Hotel Espresso Montreal Downtown

3.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

We stayed in one of the basic rooms. Was very clean, quiet, and well maintained. The staff was helpful with any questions we had for getting around Montreal, and all guests we spoke to were very nice. The hotel is within walking distance of many things, and there are lots of buses available for public transportation.

staff nice and friendly, near great eateries and within walking distance to sports, food, and entertainment. near metro if you want to go further

Very convenient location which is very close to multiple attractions. The hardwood floors are a very nice change of pace compared to regular carpeted hotels which are some times very stuffy and dusty.

there is a police station in front of the hotel whig makes you feel very safe. it is only 3 or 4 blocks away from downtown montreal of you walk up , and within a 5 minute walk you find restaurants and stores . it is a ten min drive from old montreal , 35 mins walking but 5 minute walk to downtown . great location

My friends and I got into the hotel at 5:30pm, it took the concierge thirty seven minutes to check us in. Then told us the room was not ready yet. We sat in the lobby for another 45 minutes before we could get into the room. Once in the room it had a very distinct smell and it wasn't pleasant, it smelt like pure marijuana smoke. There was only one bath towel in the bathroom. We were also told the buffet was complimentary for guests. So the next morning we went down to the buffet the server was very pleasant I will say that, and then he handed us a bill of $67 dollars.

200 dollar security deposit that isn't advertised.

The hotel was located fine, the views are not so good, it's either the traffic side or the train track side, if you're located a few levels up you get to see an ugly roof on the train track side, they do give free cappuccinos, perfect place if you want to be near hockey stadium. Over all I give it a 6 out of 10.

The hotel was hosting a comicon convention, so the people walking around had some pretty amazing costumes on. The staff was very helpful and gave us some great recommendations. The rooms were pretty basic, but clean and welcoming. I travel a lot and would stay here again.

We were here on a spur of the moment vacation. I saw the good reviews from the previous users and cost-wise, it was very affordable. Overall, we had a great experience. If you're looking for something fancy and done up, this isn't a fancy hotel. The ratings that are given are for price point, location and functionality. - Free espresso is phenomenal. - Free Wi-fi in the hotel is great, especially if you don't have cell coverage out of the country. - Staff was very knowledgeable, helpful and always available. Most any question that we had, they were able to either answer outright or do a quick search and assist us. - The gift shop was good and had some sundries that always come in handy. - The proximity to metro stop and bus stops – great. The express bus (747) that takes you from the airport into town and back literally drops you in front of the hotel as the first stop from the airport and is the last stop before heading to the airport going out, about 2 blocks around the corner. - The hotel location is only 2 blocks from one of the main shopping streets as well as about 1.5 blocks from the closest Metro location. It's also across the street from the police station – so very safe. - The only ding about the cleanliness was due to a circular spot of peeling wall paper and an indentation in the ceiling. - We didn't try the restaurant, with the exception for breakfast one morning and they were slammed with a large group getting ready to leave, so I can't really comment on that.

Hotel met our expectations. Room was spacious. Front desk friendly. Air-conditioner was working well. Nothing luxurious but decent. It was raining and we did not have a problem requesting for a large umbrella. Only downside ... people smoking hanging-out outside entrance.

GREAT LOCATION, NOT EXPENSIVE, VERY CLEAN, VERY NICE PARKING GARAGE BUT YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR IT.

I must admit I was a little bit skeptical on (a) the location's surrounding when I looked it up on Google Maps (Seemed a little seedy, but that was before I got there) (b) The elevator (Wasn't really clean) and (c) The hallway on the floor (Carpet was old, and the surrounding atmosphere seemed a little iffy)... HOWEVER! When I got into my room, it was really clean and large. Bathroom worked well with no problem, and it had all the things I needed. Housekeeping came in everyday, made sure everything was clean, and there were no unfortunate incidents like Housekeeping stealing something or whatnot. Front desk was also helpful whenever I needed something from them. Also, the location itself, once I got to Montreal, was actually great it was very close to downtown, and it was near the main streets where a lot of the city's action was. Overall, I thought I had a good experience at Hotel Espresso. I would recommend it to people. It was pleasant, and contributed to making my trip in Montreal a very positive one.

Great place to stay! A block from the bell center and clean rooms. would stay again in a heartbeat.

While most of Montreal seems to be bilingual, nearly every hotel worker at Hôtel Espresso spoke both English and French. Additionally, it's located in a convenient spot of the city that's not hard to find. I would definitely stay here again!!

Even though my travel mates and I had a complicated situation upon arrival (room deposits), the overall experience was great. For the complication, we only had cash and didn't want to use debit/credit cards, so making a room deposit was a bit difficult. Only until we asked to use cash did they say that it was acceptable to give them cash for the deposit, which they could have told us from the beginning. Anyway, the hotel location was perfect. Down the street, about a block away, was the metro station. We used the metro every day, which saved us a lot of money. Restaurants are nearby, as well St. Catherine, a street filled with retail stores. I would definitely book a room here again, and this time, will be prepared for any complication!

Excellent, overall, except they charge $1 to make a local call from your room, which seemed quite steep. It was snowing, and I wanted to order food from a nearby restaurant for delivery. I'm from the States, so I had my mobile set to airplane mode to avoid overseas roaming. If you don't need to use the in-room phone, the hotel is 10/10. If so, it is a 9/10. Still, you can't beat the value for the location and staff courtesy.

The location is pretty convenient. Love the fact that it has a garage. It's at a quieter part of the city so that was a plus for us.

Excellent hotel, located in the heart of Montreal. Very close to all Montreal has to offer!!!!

This is a very clean, well taken care of hotel. The location is perfect if you need to be downtown. The price could not be beat

Hotel was ok for the price, location was good but it could have been cleaner. There was parking on site for a fee.
