guests, absolutely not polite ,they charged us 20€ to bring us to the airport which is 3km away. Absolutely not recomending this hotel!!!Unfortunately I didnt check Tripadviser before we booked. P.S. The people who give good recomendations is actualy the people who work in the hotel and they are forced to writte the best, reality 99% different!!!
Dionysos is the kind of hotel where you can find the calmness and relaxation you need. I had a wonderful vacation here in Ornos, Mykonos and spent all my 6 nights in this hotel. They also have a dazzeling and talented bartender, Alex, who really made our nights even more magical.
