My partner and I visited for a week in early November 2017, on the all inclusive package (highly recommended). This is a really excellent resort (don't believe any of the negative reviews you read!). From the beautiful location with ample areas for relaxation and photo opportunities, to the genuinely friendly and helpful staff, to the excellent choice of restaurants, food and cocktails, this is a well-managed and likeable resort. Due to a delay in our flight we only arrived at 23h30 but were greeted with a friendly face and shown to our room. A light supper for 2 was provided because we had missed dinner. The deluxe room was perfectly sized, with a big tub and shower, and a balcony overlooking one of the pools. There are a number of activities which can be tried, like a 1 hour trip on the glass-bottomed boat, snorkelling, paddling for one or two and couples pedal-boating, not to mention the aqua-aerobics in the main pool. Food choice is varied and you will definitely be able to put together a tasty meal from the choice of starters, mains and dessert at the Edgewater restaurant. There are more than enough drinks options on the all inclusive package to try a new cocktail every day. The Plantation restaurant appeals to a more discerning palate and although you receive a credit on your meal you will definitely need to pay in a variable amount should you wish to have a full meal. I honestly could not find reasonable fault with any aspect of Outrigger Mauritius. The staff are all of similar high quality and thus it is hard to single any of them out for special praise. All in all it was a great island getaway and I'd definitely consider returning to Outrigger Mauritius..

Can really recommend this fantastic vacation place. Service is really good, beach fantastic, food nice, snorkeling good and nice Bar Blu which was excellent for sundowners. Buffet provided good choices of high quality food for every taste.

We stayed on an all inclusive basis in a beachfront deluxe room which was extremely tranquil with beautiful views of the ocean and the reef. Certainly recommend these rooms over and above those in the main hotel. The hotels advertises several restaurants and bars but here comes the crunch. The crab shack was NOT all inclusive and you were given a fixed allowance to go towards a very expensive menu. The same applied to the Edgwater and Plantation Club. The only places therefore to enjoy a fully all inclusive menu was at the main Mercado restaurant and snacks at the Bar Bleu. The Mercado was a bit like a cattle market. On the positive side, the majority of staff were extremely pleasant and helpful with a special mention for the Bar Bleu and beach and poolside waiters. The beach is protected from waves by the reef but there is a very strong current running from left to right due to a breach in the the reef several miles to the east. Consequently swimming was near impossible and all you could do was drift down with the current.

We stayed at the Outrigger for a week in October on an all inclusive package. The hotel definitely has the potential to do better and be a 5* standard but sadly they were lacking in a few areas. We had such a lovely time which is why I feel guilty about giving 3* but the issues we had really negatively impacted the enjoyment of the holiday. I'll go through the pros and cons and hopefully we'll have a better experience if we were to return! Pros: -Lovely pool, gardens, beach. They were all tidy and clean (apart from the poolside bathrooms which need renovating desperately.) The beach goes on for ages and it's lovely to walk along. The ocean is really clear and the house reef is alright to see some colourful fish. -Huge rooms and bathrooms. We stayed in a standard room and it was very spacious and light, the layout is good and the bathrooms (and bath!!!) are perfect. I was really impressed and the pictures don't do it justice. -All Inclusive/food beat all expectations. We're vegetarian and honestly we couldn't understand any of the complaints! Lots of amazing curries, all different every day. Good European options and desserts! Lots of good coffees and cocktails all included in AI and we never got bored of the food. This is definitely Outrigger's strong point. If we go back, it'll be on this basis ;) Edgewater was also good and worth the visit. - Cleaners were all good and polite too. -Minibar mostly included and refreshed every day! This was a huge plus. Cons: - A few areas in the hotel needs renovation and updating, especially toilet areas around the pool/Edgewater. -Shower in the bathroom kept changing temperature throughout the stay. No idea why? -The biggest issue of our stay and the main reason for giving such a low rating is down to the service. I had seen a few complaints about it previously but honestly I was incredulous to how bad it actually was. I've never experienced anything like it. All week it took forever to get anyone's attention to order drinks, then we'd have to wait half a decade to receive them. It gets frustrating. Maybe it's because we were on AI? I hope not. Really, I can't articulate how bad it was. Staff had no idea at the bar, seemed to be no manager or supervisors to give direction? Same issue at Mercado, staff running around with no clue, not remembering drinks, not asking how everything was. I'd never normally complain about this sort of this but it was actually so, so bad. The thing that really ruined it was the last day, we decided to eat at Edgewater for lunch, we both ordered starters, mains and desserts. We ended up waiting nearly two hours just for the main. Then we waited further for the rest. Drinks were forgotten, no apology. It was very bizarre. No one had a clue what was going on. Really felt like we'd wasted our last day of the holiday just waiting around for food. It definitely left a bad taste and I couldn't justify giving a higher rating after the whole service experience. It doesn't seem like a one off either, you need to employ (better?) managers in each area to forsee the service or this will continue. The staff need direction and some extra training wouldn't go amiss. I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending the outrigger based on these issues.

This is my second visit to this hotel. The children really enjoy going there as they love the swimming pool. The hotel itself is a beautiful place. The only thing that need to be look after is that the buffet should add more choices for children. The children did not like the buffet as they did have any choices. They filled their stomach with deserts. We really enjoyed our weekend there. The glassbottom was breathtaking. A big thanks to the staffs who were very helpful during our stay.

The overall experience was good, however there were things that I would expect of a five star and at that price. First staff were amazing, friendly and helpful. I would give the staff five stars. The food was good, just a bit confusing. So for breakfast on the All Inclusive you can go to the Mercado or the edgewater however you must book in advance, please book because it is much better quality good than the buffet. Lunch you can do the mercado on weekdays you are given a ticket and can only choose one dish so no mix and matching from various stations, bar blu is very nice for pizza and sandwiches for lunch or dinner. Edgewater no reservations needed for lunch also that is the best choice. For dinner please book in advance edgewater. Do not bother wasting money on the Wednesday night Mauritian dinner as it isn’t worth the money. We tried the crab shack which was also well worth the money. We had lobster night at the plantation club which was excellent. We did upgrade for a day to use the plantation club and found that to be a waste of money. The one thing that really made the rating as low as it was, was the drinks situation. It’s an all inclusive which each bar serves different drinks in the AI menu which means u need to double check every time. Also at one place the dodo beer in on the AI however they tend to tell you that u need to go get it yourself at the bar and then you will get charged so please be careful. The spa was lovely a little over priced. Other neighbouring hotel offer laundry service for a set price per week, while the Outrigger doesn’t one load is very expensive so bring enough clothing, there isn’t very much night life or social things to do this is very much a solitaire vacation. I highly recommend going on the glass bottom boat which is free. Also book day trips out or hire a taxi for a full day and explore the beautiful island.

Overall our experience was amazing: good food, clean place, friendly staff always willing to help, beautiful and cosy room, the spa was just wow and awesome pool. One thing that disturbed me was that the cocktails were not well presented and served in plastic glasses. But anyway that's just a detail. Another thing which I found little bit disturbing according to me is that at night the waiters wear sandals and almost everyone working there too which I find not really classy for a five star resort. Also the door opening on the terrace of our room was not opening and we could not really appreciate the view of the sea from our room. Anyway, I really enjoyed my stay there. For honeymooners Outrigger is the ideal place. :-)

As a couple in our eighties we were delighted when our son arranged our holiday at Outriggers. We felt totally safe and loved the informality of this 5* hotel. The range of eating places was impressive and the grounds immaculate but we would have appreciated more lighting at night. We took full advantage of the activities on offer and would particularly recommend the glass bottom boat. We thoroughly enjoyed our fantastic stay at Outriggers.

Actually, we were check-out today our experiment in outrigger resort was bad and we will talk about what we like and don't like. we like Concierge services especially Mr.Robby and Mr.alzubair and all the staff they welcome us from the car once we reached there and help us for anything we need it outside the resort also we like the beach and Main Swimming pool and Restaurant Mercado variety food and the staff are friendly. I don't like the way of the check-in after we took the Deluxe Double Room with Sea View (it was not directly to the beach) they call me back to complete another two steps i told them just arrived from very long flight 12 hours and this is not good way you have to wait until tomorrow to discuss about that. the resort very big and The Mercado Restaurant and kids club very far from the room also in the kids club so hard to book and find baby sitter when i want to reserve baby sitter i have to do that before 24 hours and they gave me form to fill it and didn't mention there is cancellation policy after when we want to cancel , they want to charge us!! we don't like other restaurants the food and the staff weren't friendly. the room furniture old and does not comfortable. i made my booking from booking.com and i mentioned I am 9th anniversary marriage and we put request to remove all alcohol drinks from mini bar ,Unfortunately they didn't anything. the toilet very small and the shower without door !!! i dont like the resort design the facilities very far from each other like fitness center and spa and swimming pool. the last but not least they preauthrized amount in my credit card and during checking-out they didn't release the transaction moreover we asked her many times is there anything you need before we leave she didn't mention that and till now no body pick the phone and has answer about my issue?! generally I don't recommend this resort and I impossible to come back again.

Beautiful beach, lovely covered cabins to relax, amazing sunsets, you can swim on the beach, service very friendly. spacious room with kind of jacousy in it and balcony (double room) , excellent beds. excellent buffet restaurant for Breakfast and dinner. We do not have half Pension so dinner has its price but for 1850 - its worth its price. As you can choose from about 6 buffets. The 2 other a la carte restaurants are pricey, we ate in the one on the beach- very fine though to be honest also 5 star price a bit exaggerated. Whatelse? The whole hotel is spacious and has a lovely architecture. We loved the Outrigger in Hawai and we sure love this one. Just excellent!! Thanks for the great stay and hospitality.
