Too bad we had to give this place a star. They sure don't deserve one Stay away from here !!!! It all began at the check-in counter that was manned by 3 girls that couldn't even begin to think for themselves and had absolutely NO personality. The one that was checking us in spent a little time on the computer only to inform us that it wouldn't accept my wife's Visa. We told her that we weren't paying with the card, we only used it to hold the room and that we were going to pay cash. A few more minutes on the computer (and a secret conference with her 2 co-workers) and she informed us once again that the computer would not accept my wife's card. My wife asked me to go retrieve my card from our vehicle. I went outside to get my card. Upon my return our check in clerk came out of a back office to inform us that we would need to pay cash to get our room for the night !!!! I asked if there was a pool available and was told (rather rudely) that they had no pool. I then asked about their breakfast and was told (again) that there was NO breakfast. I inquired as to why and was told that this was an extended stay hotel and there were facilities in our room to cook our own breakfast !!! I guess extended stay patrons don't have the privilege of swimming or enjoying a simple continental breakfast. How cheap can these people be ?? Finally arrived at our room put the key in the door and had to ram the door with my shoulder to get it open. It was badly bent. After unpacking it was beginning to get cold in the room. I turned the thermostat down ( there was a small sign above the thermostat stating that it would take the air conditioner at least 15 minutes to readjust). After an hour of further freezing we finally had to shut the unit off. Then as it got hot in the room we had to turn it back on. Did this 2 - 3 times during the night. It was the WORST bed we had ever slept on. May as well put a slab of cement in the room and put a blow up mattress on it. Terrible. This room was referred to as a suite ! Ha. I've seen pig sty's bigger than this. What a joke... The final straw was when we left the room the following morning to go retrieve some food at the nearest restaurant, the house maid passed us in the hall, turned around and inquired as to whether we were leaving or not !! Like she couldn't wait to get in our room. Believe me we were happy when we did leave ! We normally stay at the LaQuinta chain of hotels and will do so from now on. They are a much better facility AND at a lot lower rate. This place stinks.
If you're looking for a place to stop on the way to the beach for a great deal then this is it! :) It also accommodates a great deal of military due to the surroundings which makes it that much more perfect for us! The room we stayed in had a full kitchenette setup perfect to make meals if you are staying long term. The dishes are provided and they even have a dishwasher. The lending closet would make it perfect to borrow things from for meals you what to make a certain way or even to play some games with family or friends! :) You won't regret your stay here. Also, the staff here is very friendly which means a lot in this day and time!
We were on the second floor and the room was nice and comfortable.....plenty of utensils......the only downside thing was the sound from water pipes when the showers were on in other units.....otherwise no prob
Super friendly staff at the front desk made our stay here wonderful. The facility itself is nice but the staff are outstanding. Never stayed at a Candlewood before but would do it again without hesitation.
The front desk worker was outstanding and the room was great as well. I would recommend this hotel to everyone coming into Montgomery, Alabama. The location is easy to access from Interstate 85 and there is a Cracker Barrel close by if you want to eat Breakfast before you hit the road.
Booked our room at the last minute on Priceline. Got a decent deal. Room was clean and bed was nice. loved the kitchen!!! Be sure too book exactly which room you want or you will be give a "standard room" - which means, whatever is left over of a single queen bed.
I am an emergency services canine handler. On a recent trip I booked by telephone, advised the clerk taking my call that was traveling with my canine partner and checked in with the same clerk two days later. I was never advised that there would be a pet fee of $75 assessed but found out during checkout. The manager never contacted me nor did IHG ever respond to me with a follow up within the time line that they established. NEVER stay here. They may stick it to you as well with an unposted fee.
The room had a faint woodsy scent upon entering which was not overpowering or bad but rather, pleasant. The bathroom had a spacious entryway and the room was spacious in general. There was a nice kitchen will full-size refrigerator, cabinets, a sink with dish rags ready to use, and a neat dining table/desk combo (a dining chair on one side, and a rolling office chair on the other side). There was even a corkboard with helpful hotel info and extra tacks to boot. Any noise from the highway right next to Candlewood was not memorable at all. I do agree that any *loud* noises from adjacent rooms do carry through the walls but for my (1) night stay, that was few and far between and a non-issue. The only issue I had (but did not take the opportunity to report to guest services) was that a couple of the pillowcases had a small dime sized soiling with a redish/brown tint (see pic). The front reception staff were kind , especially Miranda upon check-out. Very nice and comfy atmosphere!
Stayed here while attending 2-week training course at Maxwell AFB. The base is approximately 20 minutes away. I will start with the good as there are far fewer of those than bad. First, my room and all areas that I visited were very clean. The room was fairly large and had a full size refrigerator, microwave etc…The only other good I found was Miranda who worked behind the desk, she was incredible! Professional, friendly, and would offer to fix anything within her control. The bad, while noise from outside the hotel was not bad (or maybe I didn’t notice it because it was so noisy inside), inside, you could tell when someone moved in or out above you because you could hear them moving. Around you, you heard everything your neighbor was doing from watching TV to flushing toilets, hear the door from 5 rooms away open and close shut, yep. Person 3 rooms away that brought their dog with them, wanna know when they left for work, no problem you heard the dog start barking and continue to do so until they returned (this only happened 4 days), 2 doors down and across the hall a lady has a birthday party for her child and 7 other kids, you guessed it, you heard it. If you are looking for a peaceful place to stay, keep looking this was not it. If you need a long-term place this could work for you, just bring ear plugs.
Great personable service. The staff all are friendly and courteous. You can tell the guest focus is far better than other places i have stayed in the area. They are quick to correct any issues that you bring to their attention and are ,in my mind, over apologetic if any issues arise. I would travel many miles to stay here if I am anywhere near the area for business. A big thank you to the staff and management for the Home away from home for me. You can see the pride they have in taking care of every guest that stays with them.
