Although this hotel was in a great location, we were not happy with the room that was given to us or the service! If you book this hotel, request a room with a balcony. Do not get a room on the 5th floor. Those rooms have one small window and it it felt like a nuns bedroom. Our room had a horrible chemical smell to it and they ended up moving us twice! We paid for a triple room but we ended up getting a room where they simply added a cot. As for the decor in the room, forget it! Not one piece of art on the walls. No coffee in the room either. You can either pay 3 euros for a cup of coffee or buy the buffet for 9 euros. Also, there is major construction to half the building so things can get noisy. I would give this hotel a 3 star rating but only because of the location. After being inconvenienced by moving to two different rooms, you'd have thought that they would compensate you in same way, even complimentary coffee, but instead, they made you feel like it was your fault the room smelled so bad! I would not stay here again.

This is a wonderful stay if you only have a few days to spend in Madrid but want at the centre of the town. This is the place for you. I took the room for one night for business purposes and found the whole experience a delight and showed me that business trips need not be boring!!! Thank you to the whole team for being such good hosts.

This hotel is conveniently located, has clean, modern rooms, and the people who work at the front desk are very helpful. Very good breakfast. If you're looking for a small hotel, with a great location, and comfortable rooms, this is the place to stay.

The location of this hotel was perfect for walking to all the major sites. The lobby is stunning but our room was just ok. It seemed like it had been forgotten in the remodel. I did enjoy seeing some of the older architecture in our room. For location you can not beat this hotel.

I stayed several nights at Hotel Francisco in May and enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The room we had was spacious, modern, clean and the hotel was located just a short walk from all of the major tourist attractions. The only slight negative that we have is that there is ongoing renovations going on on the exterior of the hotel and we heard banging from our fifth (top) floor room. It really didn't bother us too much because it was going on during the morning and we only had to hear it when we first got to Madrid and was resting up before heading out. The rest of the days we were there we headed out early to see and do things so it didn't affect us at all but just bear in mind it may affect you if you're a late sleeper. The hotel also offers breakfast in their lounge but we didn't partake but it did look good especially if you're looking for more than the typical Spanish breakfast of coffee and a pastry. I believe it was 9 euros per person for the breakfast.

2nd time I've stayed here and will stay here again. some work was going on. Since my last visit entrance has moved as has reception. Breakfast area now on ground floor (top floor when last here). Room just as good. Spacious, modern with a very good sized bathroom. Overlooking Calle Arenal. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel is in an excellent location between Sol and the Royal Palace. Nearest Metro Station is Opera.

We recently stayed at the hotel, we booked a room that had some renovations on going outside the building. We were able to move to another room that had a good view of the pedestrian traffic. One staff member in particular was very helpful during our stay his name was Paco. Thanks again Paco for helping us out. The hotel is well-placed to see all the attraction in central Madrid.

We stayed at this hotel 8 nights and could not be happier with the location, the room, and the quality of the beds. Francisco I has a very modern style of decor, and we loved being able to open the window and let in the sounds of the city. It was San Isidro time, so there was much to hear, much music in the air. And when the windows were closed, the room was blessedly dark and silent. Our only complaint was the outrageous cost of laundry. Unbelievable. If you stay there, you might want. to make other arrangements for your clothes. The desk staff spoke English well, very friendly!

Pretty good despite being currently renovated outside so covered in scaffolding. We stayed over weekend so not disturbed by worker's noise. Room on fifth floor spacious enough for three. Great location, friendly staff and very clean. No bar/restaurant but not needed given the proximity to fantastic tavernas all around.

A centrally located hotel in Madrid. Close to the main museums (Thyssen-Bornemiza, Prado, Reina Sofia) and the royal palace. My only complaint is that, dispite all the pictures of modernv updated rooms, I ended up the last (?) unrenovated one (style: Swiss chalet from the 1970's. Maybe it was because I am a single travelor? I don't know.
