Visiting Madrid is always a discovery , this was a very special celebration trip and finding a good medium size hotel in the centre with qualities is not an easy task. But this delightfully certainly located hotel exceeded our expectations - cleanliness was what really made our stay so comfortable. Attention to detail was evident too, to make it by far an excellent stay was the staff in particular the guys at reception. Nothing seemed to be a difficult task efficient, politeness , precise and detailed explanations was by far maybe the best we have ever experienced staying in a city centre hotel during our travels . We left the hotel with a feeling of having been to a very welcoming place .

Just back from a 3 day break in Madrid, celebrating our wedding anniversary. We stayed at the Hotel Francisco I after it was recommended by a friend. It’s a really nice hotel with a contemporary feel. We had a superior room and it was fantastic. The only negative we had, was the noise from a shop which was directly below our room. After a long day walking, we just wanted to chill out for a few hours before our evening meal. But the shop below played relentless music as if it was some kind of night club. I have read other reviews about street noise, but to be honest, you do hear some subtle noise if your facing the Main Street (Calle Del Arenal). It is in a prime location, so street noise is inevitable to some degree, depending on room location. A great hotel albeit not the best room choice.. the staff suggested moving rooms, but that’s not really the point. I would recommend this hotel on the whole. I would also recommend the Oven restaurant on Gran Via, beautiful food.

the hotel has style but not very cosy in my opinion. It was really cold in the bedroom and was too noisy overnight. People talking in the corridor at 2am and noisy in the street. I really didn't enjoy the night. The breakfast is good, good choice but you can't expect less for the price charged.

Great hotel and great staff! The breakfast was excellent and plentiful. If you need quiet ask for rear facing rooms. It can get quiet noisy from the crowds but that is what we came to see and experience. Earplugs helped! Lots going on in the city that never sleeps! Would definitely recommend if you want to be in the center of things. Front desk went over and above to help us.

We stayed in two rooms at Hotel Francisco I in early July of 2017. Our flight was delayed by 26 hours, so we missed out on our first day in Madrid. I emailed the hotel to let them know we would be arriving one day late. When we arrived at 9:00am, we checked in and were given our room keys. Thank goodness we didn't have to wait until 3:00pm to check in! Our 2 rooms were right next door to each other on the second floor. In July, however, they had major construction going on directly beneath our two rooms. The jackhammering woke us up bright and early the first morning we were there. We notified the front desk, and they quickly found 2 new rooms for us that were away from the construction noise. The rooms were very nice with comfortable beds. The best thing about the hotel, however, is it's location!!! Close to everything which made walking the city very easy!

The location could not be better situated steps away from Puerta del Sol the centre of Madrid . 5 minutes from Gran via , Plaza Mayor, the royal Palace and plaza del Oriente area. Mercado San Miguel too. The Hotel is Boutique and newly built,. Hotel reception staff are efficient but not friendly. The entire hotel is immaculately pristine clean. Breakfast at 9€ cant be beaten and recommended. Beds are hard. Almost board like. OK I guess if you like a very firm mattress, but we doubt most would like them. Very fortunately we were ina suite with a terrace so moved the sofa cushions onto the beds enabling a sleep! Take shampoo and Gel they only provide little packets , barely enough. No toothbrushes nor other bathroom items. I dont know if theyre available theres no notice to advise availability.

The location was perfect and our room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful and polite but not super friendly, but tbh that seems the norm in Spain. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it!

I found the hotel to be just like in the pictures, the service was very courteous and the location could not have been better. The beds are comfortable, the room was very clean and despite being in the middle of one of the busiest streets in Madrid, it was surprisingly quiet! Definitely value for money, would stay there again anytime!

We stayed here for one night at the end of a two-week trip around Spain. The location is super - right in the heart of things. Normally I’d expect a place on a busy shopping street to be noisy, but this place is quiet - because it doesn’t really have any windows. That’s great, in a way, but also weird. Staff were quite friendly. This was the only place on our trip where someone showed us up to our room. Everyone spoke English well. The style and decor are ultra-modern. (The Place is brand new, it seems.) But for the most part, it wasn’t very tasteful. Like it was designed by a contractor. The room was huge and had many luxury trappings, and it was comfortable, in the end. But we found it a bit odd. Overall, it’s hard to fault this place, given how little we’d paid and considering its great location. But we’re glad we only stayed one night.

This was our first stay at this hotel. We found it on Tripadvisor, and it was a great experience. Fantastic location right on the Calle de Avenel, 2 blocks from the Opera and the metro, one block more to the palace. Our room opened up to a balcony over the Calle de Avenel. Our only comment was that it was a bit noisy, but the location can't be beat. Perhaps if you don't tolerate noise you can ask for a room not on the street. The hotel staff is very helpful and friendly, English or Spanish without missing a beat, and they were very patient with my trying to stay in Spanish. We included breakfast, and it was worth it, it was a very complete buffet.
