My husband and I stay in this resort once a year for many years. The setting is beautiful and the staff are friendly and accommodating. Each unit has a full kitchen. It is about a 10 minutes drive to Ocean Avenue. The best view of the coastline is from the main building cocktail lounge.

Awesome what spectacular place...we will come back when we can stay longer. We were on quick business trip and squeezed in a night here for fun with my wife. The views are amazing hard to beat. The staff was very professional and helpful.

This property is breathtaking -- high up overlooking the sea. What could be better. The bell staff were amazing -- helpful at every moment. The front desk staff need some work -- as do the servers in the restaurant for breakfast -- but the food, once it came out - was great. It just took a really long time - even for us to get coffee. Our room was nice -- on the smaller side and with a small bath -- but again, the views from the balcony were stunning. This is a place I would visit again.

The Hyatt Carmel Highlands Inn never disappoints. The location is perfect for spending days in Big Sur and Monterey, Carmel by the Sea is fabulous for some beach time, restaurants and shopping. We have been several times and each time we wonder why we g=have taken so long to return.

We stayed here for one night on our way up the coast. I wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel is beautiful. Our room had a fireplace and the beds were comfortable. The grounds are amazing and the pool looked pretty but we didn't use it. There were views of Big sur from the windows. I wish we had a few days there to explore more. The restaurant was good also but very upscale.

You start the day being woken by the sounds or elephant seals. The views from the restaurant are breathtaking. You can sit on your patio or at the bar to watch the sun go down. This is a good jump point.

First let me state that I love fog. This weekend trip up the California coast did not disappoint. The Hyatt is in a fantastic location (little far from Big Sur) right in Carmel, the service is phenomenal and so is the staff. Easy access to Monterey and Point Lobos State Reserve (for early morning trail walks). Rooms could use renovations.

We pulled into the valet and were ignored, but then another car parked next to us and 2 valet helped them, while blocking our door so my husband could not get out of the car. I had to greet the valet and ask where to check in and he was very short in his response to me. Once we were at the front desk, I asked the man at the front desk if they had an itinerary for the property (ie restaurant locations, pool, suggestions for food on the area). He said “well there isn’t much going on, there is the restaurant but nothing else”. Soon to find out the next day, they had a sunset bar with music the night before. Bummer. We had to carry our luggage up 2 flights of stairs because there was no elevator. Once we arrived to our room, it was very outdated and the room had a musky smell. The main floor was dark and dated. The long stairs to the bedroom was interesting, but sucked to carry our luggage up another flight of stairs. I will say the view was pretty and the sunset was gorgeous. We were happy to only be staying 1 night at the Highlands Inn. Doubtful we will return, especially with the other beautiful hotels and BB’s in the area.

If you don't mind spending the money for a special occasion, this is the place to go. The rooms we had were facing the ocean and had a beautiful view over the trees down tot he waves. Our rooms had a whirlpool type tub that's perfect for two.

The perfect getaway with the most wonderful view of the Pacific and staff who are courteous and knowledgeable, food that is exceptional can be found at Hyatt Carmel Highlands Inn. We have returned 15 consecutive years and plan on coming back!
