There was plenty of street parking around and near the hotel. Short stroll into the CBD or just hop on one of the trams which come very frequently. Couple of hiccups with customer service upon arrival. We checked in close to 3pm and the lady at reception barely said much to us. She got me to fill in a form and then proceeded to take my credit card details for security. Then just gave us our entry card and just continued with something else. If you have been to this hotel before, you would know that the lifts are down the corridor, pass a few existing rooms towards the right. Didn't take us long to locate it but some directions would have been great. When we reached our room, the door was left wide open and we won't sure what was happening, double checked the room number before walking inside to find the hotels maintenance staff bent over on the floor trying to fix the bed side table. He had his tools just scattered across the floor and pretty much said to us "oh checking in, I got a call to fix this". We just sat there in silence for about 10-15minutes before he tells us, he doesn't have the right parts to fix this, and said he will be right back. Left all his belongings scattered on the floor. Another 5-10minutes later we realised he won't be back anytime soon. We just quickly scanned the room and noticed they didn't even give us our champagne on arrival (booked via redballoons). We just took our bags and left. Came back around 10pm and the champagne was still not there. I had to call the front office to request it and to also ask for details regarding breakfast as it was also included but not a word of information was given to us regarding times etc. But regardless, the rooms were nice and clean. Loved the spa tub! 2 minutes walk from the hotel is a McDonald's and a 7 eleven is just across the road. Or you can just jump on a tram to the city. Overall, we would stay again but hoping customer service improves in the future.
Stayed in Melbourne for the Boxing Day Cricket and spent 4 nights at the Royce. Friendly staff who accommodated an early check in. Ideally situated 10 yards from a Tram stop (not noisy) and then only 3-4 stops into the centre of Melbourne. Several different tram routes there so trams every couple of minutes. Lovely room with separate living area. A short walk to the MCG thro' the Park / Gardens. Nice bar / dining rooms with live, but not loud, sports coverage. Ideal....
We have stayed at the Royce 6 times over the years. It's always our first choice. Service, decor, comfort and location are all great. The dish restaurant is very nice but also close to others such as The Point and Bistro Gitan. Parks, lake and trams in immediate vacinity. Love it
The hotel is located on the tram line, close to the park and away from the general noise of the large city. Rooms are very comfortable they have tea available but a smalll charge for coffee. Staff were helpful and when you needed an adjustment for or in your room they were very prompt and helpful. One staff was very helpful with a computer issue and a James was always helpful with our needs on this stay. Bar and restaurant on the site and a few convinces close to the hotel. It was very pleasant and would definitely stay again.
When ever we go into the city we always stay at the Royce. It is a pleasant walk or a short tram ride to the city. The rooms are comfortable and the staff are ever so friendly and helpful. When we have eaten in house the food has been delicious. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
We've stayed here previously and thought the location was good. Convenience was our main want. This time we enjoyed the convenience but thought the service could have been better. More attention to detail. e.g the coffee machine was dirty. The few cookies were a $ charge item ( really? ) We always speak to staff members no matter what their task; Front desk staff were very amiable, so were the cleaners, but restaurant staff were either unavailable or invisible. We brought to the front desk staffs attention a noisy non-guest conducting business in the restaurant at breakfast time and the front desk Manager did ask them to leave. But they should never have been allowed in, or been noticed by the ( invisible and deaf? ) restaurant staff, and evicted.
Stayed 3 nights for the Aussie Open tennis Location was good if you don't need to be at the CBD.Tram straight up to Fed Square.Do not disturb button needs clear sign Breakfast buffet was great, though real coffee was extra.
The room was amazing, there was a slight hiccup as we were given the wrong room when we first arrived but the young man at the desk gave us the right room. Bed was huge, could get lost in it! Welcome on the TV was a surprise. View was lovely. Could see Fireworks from the balcony. Easy enough to get into town - roads were closed so the walk back was long. But the room was just incredible. Thank you very much, we intend to be back.
This was my fourth stay at the Royce melbourne and its probably my favourite hotel. It's foyer is boutique and beautiful with the magnificent staircase. The rooms are lovely I can't fault a thing! The service has always been impeccable. Location is great a short tram ride or walk to the heart of the city shops, restaurants, bars, clubs and melbourne icons Fed square and Flinders street station. We had dinner at dish restaurant which was absolutely divine.
A good location via a short tram. Room was average but clean and large due to an upgrade. Staff very pleasant but due to issues with the hotels in house movies being down and very poor food I would not stay there again
