We stayed here for a couple of nights sightseeing in Munich. The hotel was a very good choice. The room was spacious with large, comfortable beds and good provision of toiletries etc. The only slight problem was that the air conditioning was a little difficult to control and opening the window (which we prefer to do) made the room noisy because of the air con units on the roof. However this did not spoil our stay. We had a room only booking so did not try the breakfast. If you want breakfast, book it with your room otherwise it is prohibitively expensive. The hotel is about a ten minute walk from the old centre and right next to the main train station so was very well located for us.
This hotel is in an excellent location, across the road from the main train station. The hotel is quite old and steeped in Bavarian history, the old paintings in the halls, and the decor. Friendly staff and a good breakfast buffet. The restaurant serves lots of classic Bavarian food if you want to be adventurous! My single room was quite small so I think for the money I spent I could have gotten a larger room with a larger bed, however overall I enjoyed my stay and am glad I got to see a bit of old school Bavarian culture.
We stayed for a couple nights back in mid-July and chose this hotel due to its proximity to the train station (it's right across the street). It's not too far from the main pedestrian area of town, probably a 10 minute walk, which isn't too bad. However the hotel itself didn't leave me with the best feeling. It's clean, but somehow the furnishings seem cold. I'm really big on "vibe" at hotels, which sounds lame but is just something I've noticed over the years, and this didn't give me a good one. Our room was "alpine style" or something like that, and while it was large, I hated it. There were these creepy animal skull decorations on the wall above the beds, and the beds were pushed up against the wall which is one of my biggest pet peeves in hotels. The bathroom had the most awful blue tile covering every single surface, and the whole thing just felt tacky and not at all cozy and inviting. We asked to switch rooms (perhaps to one of the ones I had seen online when booking, a standard looking hotel room, without the heads on the walls), but were told they were sold out. So there I sat, staring up at those creepy heads on the wall in the most uncomfortable room I have been in in a long time. The room itself was clean, but that's about the only thing I liked. I think if we had been in a normal room it would have been okay but the alpine style just wasn't working at all. As far as the service at the front desk, it was fine, although it seemed a bit disorganized. The bellman grabbed our bags as we walked in the door and brought them up right after we checked in (perhaps a span of about 5 mins had passed), but he brought a bag that was not ours and said he was sure we had that when we came in. It was just a bit worrisome that he grabbed our bags right as we walked in and the in the 5 mins it took us to check in he managed to get another bag in with ours, especially since all he was doing when we were checking in was standing there watching us check in. Not a huge issue, but I wouldn't have wanted to leave my luggage down there for long. If you need a clean hotel in Munich near the train station, this one is fine, but I think next time we'll go with a name hotel where we can just get standard room and service.
Except for the shiny lobby the hotel is pretty old. Even the newly refurbished and therefore more expensive rooms have old bathrooms (the toilet was leaking all night making a constant noise). My bed was not very comfortable. The breakfast is a true dream. The spa is nothing to write home about.
The good points of this Hotel is the location near the train station and a small distance walking to the main place. The bad points are first that the rooms are too small , not well decorated and a bit old .The morning buffet is average you can't find everything but the essentials are available. Would recommend this Hotel for short stays and people traveling by train.
Arriving from the airport I looked across the street from the train station and there was Eden Hotel. Can't get any better than that! The front desk was very helpful and nice regarding my questions about the city center etc. Eden was within walking distance to the center and also many of the tours that I had previously booked. I like the more authentic hotels especially in Europe and this one had the charm! My room was very minimal but it was clean and the bedding was that of a 5 star! The bar was a great plus as well. The bartenders were friendly and also conversed with me since I traveled alone. Would not hesitate to come back!
Hotel is in a great location right next to the main train station, we had rooms to the side of the hotel so weren't disturbed by any street noise. Our room (522) was excellent, spacious with ample storage and a large bathroom. The only thing I would have liked was tea and coffee making facilities in the room. On check in there was a bit of a mix up, were someone else had been checked into one of our rooms (520). However this was quickly sorted out by the staff. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful for the Four days we were there. I read on previous reviews before visiting that the breakfast was really good, however I thought it was average for this standard of hotel but wouldn't put me off from staying here again.
Very good hotel in a great location right across the street from the main train station in Munich will will get you around Munich or indeed Germany 5 minutes walk to Augustine Keller where the Octoberfest is held a great night out also a 15 minute walk into the town centre with all the shops and bars and also where the Marienplatz is located decent breakfast friendly staff I would definitely return to this hotel and we are thinking of going to the Christmas markets in December so might be sooner rather than later
The is perfectly located for anyone travelling by train being just across the road. Initially I had my doubts about that but that was quickly dispelled. The only issue was actually getting in and out of the station through the throngs have somewhat dishevelled persons either smoking or drinking, but that is part of the custom. The hotel is clean, the room was a good size and the bed comfortable. Staff were pleasant and helpful when required. Breakfast was plentiful and fresh, a mixture of cereals, breads, meats, fruit and the more traditional eggs, bacon etc. The hotel is a very short walk to the main "Old Town" area. There are plenty of restaurants close by. Snacks can be purchased at the Train Station which has a vast variety of eateries and shops. Overall a very enjoyable stay and would recommend.
Across the street from the train station made it easy - we arrived and departed Munich by train. A few minutes walk to the main central city or a tram running past the front door. All staff at reception and breakfast were very helpful. Room was good and sleep great. Fantastic breakfast included. Would definitely stay again.
