Amazing stay!

Looks like a constant construction zone out front The bed was very lopsided and uncomfortable 5 stars is a big reach

I really would like to be positive, but the fact remains that I grossly overpaid for a room with old, stained carpet and over-designed furnishings that left little floor space to maneuver. The lights are operable by a number of switches. We never did figure out how to turn on the giant pendant lamp, so for the most part the room was poorly lit and felt gloomy. The hotel is located next to a dilapidated property and feels unsafe. Another minus are bathtubs that are open and visible from the bedroom (electronic mini blinds are available, but extremely unattractive and inconvenient to raise and lower when needed), as well as a WC that does not seal completely for privacy. I am asked by Orbitz to rate the hotel for “eco-friendliness.” No such efforts appear to be taken by the hotel (disposable Nespresso pods and no evidence of a recycling program). My room was cleaned, even though I had instructed staff not to, because I was returning shortly after breakfast. The bed was stripped and new sheets and pillow linen given, which seems wasteful. I would think educated Sofitel guests would not mind sleeping with the same sheets 2 days in a row, but maybe I’m wrong. The breakfast was very good. But beware the space is cramped and it gets crowded toward the end of breakfast (11am). The final insult is an empty minibar in a luxury room that cost $500/night. Unless you get this hotel for a bargain, I would not recommend it. The one positive are the friendly and well-trained staff.

It was ok in general. There was no running water when I woke up in the am to leave for the airport. Stayed there 1 night.

The staff and service was fantastic. The rooms were clean and orderly. The pool and spa was unique and well run. Everybody from the bell staff to bar to desk to housekeeping were great. The food was also very good. And the location was near many of the districts highlights we wanted to experience, plus it was located very near the train station.

At the present time I have nothing good to say about the Sofitel in Munich. I arrived home and checked my credit card bill. The charged amounts were changed by the hotel and 2 additional charges were added for the 2nd stay. I booked 2 rooms. The first stay was for 4 nights. I checked out in the evening and questioned additional charges. They changed the bill and gave me new receipts. We returned after visiting other countries for the overnight before our flight. I asked if there were any charges before leaving that morning. There were none. My credit card showed BOTH rooms had charges of 116.75. I have no idea of why. I was charged for one granddaughter's breakfast and it wasn't changed. I have tried to deal with them through e-mailing. I have had NO response. I have a business and know for a fact it is no way to deal with a problem situation. I'd also like to ad that the restaurants are very expensive for the quality of the food and choice. Breakfast is $40.00 with no a la carte available. Except for the bar, there is no choice for lunch. It was $160.00 for 2 children and 3 adults for sandwiches and 3 beers! I will say the wait staff at breakfast is very amenable. Their cappuccino is excellent.

Bonjour, thank you for your kind feedback. I’m glad you enjoyed your time with us. My sincere apologies for the inconvenience with the bed. Our beds are particularly soft thanks to the Sofitel MyBed collection, but if you do not like this type of cushion, we will be happy to remove it for you for your next stay. I hope to welcome you back soon. Kind Regards, Emiel van Dijk, General Manager

Bonjour, thank you for your kind and honest feedback. We are sorry to hear that our water shut off affected you before leaving for the airport. This shut off was necessary as we were facing some difficulties during our spa renovation. You should have had a note in your room which should have informed you about the shut off. Pleas allow us our sincerest apologies. Every day we strive to offer our guests a magnifique experience and we would be more than happy to welcome you one more time to convince you with our service. Best Regards, Johannes Mayr, Hotel Manager
