Not as good as other Quality Inns. Staff was helpful when TV wouldn't work. Breakfast was quite minimal and had only 2% milk. There was no fruit and only 2 types of cereal and they were hard to dispense. Bread selection was poor and the peanut butter was an off brand.
We enjoyed a good night's rest at a very reasonable price! Our room was very clean. Wi-fi and breakfast were included in the price. Wish we would have packed our swimsuits as the pool and hot tub looked inviting!
Jeff at the front desk was fabulous! He saw we were elite members and gave us the best deal possible and the walk in rate was cheaper than online. I told him "thank you it looks like you did all you could for us". He simply replied "it's my job". This hotel had some "iffy reviews" but when we walked in our room was a very pleasant surprise, everything was updated, nicely appointed and clean! I could tell they are putting some money into this place, and I wouldn't hold any reviews from prior to this year against them. Our bed was clean and comfy, with new bedding. we had a fridge and microwave. The pool and hot tub both worked and were very relaxing. We were the only people who used the pool that evening and Jeff even came in and asked if everything was ok and if we wanted the lights turned on since the natural light was fading, and the room was getting dark, thanks Jeff! The only thing was the pool floors are going to be reglazed, it sounded like it might be done soon, so if pool and hot tub are important I would call the hotel directly. There's a nice breakfast area with looked like there would be hot and cold choices, we did not eat there, we never make breakfast, but I think anyone could find something, from what I saw out. There is a washer dryer and a couple common areas for a family to use if you wanted. We feel it was very reasonable and have paid more for much less. I don't believe they have an elevator for this 2 story hotel so if first floor is needed you may want to ask. I just couldn't believe there weren't more people staying there. I really hope this review is helpful, and if so please let me know. There is 1 other thing I'm recommending that all hotels with pools should have an adult time after 8 or 9 and should be open later, we had no problems here with children. We are older and not traveling with kids and really hate to hear Marco Polo all evening and share a hot tub like it's a kiddie pool, it didn't happen here but it has other places.
This motel was formerly a Days Inn. It looks like the conversion to a Quality Inn was somewhat recent. A sign out front advertises newly renovated rooms. And they were (at least the one in which we stayed was). There was new paint, new carpet and new tile on the floor in the bathroom and around the sink. Before painting, however, there was no real effort to patch or repair the walls. Similarly, there was caulk missing in places around the bath tub, the toilet seat was very loose and badly needed to be re-anchored, and the wall beneath the air conditioner/heater was crumbling a bit. It had not been painted. Additionally was there a burned out light bulb in one lamp. The mattress was also pretty well worn and I did not sleep particularly well on it. All of that notwithstanding, I still give the Quality Inn three stars – an average rating. The new carpet was clean, as were the towels and sheets on the bed. The staff was helpful and the breakfast generally acceptable. There was, however, no yogurt, which, given all of the motels in which I stay, was a bit unusual. I have never spent the night in Grinnell before and, while I do have some complaints that I mentioned to the staff in the morning, I am willing to give this motel another try in the future.
Clean, quiet and a decent breakfast. Eggs could have been better, but enough choices that it really didn't matter. Had a couch in the room which made a nice place to sit and relax. Only stayed one night this time but will return next month. The fact that I am returning says a lot.
the motel was an older remodel and the room was (1 king bed) medium size but the bathroom very small, the kind you need to back into. the place was fairly clean but the breakfast was not very good-- coffee ??, eggs ??, sausage ??, only apples for fruit, and of course waffles. i think the price for what you receive was a bit high but that is to be expected as the Pella tulip festival was on.
When driving across the country, we look for decent affordable places to stop overnight. Here are the reasons we liked this hotel: comfy bed, windows open, very quiet area (no loud trucks), half a mile from 80 so it's far enough not to hear traffic but very close, sink outside of bathroom, indoor pool, smells clean (no smoking and no pets). It has direct tv (some channels grainy), breakfast is decent but other Quality Inns have a little more variety. Overall, a place I would stop again
just deceided to stop for the day, the location was easy find. Our room was about twice the size that we expected and everything was great including breakfast the next morning. The staff, including Jeff Patel, were really great. Will be staying there again. The price lower than expected.
This Quality Inn as nicer than we anticipated. When we travel we book with Priceline using the Express Deals so we don't know which hotel we'll get. Rooms appeared to have been upgraded as furnishings looked new. Plenty of room with two double beds, desk area, sink separate from tub/toilet area. Breakfast included - always can find something to eat. Right off I80 so convenient. Would definitely stay again.
Love the family friendly atmosphere indoor pool and hot tub free breakfast and how courteous and helpful the entire staff has been to me and my family and the cleanliness of the remodeled rooms is superb overall really nice place to stay
