Quality Inn & Suites2.5 out of 5.0

The sign out front said recently renovated and it was. Love the colors and appointments. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We also like that the sink was separated from the shower and toilet. Breakfast was the typical hotel breakfast but still good.
Our room was recently remodelled, bery spacious, reasonably priced, and very comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was typical Comfort fare, but fresh and tasty as expected. The check in and the k out processed went very quickly. Can't ask for more than that.
This is a typical Quality Inn located near I-80 and about two miles south of Grinnell. The big parking lot with no plantings (and somewhat garish colors) make it unattractive from the outside. But our king bed in an adequate-sized room was comfortable and there’s some upgraded decor. The room was clean with a color scheme that was also a bit bright. The bath was somewhat small, but the vanity was outside the bath, which we like. The friendly desk clerk noted our room preferences and made dining recommendations. We followed his advice and had a good dining experience. Breakfast, however, was the same Quality Inn fare (not very good quality) we’ve grown tired of.
Easy to find right off the I-80. Clean rooms, comfy beds, indoor pool, hot breakfast, quick & easy check-in, friendly helpful staff. Walmart and Pizza Ranch down the street if you're looking for dining options or to restock your car of snacks.
Jeff at the front desk is top notch! Very quick check in and great service. The pillows are awesome. The pool and hot tub need some serious work. Jeff informed me this will happen in mid August. I have stayed at this Quality Inn twice in the past three weeks. We stayed on the second floor the first time and the first floor the second time. The first time we had a king bed and 2 double beds this time. Wow, what a difference. The king bed was super and the doubles need to be replaced. The beds are not comfortable at all. Price. The first stay we paid $18 less than the second stay. Both times we stayed on a Monday's in July. I do not understand. Overall, the hotel is nice and clean. The staff was great. We will stay here again and recommend this hotel to others. Can't wait to use the new pool and hot tub. We hope the beds get a serious overhaul. Great staff.
When arriving at the hotel, we did not have reservations. I needed a room for my family of 6. After some initial conversations, Jeff did a tremendous service to us by lowering the price of the suite substantially. After arriving to the room, we were very pleasantly surprised by the size of the "room." We had plenty of space for all of us to spread out. It had, two tvs, fridge, two sinks, table, desk and a hot tub! Definitely worth the price! We would stay there again in a heartbeat if we could get the same great rates and friendly service. THANKS JEFF - From the guy who is originally from PA and now lives in Haiti :)
Not as good as other Quality Inns. Staff was helpful when TV wouldn't work. Breakfast was quite minimal and had only 2% milk. There was no fruit and only 2 types of cereal and they were hard to dispense. Bread selection was poor and the peanut butter was an off brand.
We enjoyed a good night's rest at a very reasonable price! Our room was very clean. Wi-fi and breakfast were included in the price. Wish we would have packed our swimsuits as the pool and hot tub looked inviting!
Jeff at the front desk was fabulous! He saw we were elite members and gave us the best deal possible and the walk in rate was cheaper than online. I told him "thank you it looks like you did all you could for us". He simply replied "it's my job". This hotel had some "iffy reviews" but when we walked in our room was a very pleasant surprise, everything was updated, nicely appointed and clean! I could tell they are putting some money into this place, and I wouldn't hold any reviews from prior to this year against them. Our bed was clean and comfy, with new bedding. we had a fridge and microwave. The pool and hot tub both worked and were very relaxing. We were the only people who used the pool that evening and Jeff even came in and asked if everything was ok and if we wanted the lights turned on since the natural light was fading, and the room was getting dark, thanks Jeff! The only thing was the pool floors are going to be reglazed, it sounded like it might be done soon, so if pool and hot tub are important I would call the hotel directly. There's a nice breakfast area with looked like there would be hot and cold choices, we did not eat there, we never make breakfast, but I think anyone could find something, from what I saw out. There is a washer dryer and a couple common areas for a family to use if you wanted. We feel it was very reasonable and have paid more for much less. I don't believe they have an elevator for this 2 story hotel so if first floor is needed you may want to ask. I just couldn't believe there weren't more people staying there. I really hope this review is helpful, and if so please let me know. There is 1 other thing I'm recommending that all hotels with pools should have an adult time after 8 or 9 and should be open later, we had no problems here with children. We are older and not traveling with kids and really hate to hear Marco Polo all evening and share a hot tub like it's a kiddie pool, it didn't happen here but it has other places.
This motel was formerly a Days Inn. It looks like the conversion to a Quality Inn was somewhat recent. A sign out front advertises newly renovated rooms. And they were (at least the one in which we stayed was). There was new paint, new carpet and new tile on the floor in the bathroom and around the sink. Before painting, however, there was no real effort to patch or repair the walls. Similarly, there was caulk missing in places around the bath tub, the toilet seat was very loose and badly needed to be re-anchored, and the wall beneath the air conditioner/heater was crumbling a bit. It had not been painted. Additionally was there a burned out light bulb in one lamp. The mattress was also pretty well worn and I did not sleep particularly well on it. All of that notwithstanding, I still give the Quality Inn three stars – an average rating. The new carpet was clean, as were the towels and sheets on the bed. The staff was helpful and the breakfast generally acceptable. There was, however, no yogurt, which, given all of the motels in which I stay, was a bit unusual. I have never spent the night in Grinnell before and, while I do have some complaints that I mentioned to the staff in the morning, I am willing to give this motel another try in the future.
