My hubby and I stayed here for 2 nights. We were quickly greeted by the front desk and checked in. All of the front desk people are very friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean and spacious with the usual amenities, fridge, microwave, coffee maker and blow dryer (it's in the wall)(I couldn't find it until the next day after I had the front desk give me another one...we were very tired!😀! The free breakfast had the usual fare with a surprise of cheese omelettes. They were yummy. For the price and conveniences, we will be back....oh, they also have freshly made chocolate chip cookies every afternoon...they got me at the cookies 😁.

I'd read some reviews that had alarmed me about noise from he railroad tracks which are directly across the street. I called them midday and asked if my room could be located in a quiet area, as I was arriving late and getting up early. They were very accommodating and helpful, and the room I got was VERY! quiet: no noise from either the railroad or Cal. Hwy. 99 (I think) on the other side of the motel. I didn't hear any noise from other rooms, outside by the pool, etc.. - so I was pleased.

I stayed here in June, 2017. On the plus side, all of the staff members were very nice and helpful. Unfortunately located just off freeway exit on one side (with 18 wheel trucks racing by all night), and 24 hour main train freight line on other. Had booked in advance for three nights; ready to leave after first sleepless night. Left at 4:10 AM on my last day there. Will not even mention all other problems, but after I returned and filled out a survey for Marriott, i received an apology from them (but not a word from the hotel). In addition, notice the updated hotel listing.

The hotel is updated with new sensors and furnitures. The hotel offers free breakfast, both hot food and bread, fruits, etc. the downside though is the frontdesk. More training for dealing and welcoming guests will suffice

Room was large and nicely decorated. Crisp sheets . Desk chair and a club chair. Large bathroom. Microwave. Refrigerator. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was awful. Omelets like rubber . Bacon limp, uncooked.

It was definitely my fault! I did not read the Tripp Advisor reports. As a Platinum Marriott member I took it for granted that I would get a decent room. No such luck. Right on the train tracks, with the thunderous noise all night. The only pleasure I had was waiving to the train engineers each time. Most of all, the insincere comment from management, about how, next time they'll put me into a quieter room is very hollow. There will not be a next time. The use of ear-plugs is cute but useless.

Ok place.... Very noisy. Train going by every hour or so right outside the window. Walls are very thin. Used the earplugs they provided and finally got a little sleep. Very conveniently located, but should really think about some soundproofing.

We spend several days a year in California's San Joaquin Valley. The Fairfield Inn in Salida is always a pleasant place to stay. The staff is efficient and friendly, the rates are reasonable, and there seems to be security.

Best thing about the property is the price. It won't put a large dent in your wallet and includes a full breakfast (eggs, sausage, cold cereal, fruit, pastries, yogurt, juice, milk and coffee). Very courteous front desk staff. Adjoins a Denny's so meal needs can be met 24/7. Rooms have a small refrigerator and microwave. And on the downside, you can count on noise from Hwy 99 and nearby trains unless you have the window HVAC on full blast (quieter than most but still it is a window HVAC). Maintenance needs a little help. Walls were scuffed/marked. Bathroom door was stained as was the combo tub/shower. This property is not the Ritz. But guests don't pay Ritz prices.

Arrived fairly late to enjoy the room much. Just to sleep, eat, and be on our way. Here for a wedding in the area. Felt the hotel and room was comparable to others in the area. Nice enough room with the basic items found in hotels these days. Breakfast was the usual fare as well. The one thing that does stand out were the trains through the night. Did it bother us? Alittle but not that much.
