They were very helpful and gave outstanding service to my friends and I. I forgot the gentleman name but he was great! He was there the morning we checked in. I will stay here agin when I come back.

This was my first time in South Beach and I was staying here with my aunt, cousin, sister and grandmother before our girls trip. The location is perfect and you can walk in any direction and find shopping one way or the other is the beach. The staff was absolutely awesome and with it being hot they were always asking if we would like a bottle of water. I would stay here again.

It has been 29 years since I experienced South Beach and wanted to show my daughter and neices a great place to visit. The Essex House was perfectly located. It is just a short 1/2 block west of Ocean Drive and the Beach entrance. The hotel is quiet, clean and marvelous. The staff was so sweet and courteous. Being the guest of the hotel, we are able to use the amenities (bar (sports and outside) of the Clevelander Hotel just across the alley from Essex. If you want a quiet and tranquil hotel stay here, because I will.

4 stars? Where?? Very outdated building. The elevator reminded me of a scene from a horror movie. Takes 5 mins for water to get hot to shower and then gets cold again in the middle of your shower while in. The building is old. You can hear your roommate next door. The pool is a joke! The only positive here was that the staff was friendly and the continental breakfast was just ok. Not sure why this house has a 4 star rating and all these over rated reviews. This review is the unbiased truth.

The room we stayed at was super clean. The staff was friendly.

Met some very nice people at the hotel, is a great location for walking to beach, shops and places to eat or just people watching.

Value vs comfort. It is among the cheaper and affordable spots this close to SOBE but they could careless at check-in. She was as rude and disinterested as you can be. We weren't really in a rush but were given a hard time because we were trying to get into our prepaid rooms at 3pm vs 4pm...the rooms were ready but just told to wait. There is a tiny bar in the hotel...that was closed at the time. So we wanted a need and were told we couldn't drink there. Very accomodating and way to go the extra mile front end staff.

Everyone was very friendly. The rooms are modern and the hotel is very convenient to everything to do in South Beach.

Great hotel, especially for the price, I will come back again. Very comfy!

Great. No problems. Friendly staff. Convenient to beach .

I enjoyed my stay at Essex House Hotel – the hotel itself was nice and clean. Most of the hotels in South Beach are a lot alike but Essex House had something different and that was The Clevelander, which we were able to go to, free of charge. We went on the first night and had a blast. The hotel itself was very clean and the staff was so nice – they accommodated us with whatever we asked for. The only issue I ran into more than twice within 5 minutes was my room key not working – however, they fixed it and I never ran into the issue again. Checking in and out was easy. I'd definitely recommend the hotel and would stay here again.

Had a great experience. My only complaint was that our initial room was quite small and had a musty smell to it however we were moved to a larger room upon notifying the staff. Great customer service.

Only complaint is that the walls are paper thin and we could hear the people next to us partying all night until 5 a.m. But it is South Beach so maybe this is to be expected. Great free breakfast with lots of variety of beverages, pastries and other items. Staff was very responsive and polite. Pool is nice although small. Location in the heart of South Beach, overall would recommend.

We were in town just for a few days...the hotel has an excellent location and great staff...very attentive and helpful! Make sure you stop at their bar and try one of their margaritas...delicious!

We had a pleasant stay at the Essex Hotel. The staff was very friendly.

Excellent staff but the plumbing is outdated. I got scalded in the shower when the toilets flushed in other rooms.Location is excellent for going to the beach.

This hotel is just 2 blocks away from the Ocean drive, which makes it very convenient. The rooms and the hallways smell really awful, especially if the A/C is turned off. The bathroom is very tiny, and the floor is tilted a bit. If you have a car, consider parking it in a neighboring parking garage, because the hotel provides a special rate which is cheaper. We choose this hotel for the location, and did not expect the rooms to be great anyways.

The room was very average. The room was very small, no space to move around at all. The room had a funny smell. The bathroom was small and very old. The toilet was old and outdated. The bathtub didn't drain very well at all so every time I took a shower it felt like I was in a pool by the end of it because the tub was full of water that was up to my calfs. I know this wasn't a New problem and it's a shame that they haven't done anything to fix it. Great staff.

We stayed here for the location--right off Ocean Drive and easy walking to shops and restaurants to the north around 17th and Lincoln streets. The hotel is small, so our standard room was also small, but the bathroom was surprisingly large and well-appointed. The bath products are great. Overall it's a stylish boutique hotel without the hoards of tourists, which is just what we prefer. Despite the noise of the parties outside (we stayed during the weekend of the BCS football championship), the windows are good quality so most sound was deadened. We still needed earplugs, however, because the doors to the rooms are thin and transfer sound from the hallway. (I'll never understand how hotel designers/managers think that saving money on cheap doors is a good idea. I'd prefer tile instead of marble in the bathroom!)

Essex House provided great get-away lodging for dad & son night in South Beach. Comfortable, quiet and outstanding location. Thanks
