La Petit Hotel was wonderful- the rooms were spotless, the continental breakfast was a delicious balance including muffins, bagels, meats, cheese, hard boiled eggs, great breads and best of all, good coffee. Our only complaint is that we would speak to one staff member in French, and to our annoyance, he would respond in English. We speak French very well but not with a Quebec accent. All staff should be advised to respond in the language in which they are addressed. This is common courtesy.

They are the only hotel out of 3 we stayed at that sent us a card and macaroons for our 40th anniversary. We were treated very well. They had almond and oat milk alternative which I greatly appreciated

Staff were very friendly and room was beautiful. We got a handwritten card as we were here for our honeymoon. A bit hard to find due to construction, but the staff are extremely helpful.

After the challenges due to road construction throughout Old Montreal, we navigated smoothly while walking. I wouldn’t advise anyone to try to drive in the city as a tourist. The hotel itself was lovely with quality comfort in our room and in the lobby.

Wonderful gem! Our room was amazing with high ceilings, exposed brick, and dormer windows. It was quiet and comfortable while being steps away from the old city. Everyone we encountered was lovely; we arrived to a box of macarons and a handwritten note which made our anniversary trip so special.

It is a fantastic location for staying in Old Montreal. Walking distance to many restaurants, shops and attractions. The street was under construction while we were staying which was very loud, but we loved everything else about our stay.

Lovely room with a very comfortable bed. A hotel with beautiful historical character but also a fresh and modern look. An excellent location in the heart of Old Montreal. Close to many great restaurants and sights. Currently (October 2025) there is a huge renovation project underway outside the hotel. We did not hear this but it does make it a bit tricky to walk about and you need to instruct taxis where to drop you off nearby. The hotel is well aware of these details and will assist you. A great little spot!

This hotel is a hidden gem. Right now it's more hidden by street construction work, which also meant noise starting before 8 a.m. Initially we were annoyed, but the staff is so nice, concerned and helpful it didn't matter so much. Breakfast includes a variety of items -- sourdough and fruit breads; bagels; yogurts; cereals; hard boiled eggs; oatmeal; orange juice; a variety of teas and coffees from espresso to cappuccino. Our room was much larger than expected, with interesting seating in chairs as well as a small sofa. The bed is high, but comfortable. Also appreciated there were places for recyclables as well as trash. The hotel's location in Old Montreal makes it easy to walk to the Basilica, the Sailor's Church and all the wonderful restaurants and shops in Old Montreal. It's directly across from the cruise ship pier. If we return to Montreal, Le Petit Hotel Vieux will be our first choice to stay in again.

Loved the hotel, staff and location, but realize there is serious street work in process now. That does distract and cause inconvenience…challenged travelers would need help with bags from taxi to entrance. Cruisers with many bags will have some difficulties.

This hotel was completely the best choice in Old Montreal. The oldest hotel on the oldest street? Hooray! The rooms had exposed rock wall, looking lovely and ancient, the shower, with multiple heads, was fun. The continental breakfast was just fine, and if there were croissants left, we were free to take them all day. The included coffee, including all the fancy types, was a nice touch. A valet met our car, helped us with our luggage and then parked our vehicle. Umbrellas were at the door, in case we needed to borrow one, and the hotel was right in the middle of all the things we wanted to see. Were we to go back to Montreal, I would want to stay no place else.
